So I'll treat this like my life story.

Hello all! My name is Christine and I'm starting my weight loss plan NOW! No more bullshitting. By the time spring rolls around I want to be around 125 pounds. By I'll take this one day at a time. My main problem is portion control, as I have absolutely none. So day by day I will train myself to eat less and less, while simultaneously increasing how often (and how much) I work out. Today is almost over so I will start logging what I eat tomorrow.

On my way to becoming the SuPeRsTaR I know I can be~!~

More about my journey...

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
20 POUNDS

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
BY SPRINGTIME

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
THE CLICHE 'DIET & EXERCISE'

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
HOPEFULLY THIS FORUM.

-- How realistic is your goal?
ON A SCALE OF 1 (TOTALLY UNREALISTIC) TO 10 (COMPLETELY REALISTIC), I WOULD SAY IT'S AROUND A 7.

-- When will you start?
TOMORROW. THATS WHEN I'LL START LOGGING WHAT I EAT.

16. What are your three favorite restaurants? OLIVE GARDEN, PIZZA HUT, COLD STONE.
17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? EAT LESS OFTEN, AND EAT LESS PERIOD.
18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? MY STOMACH, LEGS, ARMS, AND CHEST AREA WOULD BE SMALLER.
19. Do you eat when you are not hungry? YES. I NEED TO STOP THAT.
20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? YES. NEED TO STOP THAT TOO.

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? OH SHIT, I WAS JUST DOING THAT A LITLLE WHILE AGO. NEED TO STOP DOING THAT TOO....
25. What do you normally eat for a meal? SOMETHING FROM ALL FOOD GROUPS, EVEN THE NOT-SO-GOOD THINGS. BUT IT USUALLY ENDS UP ON MORE THAN ONE PLATE.
26. What type of snacks do you eat? SOMETIMES HEALTHY STUFF, AND OTHER TIMES NOT SO HEALTHY STUFF. IT VARIES DEPENDING ON WHAT IS AVAILABLE. I NEED TO CONTROL THAT.

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals? YES, I MADE A LIST.

Hey Christine,
Sounds like I'm in pretty much the exact same boat as you, start weight 145, goal weight 125, wanting to lose the weight before a college event (massive start of semester beach party in my case). Anyway best of luck with it, if someone else in the same circumstances can do it then there's no reason I cant! :)

Thanks, and good luck to you as well!

I actually started a weightloss diary on here a couple of days ago too so feel free to check it out to see what works/doesn't work for me. I'm basically sticking to the tried and true more exercise/less food formula. Definitely let me know any good tips you come across and I'll reciprocate :)

Dear Diary,

So today I ate rather...peculiarly. I woke up at 9:30am, but immediately rushed out the door to the bank to deposit a check then went shopping afterward. I didn't eat anything until after 4pm.

-2 slices of Sbarro's spinach, broccoli, and mushroom pizza
-12oz of low fat french onion soup with a wheat bread dinner roll to dip
-~20oz of water
-a cup of green tea sweetened with Agave Nectar (i haven't actually drank this at this moment but I know i will have it sometime tonight)

Until tomorrow...

Hey,
I am also in the "last 20 pounds" boat. I want to lose it generally but my goal should ideally be reached by the end of June when I have my first dance recital in... 6 years, and I have to wear a green little dress made out of flowy material to portray a forest fairy (yeah i know "great topic" dance people... nothing more sexy than 20 grown ups leaping about dressed as magical forest inhabitants!). ;) :D!
What is your fitness going to be like? What kind of exercising are you doing? I am "starting" with 4 dance classes of 90 minutes a week, plus I have a DVD that I should be doing a couple of times a week but I am not doing well with that! If I plateau I might consider getting some hard core DVD or going to the gym to do weights for a few months to try to shift the last few pounds. Usually I don't like doing things I know I won't maintain for a long time, but ... tiny green dress in front of thousand people!!!!

Have a wonderful sunday, Camy

Hey Camy!

First, I want to say good luck on your goal and fitting into that little green dress!

Well, I like to combine cardio with strength training every time I workout. I actually just came back from the gym and this is what I did...

-10 mins warm up on treadmill at 3.5 incline and 3.8mph (burned 69.8 cal)
-30 mins on the elliptical (burned 376 cal)
-strength training working out my abds, arms, legs, gluts, and back for about 40 mins (if I had to guess, maybe about 50-60 calories burned. I really don't know though)
-20 mins on the stride machine (burned 245 cal)
-10 mins cool down on the treadmill at 3.0 incline and 3.5mph (burned 62.9 cal)

I aim to do this workout twice a week, and when I return back to my dorm room, I drink about 14oz of a whey protein shake (with skim milk to keep the calories low) to help enhance my muscles after each workout.

Hope this can be of some help!

Dear Diary,

Today was a HORRIBLE day! Curse the Superbowl spirit!! So this is what I ate:

-1 foot long sub on wheat bread with turkey breast, russian dressing, lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers, green peppers, and pickles.
-14oz of fat free milk with 1 1/2 scoops of whey protein for a protein shake
-one orange
-almost an entire 7oz bag of these pretzel waves (thought they are low in fat--2.5g/8 crisps--I still over did it)
-a whole small size (10") Dominos pizza topped with chicken, spinach, mushroom, green and red peppers
-several cups of water

I feel so bad, but I will make it up tomorrow by eating less. I already have it planned out what I'm going to eat. I just have to stick to it.

Until tomorrow...

this will only help if you are not getting enough protein in your diet normally and you stay within your calorie range. It is also important to have carbs within 20 minute of finishing your workout.

Well that's probably one of my biggest sources of protein b/c i dont eat red meat or beans. Lately, the most I've been eating is turkey....

how much protein are you averageing each day ?

See, I don't really know how to count protein by grams or anything like that. I just find foods that are available on my school's campus that i know are rich in protein (minus the red meat, pork meat, or beans), and eat it.

But I make sure I have my shakes at least twice a week to compensate.

I would suggest you get an account on fitday or calorie king etc. and log your food, it will then give you a breakdown of what your eating.

Trusylver

You probably mean as far as getting exact numbers of like how many grams of protein i'm eating? I could do that, but since I've purchased this whey protein, i'm gonna still take it.

I didn't say not have it but it would be good to have an exact breakdown of nutrients to see if it is enough.

Oh I can relate...today was a horrible horrible day for me too. I ate so many salt and vinegar chips my mouth went numb. Anyway I'm sure the occasional binge wont do you too bad unless you get stuck in the 'well now that I've gone and blown it I may as well eat this pizza/tub of haagen-daaz/whole cow etc' mentality that I'm so prone too. Anyway best of luck getting back on track tomorrow!
