Back on Track

Woke up with a head cold this morning. Still went walking/jogging, though mostly walking. 43 minutes

Had too many calories for breakfast and lunch, but now I feel so bad with this cold that I don't feel like eating anything else but soup and water the rest of today. Itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, sniffling, sore throat. Woe is me.

Nap time.

Am supposed to go up to bar/restaurant tonight to meet some of the people I'd be working with (going away party for one of them). Need to go, but oh the smoke will make me feel so bad. Need to suck it up I guess.

Hi Patty how are you feeling now hun?
Great job for persisting through the head cold and getting your walk/jog in anyways! I bet you felt good reflecting back on it and knowning that it was done and out of the way for the day. Are you still going to be attending the going away party? I you fair out well if you do. Take care.

Oh, I am so sick. This head cold sucks.

I did go to the happy hour last night. Had a couple of beers. Met some potential mfg. reps, customers and co-workers. Ate dinner with a couple of them there. It went very well, I have a few more people now pulling for me to get the job.

Drugged myself (cold medicines) to get through the evening, but by the time I got home I was miserable. Breathing all that smoke in the bar. ugh

Course I had too many calories yesterday at every meal and with the drinks, so I feel sick -and- fat.

We did not go walk this morning. The other girls couldn't go, which is rare. I figured I'd take the day off too.

This morning my daughter's pierced ear was infected. I tried to take the earring out but ended up pulling the post into her ear. What a terrible situation. She is 5 yrs old, crying, bleeding and I made it worse. I had to run her to a clinic to get it numbed and take the earring out. I think the shot to numb the ear hurt worse than anything I'd done. It cost $220 to get it done, plus now I've got to get prescriptions filled for oral and topical antibiotics. I got her to school about 10am, so stayed to meet her for lunch at 10:30 (yes they eat very early). She was crying when I left. I just got home at noon, feel like crap and the only thing I've had all day is the coffee my friend brought me.

I've got to pick up the prescription and pick up my daughters early at 2:30 so I can start the medications. I just want to crawl into bed and rest. But no rest for the moms....

Please let this weekend improve!

Head cold is worsening, turning into cough. Feel terrible. No exercise yesterday or today.

I'm gaining weight, feeling bloated. I haven't been eating too much, so it's probably irregularity. So I'm not a happy camper.

Ok, looked up a list of high fiber foods. Posted it elsewhere but want to post it here too to help remind me when I make my shopping list.

Here I am. Was sick for a week. Really knocked me out. Just a silly cold, but it turned cruddy. Still walked this week, but have been so tired. Finally forced myself to jog today though and will do the 3.1 mi jog (5k) at Memorial Park tomorrow.

Thanks for the well wishes brat.

We had an impromptu bbq at my house on Labor Day with friends and neighbors. Ended up around 30 adults and kids. Was not too much work, as everyone brought food. But we played all day, drank a couple of beers, had to clean up and on Tuesday I felt exhausted. My cold wasn't done with me yet. Actually did not eat too bad, but someone left cheesecake in my fridge. They'd brought it for the party but forgot to put it out.

I've had 3 pieces this week! Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!! Need to give it away, throw it away. Oh I know, we're going to neighbor's for dinner tonight, will bring it all over there (there are still 5 pieces left).

Made chicken tortilla soup this week. Low fat, low cal, high in flavor (did not actually put in tortilla strips). Tastes better to me than chicken noodle soup. Had it for several meals. Think I'll have some soup to fill me up before I go to neighbor's house.

Tuesday 26 minutes walking
Wednesday 42 minutes walking/jogging + 6 minutes weights
Thursday 37 minutes walking
Friday 36 minutes walking/jogging

My friend and I talked this am about reviewing what we are doing right and wrong and reinstating some of our better habits. Bran flakes or oatmeal for breakfast, more green tea and water, more veggies, counting calories, pushing the jogging vs. walking. Getting in an extra walk at night when possible (which is difficult now that kids' activities have started up for the school year).

Weight is about the same. Not at lowest. Just staying in this range. Would love to break through.

Hey, I just read this about water:

1. To function at its best, the body needs to be well-hydrated. Our bodies are largely composed of water – about 55-60% of body weight. It helps with many tasks including temperature regulation, cardiovascular function, waste product removal and metabolism.

4. The extreme opposite of dehydration can cause problems too. Ingesting large amounts of water without other added content (such as electrolytes, sugar, vitamins, etc.) can result in a medical complication known as hyponatremia. When too much plain water is ingested, large amounts of electrolytes (especially sodium) are transported from the blood and tissues into the small intestine, resulting in a dangerous electrolyte imbalance.

5. A small study has indicated that metabolic rate increases following water consumption by as much as 30% and is sustained for over an hour.1 The mechanism of the increased calorie burn is thought to be a combination of the energy needed to heat the ingested water and additional unknown factors. The long-term effect of increased water consumption and weight loss has not been studied.

It's 7am. I woke up and it's raining. Normally I love the rain, but it put me off jogging today, so I'm not happy about that. I also woke up with a headache. I've had lots of them lately.

Well I'm going to eat right today. I leave for Vegas in the morning and know it will be hard to eat right while I'm there. Am bringing my jogging shoes. Will be back Tuesday.

Oooohh! Have a great time in Vegas!

(And I hope your headache disappears SOON!)

I'm back. Did not jog in Vegas, but walked miles every where, did not overeat and am back down to my low weight. My feet and calves ache from it all.

I am going to jog at my favorite park this morning after the kids go to school.

Congratulations on having such great will power in Vegas! Sorry to hear that your feet and calves hurt so much...but great work on all the walking.

Did you win any cash? :)

Hi M2M and Ohappydaye! Vegas was fun. My girlfriend and I said beforehand we'd eat and drink and gamble and NOT workout, but both she and I are both very determined in our lives to get fit and lose weight. So we didn't go crazy.

Ok, so we went a little crazy. But that was drinking and gambling. Eating was very reasonable and we drank lots of water everywhere and we walked, walked, walked everywhere. We bought a monorail pass that goes up and down one side of the strip behind the casinos, but we kept making wrong turns and spent more time walking to the monorail half the time. lol

We said we were walking more on the strip than the hookers in Vegas, because they got to take a break sometimes and get a ride.

Just got back from a walk/jog this morning (39.5 minutes) and my legs are still tight and tired from the trip. Yesterday the bottoms of my feet still ached. Need to go stretch now.

For the record, I loved Mandalay Bay though it is on one far (but nice) end of the strip. I think I'll stay at MGM Grand or Bellagio (if I can afford it) next time. They are in the middle of the strip.

It sounds like a GREAT trip!!
