*HUGS* That's for the family situation.
*HUGS* That's for kicking butt on that 5K!

Thanks OHD. Big hugs back at ya. I'll take all the hugs I can these days.

*A Texas style, Canadian sized Bearhug* :D

Thanks for your kind thoughts Mike and for the Canadian hug.

Nice job on your 5K run Patty, I'm proud of ya :)

Thanks T2. I finally did it!

Hii Pattycakes! Gotta love this place - such wonderful people I can't imagine getting this far without you guys... You sound like a strong woman - you'll come out of it all just fine. Great job on the 5k!! That's fantastic & yay on the jogging buddy!

I do love this place pequin. It's been not just a weight loss place for me these past few months, but a healing place. Comfortable. People who give and who understand one another.

It’s amazing who we can meet up with when we walk out the door, you may have met a life long friend. I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Thanks rosie. It's true. I was very shy as a child and really until just a few years ago. Age brings us some wisdom I guess (or experience anyway). And I take the opportunity now to talk to people wherever I am. Make small talk. All sorts of people. Meet lots of interesting people that way and stay connected to the world.

Congrats on making the ladybug walk Patty !!

I think she needs to start jogging now.

Re the Avatar: I'm sorry, I just didn't feel like smiling much this week, so I didn't want to stare at it. :(

5% and 9 ideas

Someone around this forum talks about being in the 5% who lose weight and keep it off. Who was it? Anyway, I got an email from SparkPeople today with a link to an article about it.

5 secrets of the 5%
Make it public
Pay attention
Enjoy yourself
Make gradual changes
Allow yourself to fail

Complete article:

It had a second link to an article about what to do after meeting your goal (could be applied on your way to the goal as well, I think).

9 Ideas After Meeting Your Weight Loss Goal
Let your career soar
Be a hero to your kids
Lasso that financial beast
Develop a new talent
Wow your spouse
Become a student again
Start your own business
Rediscover your social life

Complete article:

Both upbeat articles, worth passing on, IMHO.

I hear ya...Been there. It does get better. I feel the peace that comes with making the right decision for yourself, and your kids...You will too. Big hugs to you and your family Patty. :)

Saw this on Elegance's diary, by kristindiva. Liked it so much I stole it and put it here - to inspire me. Thanks kdiva.

Was just reading through your diary from the beginning; saw this and had to comment...I loved it too, so much that I stole it and put it in my signature!

hey there girl - just popping in to say hi and see how you're doing!
hope all is going well,

Thanks for dropping in on me. I walked out of work the other night and there was one of the girls from weight watches (she is a really nice girl) and the poor bugger nearly died when she saw me lol …anyway my husband said to me Hun we cant go anywhere anymore without you running into someone you no, and do you no what he’s right. It’s marvelous what can change in your life once you get out there. I hope your day is what you want it to be.

I'm going to paste it over in my diary too, so I can read it everyday. Thanks! You're always posting the greatest stuff! Thanks for keeping me motivated!

DQ and OHD, did you also click on the link to the article? It's a pretty quick read. I guess the nine items are self-explanatory, but it gives a paragraph on each.

Yeah DQ, I always liked that one of yours: Failure isn't the falling down, it's the staying down. GET UP!!

Hi Rose. I appreciate the drop ins. Really.

M2M today was a pretty good day. Made some progress on the house cleaning projects. Clean sweep and all. Throwing out so much junk.

Hey look! I'm a "member" now.

Yea Patty, I read the article...posted the link and all in my diary. Very good read. I am definitely printing that out when I get to work in the morning.

And congrats on member status!!

Walked this am with friend Melissa (43:30, 2.9 mi). Haven't done it since last Monday. Had the talk with husb last Tues, and just haven't able to walk since then (busy, tired, stressed). Got the chance to talk to her, which was good. She pointed out we won't be able to go walking in the morning any more (since he won't be here to watch the kids), which is bad.

Have to figure that one out.

Weight is down a little more. Wish I could take credit for doing it, but truthfully stress is eating away the lbs. Yesterday I looked in the mirror before weighing myself and for the first time wasn't grossed out by my hips and belly - they are finally starting to look right.

*NOTE: This is not an endorsement for the STRESS diet.*

I had something else to say, but can't remember what.....

Good morning Patty! I'm so sorry that the stress is getting to you. When my mom and dad divorced she lost TONS of weight...on the stress diet. It's a tough situation, but remember to eat when you can and try to find 5 minutes everyday for yourself. You'll make it through girl, we'll carry you. *hug*
