Bassackwards diary

LOL dont worry, you're nothing like that girl that was posting a while back who was extraordinarily self-absorbed :D. You know the one I'm talking about (yeah?)..
I believe so, but I don't remember the nic. She whined about everything and didn't want to hear any constructive advice, right? Pretty young IIRC.

Anyway...I went and had sclerotherapy done yesterday and now I'm not allowed to do any aerobic activity for a week. :( I don't know what to do with myself. I hope I don't get used to this though...I know I need to work out to maintain my weight loss. I have more veins that will need to be done but I can't see doing it all back to back. I will need to get back into my workout routine for a while before I can take another week off.

I inherited my mother's veins so if I want to wear shorts or even cropped pants without frightening people, I really needed to get some of the worst veins treated. I guess I will learn to live with spider veings...but those big ugly veins have got to go!

I survived a week without working out (just walking...nothing that raised my heart rate) and my leg is looking better. Now I need to make an appointment to get work done on the other leg. :)

Hey Judy :)

Thanks for stopping by my diary. Your such a gem. Scleratherapy... I'm not completely familiar with that. Is that where they treat varicose veins with the saline or salt water solution? Or do they completely remove the unwanted veins? Is it painful? Just me wondering, lol :) Sounds like your making a full recovery though and the no exercise is a small price to pay right now. Just think about this summer when your wearing shorts and you will feel so much more confident about your legs (but being how your already 6 feet tall I bet they aren't too shabby right now;) )

Take Care, and let me know how your next session goes.

Hey Sam! Yes, it's the saline injections to treat varicose and spider veins. I mostly have the spider veins but did have one large ugly veing running down my thigh. We treated the big ugly vein and some of the spiders on my left leg. I didn't find the injections to be painful at all and didn't suffer from any of the itching or other side effects that are possible. There is a little bit of tenderness to the touch but it's not bad.

My long legs have always been one of my best features so getting these stupid vein issues sucks.

Just because a woman gets older doesn't mean she loses her vanity. lol

happy half lady...

Hope you have a fantastic birthday and a super terrific next 50 years :)
TY so much Mal!

Now...I gotta share a little story.

I stopped by the grocery store today to pick up a few items, including a bottle of wine. The cashier asked for my ID and I looked up to see her scrutinizing my face. I laughed and said, "You're kidding....". Her serious response was, "No, if you don't look at least 40, we are required to get your ID".

Woo-hoo! 50 years old and I'm being mistaken for someone who might be under 40!

ROTFLMAO!!

Oh...I also had my last scheduled schlerotherapy today. I'm very happy with the results so far and I should be able to proudly wear shorts when I visit my son in Phoenix at the end of March!!!:hurray:

WOW! That's pretty awesome! That's a mighty fine compliment!
:D
I'm glad that vein thing worked out for you... I hope I don't get my mom's veins... She's also had problems with vericose and spider veins.

Awesome work on your loss. I don't know how you do it, but you just amaze me!

Way to go!

Thanks sweetie!

My sister and I both got my mom's veins. My sister has 4 daughters and they all got their paternal grandmother's legs/veins. Lucky them!!

You might get your legs/veins from your dad's side of the family too.

As far as I know, they don't have that problem...
Does skin cancer run in the family? Cause my aunt and my dad both had it at least once. My dad just had surgery on his face to get rid of it. Luckily, they said they got it all.
Of course, My dad got burned something awful as a kid... before there was sunscreen.

:)

I hope all is well!

I'm just popping in long enough to tell ya'll why I'm absent. I applied to be a substitute food service employee with the county school district last October. I finally got a call to work this week so I have been pulling lunch lady duty . No we don't wear hair nets anymore. lol

I still do my karaoke show but I would really like to get a real life job...one with benefits and working as a sub is the best way to get my foot in the door.

They seem pleased with me and have offered me some future dates of subbing and the cafeteria manager said she would recommend me to other schools.

I like the fact that the job is somewhat physically demanding...I'm not sitting at a desk. I also get to eat my lunch for free if I want... Of course it is school lunch but they also offer up a fresh salad for a few people so I have been enjoying the salads. :)

Oh...I forgot to say that this is truly a blessing at this time as BF got laid off from his job. A 20% workforce reduction...and he was one of the newer guys. :(

Well, I'm still working as a sub at the school, but that should end on May 8th. :(

I did fly to Phoenix to see my son and thoroughly enjoyed my visit...got to see my baby brother while I was there too. :)

I need to get over my thing about getting my "money's worth" from those free lunches though. lol I've been eating way more than I would be if it wasn't a part of the job.

The weight is only slightly up...the fluctuations are only up about 1 or 2 pounds from where I was....

I'm still working as a sub and have applied for a full time position (full time with the school kicks in at 30 hours per week) and I've been assured an interview for the open positions. :)

I'm surprised by how much I enjoy the work and I definitely like the hours. I'm home early enough that it doesn't feel like I'm really working full time at all!

Of course, I'm still busier than I used to be...but it's garden season again!! I got a great head start on my corn...it's already looking great and we're not even into June yet!

My weight is still an issue...but the ups and downs are pretty pedictable..even if I don't know when they will happen. I just know they will...

I'm still fluctuating about a pound or two above where I was when I started working in the school cafeteria. :)

But then, I will have 2 months to get things back in shape before working for real again...if I can get hired full time...

I have an interview on Tuesday morning.
I know I'm talking to myself but....that's okay by me...it's my thread. lol

I'm here girl! Wishing you the very best of luck on your job interview! You're a sweet person and you deserve it.
Thanks doll! My interview went VERY well. I had all the right answers to their questions. The only minus that I could feel was my lack of independant experience in institutional food service.

I'm hopeful, but not too hopeful.

I got the job!

It's unofficial until the school board formally approves me, but that shouldn't be a problem as I was already approved as a sub.

The pay stinks but the hours and benefits are perfect! The work won't interfere with my karaoke show either.

Soooo...I best enjoy the rest of the summer cuz come late August I will be working "full time". :)

IME, it sucks for about a month, then gets better. Hang in there.

I found that letting the scale go down a few pounds below goal meant that when I bumped my calories up to maintenance level, I settled in at a weight that was at or a bit below goal. When I switched to maintaining when I'd seen goal (but not much below) for a week, I settled in a couple pounds higher than goal. And going back to losing, when I was mentally prepared to be done, really sucked.

You might be an even smaller size in misses (even sizes). Juniors (odd sizes) are cut differently. I've got some generously-cut size 6 pants that fit a bit big, and some size 15 jeans that are still kind of tight through the leg.

great article. I will bookmark this

Hey there JudyB :)

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with my journal at all anymore... Just kind of gave up I guess. I even started one over on Steve's site but haven't kept it up either. I do have a facebook if you would like to find me on there, if your into that :) I will try to bop in here more often and see if you update anymore. Hope your summer is going well for you and congrats on that job you have coming up this Fall :)

BTW, my friend won a karokee competition a few nights ago. She blew the roof off the house and won 1000 dollars! I'm so proud of her :)

Take Care,
Sam
