because i'm worth it!! (aren't we all??!)

speaking of conversations....had a slightly peculiar one with finn the other day...

(actually more spat than convo...)

i was getting something from in front of the TV & he said move idiot!!

i was quite taken aback as hes never said idiot before
(finn has autism & if he hears a new words repeats it....A LOT...)

so i said finn we don't really say that word...

but it didn't really end there................:)

finn: is it a naughty word??

me: no its not naughty...but its not a nice word...

finn: move idiot PLEASE!!!
(a little louder)

me: don't say idiot finn...say sorry....

finn: sorry.........................IDIOT!!!
(much louder still...)

(& he waited just long enough for me to walk into the kitchen & they say children with autism can't be sly or sneaky??? AS IF...molly our dog gets blamed for EVERYTHING by finn...broken TV remotes/smashed cups etc)

me: well thats not nice & i thought we were friends...you don't call friends idiot...

finn: idiot mum.....NOT idiot friend...

me: well if i'm an idiot you're a monkey...
(i just couldn't leave it could i??? basically throwing down the gauntlet for an all out meltdown from finn...i like to live dangerously......:D)

finn: I AM NOT A MONKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(LOUDER)

me: yes you are........monkey...

finn: NOT A MONKEY NOT A MONKEY NOT A MONKEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

me: monkey monkey monkey....
(i'm very in touch with my inner child as you can tell..........LOL)

finn: IDIOT IDIOT IDIOTTTTT!!!!!

me: monkey

finn: YOU ARE IDIOT YOU ARE IDIOT YOU ARE IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

me: monkey
(walking away...FINALLY...up the stairs...)

finn: IDIOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

me: well if i'm an idiot at least i'm still human....
(said at top of stairs almost out of ear shot from finn...i'm sneaky too)

me to eldest son on landing: hahaha....i got the last word...

eldest son rolling his eyes: yes...so i heard...

at that point it dawns on me i've just gone a few rounds with an 8yr old child with autism....a very proud moment....NOT!!! :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:

:smilielol5:...oh dear
tbh i thought you might be from the UK!!!

you say things quite often that sound like i would say...

you say luv & darlin' for instance i can't imagine americans sayin that like that...in my mind you say that with a northern accent b/c thats what fellas say to us girlies here...alright darlin' how are yeah doin'?? etc

theres a few things you say that sound quite british...or maybe its more how you say things IYKWIM.....

yeah most ppl think cockney accent is a london accent but its only how ppl in east london speak. its not the same as a southern accent that we ragamuffins from the north think sounds very posh or even put on or phoney!!

theres a 'teeny tiny' bit of a divide between the north & south in the UK :D :D
southerners (the ones i know & do like a lot...honest!!) seem to think we all want to live 'down there' really....what they can't seem to grasp is that we up in the north don't really think about them DOWN THERE...AT ALL...!!! LOL

can't imagine living in the states...its so friggin HUGE!!!! do you actually feel part of a country (as we do here despite 'the divide' hahaha...) or do you feel more close to the specific state you were born in/live in etc????

It's like that here too. I think it must be like that almost anywhere really, unless it's a small island. No Offence babymomma, but the Newfoundlanders (Province) are known to have quite the accent. In fact I believe they're decendants from the Irish, and Boy oh Boy do they ever sound it when they're drunk!! I also find ppl in Saskatchewan and Manitoba (Provinces) to have the more "Canadian Accent" "eh" and what not.

Although we're made fun of for saying "eh" by the American's, I've actually heard more American's say "eh" around me than I ever have. The Kiwi's say "eh" ALL THE TIME. Further North in Canada you've got your barren land. Nunavut (Province) for instance, mostly the Inuit. Native to the land. I know they don't live in igloo's anymore, they live in trailers and houses. And IDK maybe every once in awhile they may build a few igloo's who knows...I don't know their culture. BUT they don't sound Canadian. ;)

Well Supper soon, I will be making both dad's and mine only takes two minutes.:seeya:

Oh P.S. I have found that the UK and other Europeans, basically all of the world forgets about Canada, they clump us in as being American (as we are North American's, BUT NOT American's of the United States) and yet the American's forget about us. Haha, so we're like this invisible happy other world!!

yes i know what you mean....i watch A LOT of american shows & even i pick up on that living in brooklyn is seen as a bit of joke for those living in manhattan...& being from canada is made fun of quite A LOT too!!!

as for brooklyn...i really like the look of it...with its big houses has a london feel to it & its where heath ledger chose to live FGS!!! so major cool factor!!

canada....'this invisible happy other world!!' wonderful can i come???? :)

Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers, Mary Pickford, Keanu Reeves, & Eric McCormack ?? all from canada....not bad!!!!

LOVE LOVE....Aykroyd, Candy & Carrey....soooooo funny!!!! Fox seems like such a sweet guy...the American Film Institute named Pickford 24th among the greatest female stars of all time!! & as for keau....well??? i wouldn't kick him out of bed thats for sure (lakehouse one of my fave chick flicks) & will & grace one of my all time fave shows..........so not bad at all & thats just the ones i could think of off the top of my head....

though as for mike myers...both of his parents were from liverpool so i'll have to lay claim a little of him too!!! :D

similarly to what you said about being invisible...myers said...

'Canada is the essence of not being. Not English, not American, it is the mathematic of not being'.

this quote about his dad shows liverpool humour very well....scousers are known for being quite witty BUT quite sarky too...even a little acerbic...but if you get it...you get it...if not you might cry.............LOL

"Austin Powers was born out of trying to celebrate my father's life. My father's favorites were mine -- Peter Sellers, Monty Python, Peter Cook, and Dudley Moore...My dad was a guy who loved to be silly; he had a highly prized sense of humor. When I would bring friends home to play table hockey in the basement, if my dad didn't think they were funny, he wouldn't let them in the house. 'They can't come around,' he'd say. 'They're not bloody funny!'"

this a little deja vuey actually...the other day my eldest was on the phone to his friend who i've known for yrs...he asked if it was ok if someone stayed for a few days....knowing his pal could hear me....i said yeah as long as its NOT friggin dave...hes too bloody maudlin...one bleedin GF drama after another...(true)

my eldest looking a little uncomfortable said in a whisper pleaseeeee tell me you're joking he can hear you!!!! (an eg of someone NOT getting it....all those yrs away from liverpool i guess!! LOL....though later he said he did know i was joking really...yeah right he would say that wouldn't he!!!?)

dave of course was laughing...in a god your mums a bit mad kinda way!!!
whatever..............btw he did have another GF crisis...hence the visit :nopity::nopity:

oh noooooooo!!! that does not sound good!!!!

anyway theres no way it can be any sadder than when denny popped his clogs...can it???? that was soooo super sad & i was crying like such a loon think my eldest thought i was having some kind of mini breakdown............

oh it's worse.. way WAY worse.

Actually kind of funny all the Canadian stuff here. My coworker always says, "well, Canada isn't really even a country right? I mean it's kinda just like a province of the U.S. right?"

Before anyone takes offense... Bear in mind he would say this entirely tongue in cheek, and mostly because an inordinately large percentage of our workforce here is from the New Brunswick area originally.

A married couple in their early 60 ' s were celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant....

Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, "For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish." The wife answered, "Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband." The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! - two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands

The husband thought for a moment: "Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wi sh is to have a wife 30 years younger than I." The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish.

So the fairy waved her magic wand and poof!...the husband became 93 years old. The moral of this story: Men who are ungrateful bastards should remember fairies are female.....

I gotta say, I envy her confidence. She's a beautiful woman and proud to be herself. One day I hope I can feel even close to that way about myself :p

what is it about these girlies with self esteem issues?????

while not wanting to repeat what i've just put on rellys new diary...positive affirmations needed me thinks...........

BE YOURSELF LOVE YOURSELF ACCEPT YOURSELF
(ok made that one up but y'know what i mean!!)

beth is always herself no matter what the situation...or dress code!! :)

we should all heed the following...

Stop caring about how people perceive you. The fact is, it really doesn't matter. It's impossible to be yourself when you're caught up in wondering "Do they think I'm funny? Does she think I'm fat? Do they think I'm stupid?" To be yourself, you've got to let go of these concerns and just let your behavior flow, with only your consideration of others as a filter — not their consideration of you. Besides, if you change yourself for one person or group, another person or group may not like you, and you could go around in a vicious cycle trying to please people; it's totally pointless in the end. (plus why change yourself when you might attract ppl who you don't really care for or who you have nothing in common with or who you have nothing to learn from & nor they from you...& anyway most ppl are too concerned with their own lives & themselves to notice anyone else too much anyway!!!)

Be honest and open. What have you got to hide? We're all imperfect, growing, learning human beings. If you feel ashamed or insecure about any aspect of yourself — and you feel that you have to hide those parts of you, whether physically or emotionally — then you have to come to terms with that and learn to convert your so-called flaws into individualistic quirks. Be honest with yourself, but don't beat yourself up; apply this philosophy to others, as well. There is a difference between being critical and being honest; learn to watch the way you say things to yourself and others when being honest. (for instance i prefer to say i'm curvy NOT fat!!! hahaha...)

Relax. Stop worrying about the worst that could happen, especially in social situations. So what if you fall flat on your face? Or get spinach stuck in your teeth? Learn to laugh at yourself both when it happens and afterwards. Turn it into a funny story that you can share with others. It lets them know that you're not perfect and makes you feel more at ease, too. (& them too of course...we're all as messed up as each other really...some just hide it better thats all!!) It's also an attractive quality for someone to be able to laugh at themselves and not take themselves too seriously! (well that i can do!! LOL)

Develop and express your individuality. Whether it's your sense of style, or even your manner of speaking, if your preferred way of doing something strays from the mainstream, then be proud of it... unless it's destructive to yourself or others. Be a character, not a type. (oh i do like a bit of quirky!!!)

Have a productive day. Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and that some days, you're the statue. People might raise eyebrows and even make fun, but as long as you can shrug and say "Hey, that's just me" and leave it at that, people will ultimately respect you for it, and you'll respect yourself.
(i say WHATEVER....A LOT...does that count????? yes by golly it does!!!! jesus i said by golly!!? who says that...EVER??!!)

Believe in who you are. If you're always working to be someone you're not, you'll never be a happy person. Be yourself and show the world you're proud of the way you are! Nobody knows you better than you and that's how it should be. You deserve to be your own best friend, so start trying to figure out how you can do that. If you had to hang out with yourself for a day, what is the most fun type of person you could be, while still being yourself? What is the best version of you? Believe in this idea and use that as your starting point.

Follow your own style. The common thing a lot of people do is copy other's actions because it seems like the better route to fit in, but really, shouldn't you stand out? Standing out yes, is very hard, but you need to try avoid assuming other people's perspectives of you. Maybe you like to sit outside on the deck under a umbrella in the middle of the rain, maybe you have different ideas of things, rather than other people, maybe you like strawberry cake instead of the common chocolate cake, whatever you are, accept it. Being different is absolutely beautiful and it attracts people to you. (VIVE LA DIFFERENCE i say!!! well the french said it first but now i do too mais oui!!!)
