Beckster's "homestretch run" diary

Thanks Cannon!! I probably should lose a few more, but at least I'm holding steady. I just wish the weather would cooperate and make walking easier. If I go out on a really cold morning, there is lots of ice, and I'm afraid I'll fall. Sooo, I have to wait until midday or later. I miss my morning walks, they really get my day off to a good start.

Howdy Beckster,
Sorry I haven't stpped by in a while,so I wanted to pop in and say howdy............I hear ya about getting those walks in the winter killed me I am actually enjoying the weather we are having now 70's and lower 80's for the high and 50's at night perfect weather for walking!!
Congrats on 55!!!!Your doing so great and your pics you posted show
just how hard you have walked,Tammy:)

Never did anyone losing 55 lbs impact me like you did in appearance - it's still mind blowing.

Hang in there beckster, that break out weather is almost here for you !!

Thanks for stopping in everyone!! I unfortunately have many pics of myself that even my husband now says when viewing them, "I didn't realize how big you were." Well, I did realize, I just finally decided to do something about it.

Beckster I was skittish too, but Spring finally came to Chicago and I've been making up for lost time. You can't be too far behind us and that Spring push will give you incentive.

Good for you Beckster. I know its important even if its tough to do. Just remember every hour you exercise adds two to your life so in the end you're saving time.

Hi Beckster!

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss- you are an inspiration to everyone! I am new to the site but your username caught my attention as my lifelong nickname [and license plates on first car] has been 'Bekster' for as long as I can remember!

What have you been doing to get the weight off, if you don't mind me asking? Congrats!

HI everyone!! Crazybek- I cut out beef (for a long time), Mayonnaise, butter, margarine, fried food, and fast food. I measured my portions, and then started exercising. Walking, and more walking, lots and lots of walking. I did it slowly, lost 50lbs over 12 months, and have lost another 5.
However, I'm having a rare VERY bad day. The husband brought cookie dough into the house, and I succumbed, BADLY. What is my problem???? I know I shouldn't eat this junk, and yet there I was shoveling it into my mouth. I have been exercising, and doing fairly well with my "diet food", so go figure. I will do better, starting with dinner tonight!!!

Hi Beckster-

If I've learned anything thus far in life, its that we can't avoid our trigger foods forever. We perceive them as 'trigger foods' for a reason- when we start eating them, we can't stop because we really enjoy the taste. No dieter is going to go months upon months without indulging at least once or twice in your 'forbidden foods.' Whether it be a taste or a full-out binge, its unfortunately a part of the deal. However, you should feel So proud of yourself because you are far ahead of many of us in that you noted 'I'll start eating better tonight', whereas many of us binge eaters have the 'i'll get back on track tomorrow philosophy'..

Try not to feel beridden with guilt, although as a self-confessed binger I can only begin to empathize with how difficult this task may seem. When you fall off the bandwagon, just hop back on.

And for further notice, ask your husband politely that if he is going to bring foods like cookie dough in the house, to either a)hide it b)consume it when you are not aroundor c)just don't let you know that he has it so it isnt a temptation. It may seem like a lot to ask but you're working too hard to be sabotaged!

In weight watchers, they speak a lot about 'diet sabotagers' and believe me, I'm surrounded by them. My size 2 best friend who eats whatever she wants whenever she wants is always presenting me with junk food; my own mother is always trying to justify her own food choices by coercing me into joining her 'binge'..the list is endless. It's best to have a word with these people and emphasize that while it may seem effortless for them to resist temptation, when you deprive yourself of something for so long, when it is within your reach you are bound to indulge, quite impulsively. Chin up and keep on truckin- You're nearly there!

I was watching the Weather Channel this morning and thought of you when they said Vermont skiing may stay open till May this year in part for this upcoming snow system. Can't say I know how close or far away you are from Conway and such but it still sucks you guys are still getting less than spring-like weather up there :(

No worries about the cookie dough thing, You're not going back to the old chubby lady. I know how good you feel being you right now, it's going to carry you a good long ways in life.

You should enjoy some things like that once in a while guilt-free. We shouldn't have to live the rest of our lives in some 'punishment' mode. You'll accept the adjustment needed in this case and move on being your svelt self :)

Yeah Beckster, don't feel too bad about it. The occassional overindulgence is part of life (even for fit people). Just put it out of your mind and go back to eating the good stuff :)

Howdy Beckster,
You have came so far don't feel bad about a little treat here and there....Yummm cookies sound good about now lol. I hope you have a nice day Tammy

Crazybecka, T2, Cannon and Tammy-you are all awesome!!! I appreciate the encouragement. I have no plans on going back to where I was. NO WAY!!
T2-We are supposed to get 4 to 8 inches of snow tonight:mad: . It's hardly been a hard winter, but I've had enough. I like going for my walks without umteen layers on.

No problem- its what we're here for!

I awoke this morning to that bloody white stuff all over the ground- Apparently it is supposed to snow all weekend; thankfully, we're going to Phili for the Easter weekend so it will ideally melt while we're gone- Have a great day and good luck!

Ha Ha Ha I love it!!! Only got a couple inches of snow!!! YeeeeHawww!! Did better today with my eating, never got to eat lunch though, too busy!!

We didn't get much snow here (as in inches sticking to the ground) but we did have thick bands of lake affect snow and Ma Nature really made me earn my walk today.

Hope you guys have a great holiday up your way :)
