Okay, I'll take the stairs today.
I did go work out today (Tuesday), cardio on the treadmill.
Also did it last Wednesday (4th of July).
What was in between? Well, Friday to Monday I went to Port Aransas with my girls, my sister and her family. Oh dear. Last year I went and did the stairs at the condo, ran on the island (there is a coast guard bldg nearby and it's enjoyable watching them run as well!). This time I stayed very active with my kids, consciously staying moving with them at the pool and beach. However, my sister is an eater, and well, we snacked. Healthy eating too, but overall too many calories.
Last night I sat on the couch and ate chocolate chip cookie dough.

Ok, you will tell me I'm crazy, but I weighed the cookie roll before and after and calculated how many calories I ate. I didn't eat nearly what I used to. I consumed almost 500 calories (which was just a few spoonfuls). That is so gross. But let's face it, we all have these mindless eating moments, especially in front of the TV and with food that's easy to consume (like chips and cookies). It was a good exercise. I've had the most success when I retool my thinking for quantities and calories (i.e. if you are going to eat chips, weigh them first and be very aware of what you are putting in your body). For me, I can use it to avoid the food all together, or to allow myself just that taste. Truthfully I do better when I get sweets, sodas and salty food out of my system. It reduces the cravings.
So I have crept up some more. Will watch what I eat this week.
