Balance

I have been weight training for a couple of months now. I have previously had trouble with my shoulders - occassionally getting a pinching sensation resulting in pain that can linger for several days. Accompanying this pain is weekness/pain when I raise my arms in front at about 90 degrees. I managed to cause this while working out my shoulders yesterday. After doing a fair amount of research, I think that the problem is my rotator cuff - more specifically my joint is out of line causing an impingement. The reason I am asking this question here is because I think that my workout may be causing an imbalance in shoulder muscle tension creating this problem.

I have been doing chest, shoulder presses and military presses, rear delt flys, rows, etc. I think these are creating tension that pulls my arm up, misaligning the joint. What is a good exercise to offset this tension, pulling the arm down? I am already stepping up my rotator cuff exercises.

I had the same thing happen to me. I ended up having surgery on my rotator cuff. It wasn't torn but had a lot debris and cartilage in the shoulder joint that I had cleaned out of it. I have had no real problems with my shoulder since. I was out of commision for several weeks until it completely healed. I was cautious and didn't want to further damage it. But now that shoulder is equally as strong as my other and I have no problems with any should exercises.
