Beckster's "homestretch run" diary

Popping by to wish you a wonderful day.
Sleeping for 16 - 18 hours a day! Holy moly!
Exercise to combat stress does sound like the way to go. I should be exercising more! ;)

I definitely could feel the increased sleep helpig me yesterday. I really think some of our stress is brought on by things like diet, sleep, and exercise. Besides, exercise trigger endorphins which are great little stress/depression relievers.

Thanks for stopping by guys!! I have even started walking twice a day when I
can. A friend of mine just had twins prematurely, and I've tried to take her older child (he's 2) out for a walk with their jogging stroller. My youngest is 17, and I'd forgotten what a work out that is! I was sweating in 15 mins,LOL.

Well, jumped on the scale and I've undone the "damage" from the weekend.
Back to 42 pounds lost. Got to make sure I eat a little bit more today. Yesterday I went way below the recommended minimum calories for me. I've been doing some research into maintainance...it's scary to think I have to actually eat slightly more (healthy food of course). I'm really struggling with that, and hope I get my mind in the right place when I get to the place I want to go with my weight loss. I've been doing this for a while, and it's going to be difficult to shift my thinking. I've been looking at the recommended caloric intake and it seems so high.
Anyway, I've got to go to work. I hope everyone has a great day, and stays on track!!!

42 lb is fantastic. I've just started out, and I'm aiming for 44 lb. Were you on a program, or did you educate yourself?

beckster you are doing a fantastic job! How sweet of you to take the 2 year old! I need a beckster in my life - actually, I should be my own beckster :)! Take the food and cals slow - don't let anxiety creep in!!! Keep up the great work! :D

Have a DIVALICIOUS day!!

Diva thanks for your kind words and support. This forum is so awesome because of the support. This road can be a lonely one, as we ourselves have to do the work.
Crebbs- Welcome to the forum!! To answer your question, I was sent the American Heart Association Step 1 diet by my doctor last November when my cholesterol came back at 237. It had hovered at 200 for a while...then my mom passed away, and I started eating lots of take-out
etc for a few months, and up it went. I looked at the Step 1, and decided that if I "wrung it out" a bit I might start losing the weight I needed to lose.
I sort of created my own thing out of it, educated myself, and started exercising. My cholesterol dropped to 150 in three months (no meds). I had tried many other times, but finally made this lifestyle work for me. I try very hard not to eat any beef, butter, margarine, mayonnaise, egg yolks, fried food, etc. Restrictive, I know. However, I knew I had to do something radical, and focused to get the show on the road!! I wish you success in your journey.

You’re so inspirational. I’m trying to figure out the best balance for my life. I’ve got to up my cal intake.
You really have achieved so much. It’s impressive.

Crebbs and Cannon thank you!!! T2, I have cut back on my bread, and only eat the whole grain variety, so don't cry. The thing that I didn't know when I started this was how much fat there is in my beloved cranberry walnut muffins made at the hospital where I work. I just had to tell myself they were poison, and I still tell myself that. Pomegranate juice ( the pure stuff), is great for helping to lower cholesterol. So are almonds, oatmeal, and ground flaxseed. If I had a nickel for every bowl of organic rolled oats I've eaten........
