Bad elbow pain: Can't to PUSHUPS or BENCH press!!

Lately I have discovered I have a bad elbow pain when I do push ups and bench presses and I really can't even preform them. I do 100 push ups(20 per set and I am in pain throughout and I literally just did a set of bench presses(50 pounds to warm up) and my elbow had pain through the whole thing.

A long while(2+ months) back I noticed some minor pain but worked through it. Now I get a sharp pain whenever I do a bench or pushup. It doesn't affect me however when I do curls or anything else.

What should I do for this pain? Could it be an injury? What should I do for a chest workout then?

Thanks

You may have what I have had several times: tennis elbow.

If it is tennis elbow, do not work through the pain! You should see an orthopedist for a diagnosis. Unfortunately, if it is tennis elbow, there is not much a doctor can do. You have to rest it, ice it, ibuprofen often helps. As for chest exercises, these will be difficult with bad elbows, but if is tennis elbow working on them will only make it worse and will prolong their healing.

I don't think I have tennis elbow. I checked out that link and had none of the symptoms. My elbow is fine except for when I work out. I actually managed to work the pain out after 2-3 sets of 50 pound benches but only did a workout with 85 pounds benching.

Any other ideas to what it could be?

No one here is qualified to help you with this.

The best piece of advice any of us can give you is: Discontinue the exercises that bring you this pain immediately and consult a doctor/specialist.

By working through this pain you might make this problem a chronic one.

The fact that the pain was lighter at first and became worse is evidence (IMO) that you made it worse, I'm not saying this to burst your bubble my friend I tell you this because if you hurt yourself badly enough you will never be able to do any of these exercises again.

Just...go see a doctor, please :p

Take care!

I get the same pain when I do bench and push ups. Also during some tricep workouts, mainly head crushers. I have had it for about a year and have always just worked through it. It does make me wonder if I am damaging something long term.

Pain is BAD, m'kay?! Get to a doctor. You could be destroying your cartilage or have a partially torn tendon.

these kinds of injuries can be LIFE ALTERING if you don't get them taken care of.
