Back in training....

Hey guys, i've been back in training now for about 3 months, things are going well, but i can't seem to loose the fat thats gathered around my loins and buttocks.

bit of background... i used to be very fit, used to look like one of the chest n' abs dudes, in all the mags. Then started uni.. which turned into 3 years of drinking and crap food. I now know my mistake..
Also had a nasty mountain biking accident, and damaged my back and right knee. So whenever i go for a run now, end up; laid up for a couple of days with pains in my knee... its kind of a joint pain, as appossed to muscular pain.

now i'm tying to get back into shape.. alas the abuse from all that booze has taken its toll...

any ideas what exercises i could do to target my backside and love handles??
otherwise i'm doing well, got my chest and arms back, and a good V shape coming along, but i can't seem to shift the extra padding around my butt, and lower back. Looking for some low impact exercises, cause of my knee.

so all advice would be cool. Hope that someone here would have some good exercises that i could do to target these areas.

thanks in advance :) Andy

I'm hoping you have been working your entire body since you got back into it?

I'm not sure how bad your knee is, I would suggest squats, deadlifts, and leg presses, those will hit every from your lower back, quads, hams, glutes, everything. However, if your knee isn't able to do those, you could try lighter exercises...body weight lunges, light leg presses. Have you gotten it checked out by a doc yet?

Biking would be a better form of cardio because it has less of an impact on your knees

Its ironic.. have an accident on a bike and then get restricted to the bike for my cardio..

Yeah i have been working my whole body, not just the bits i've talked about, but thats where i've seen my best results.

i had the knee checked out when i first had the accident, was in hospital for a bit.. it was pretty nasty, thought it might be fit again now.. obviously not.

All i've been doing for my cardio is the bike and rowing. find that they have the best effects without with making my knee hurt (too bad). I tried a cross trainer at the gym thought that it would be rather low impact. But that makes my knee hurt the worse of all...

looks like i'll have to stick with the bike

cheers for the advice
anyone else wanna add feel freeeee... hehe

cheers
Andy

Ooooh, the rowing will burns tons of calories, I had almost forgotten, do you use a stationary bike at the gym or a regular bike...I had forgotten about the accident when i first posted

I use the stationary bike at the gym, and i ride my bike on the road too.. Whenever i get the chance. lol

yeah i like rowing, kinda devised my own little HIIT, on the bike and the rower to help shift the weight too.

will probably go and see a doc to be honest, see if theres anything he can do. Plus i'm getting back into my rugby, so if i'm fit enough and i get the chance to play for my old team.. they'll set me up with a physio, so that'll atleast save me some mulawh.. :D
