'Baaaaack in the saddle again!'

Not bad news...but not great either.

Eating was sooo sooo. Not going to win friends with the scale anytime soon if I keep it up.

And I got a cold coming on...at least I have a scratchyness at the back of my throat that isnt easing up.

Top it off....Im working nites all weekend which doesnt allow me a good rest when I get home in the morning....4 hours sleep if I am lucky.

So theres a slim chance (pardon the pun) that this virus will pass on by.

Good thing is I wont eat alot if Im not feeling well. :)

Got an inkling to get back on my oatmeal brekkie kick. If theres one food thats absolutely good for you...its oatmeal. (I don't know why I stopped eating it...lazy maybe)

Anywho...I gotta get back to work.

Have a great weekend!

Damn fell off again....I'm either gonna get a shorter horse or a sticky saddle.

My weight this morning (after an apparent few month diet sabbatical) is 213.

Food intake ...

1 cup steel cut oats with 1 tsp sugar, 3/4 cup of milk and a handful of frozen berries.

(This kept me goin for 3 hours.... )

I then rummaged thru the fridge and found a pork chop (from a physically challenged pig it was soo small) and a cup of steamed beans.

And 2 glasses of water.

I even had some motivation today to fix my Mom's house roof. Nothing major...just put some tar around the chimneys and a couple of spots but it must have been 35C up there. Sweatin like fish!

Supper is going to be a challenge as is the rest of the evening. I'm on a stretch of four night shifts...and me and food keep eachother company during the long nites. Gotta find something filling and lo cal to keep my mouth occupied.

Lets hope I don't get bucked off again :)

AHang on to that horse, we don't want to see you thrown off, good luck with the night shifts.

Thanks Tru. <Just brushed thru your diary and o m g! Your workouts are amazing! Keep up!>

Got thru my first nightshift...

It started out good....a coffee with some sweetner

Then had some pickles....and a couple of ounces of hard salami.

And then my stomach let me know it was not happy with my selection of food.

I was buckled over for at least an hour and a half....was not a happy camper.

But...it did curb my appetite for the rest of the evening.

Had 1/2 cup yogurt and a piece of cheese over the balance of the shift.

Not bad.

And onto my second night shift now.

Breakfast - 1130 hrs

1 cup steel cut oats with berries and 6 oz milk

Dinner - 1600 hrs

One broiled Italian suasage

One cup of rice

1/4 cup of kernal corn

Really stressed today....which caused me to lose my appetite again. Gonna get into a bit of trouble with the local building authorities cause I did some renovations without getting a permit. I think this will be an expensive lesson for me. :(

Oh well....so much for cutting corners.

I have alot of fruit and fresh veggies for snacking thru the night. Depending on how carnivorous I get, ( I get this insatiable urge for heavy protein every couple of days and today is the day) I might cook up some ground moose meat. I'll broil it to make it even more lean. Yeah....but later. Fruit time now :)

I dont measure my protein. I guess I should huh? Right now I am ballparking my calories and eating better foods. Without counting, I am tryng to minimize carbs...have some fats and eat more protein. I find veggies and fruits just dont give me that protein belly filled sensation. I dont know how to explain it. Give me a chunk of meat and I feel really content....give me the same portion as a banana and I feel I could eat three of them. Any suggestions ?

When I woke up this morning, I jumped on the scale. 211 :sifone:

Its only a 2 lb loss but its a pretty darn good motivator. Happy Happy!

Food yesterday at work:

8 oz ground moose meat with 1/4 cup peas and 1/2 cup asparagus. It was delicious. There was lots left over but I froze it for a rainy day.

2 small apples

1 cup of fresh cherries

1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt

1 oz of cheeze....really it was a small piece....but I'll err on the high side

I drank about 40 oz of water and three coffee.

I wasn't active at work...really tired for some reason.

Food today

1/2 cup of coffee

1 cup steel cut oats with berries and 6 oz milk

1 6 oz burger patty (i held off on the bun and condiments)

1/2 cup cucumber salad

Bout 20 oz water so far but that will change.

I also did as promised and bought some multivitamins. The suckers are huge!!! I almost thought to chew it before swallowing it but remembered I did that as a kid and it was not a chewable vitamin. BlehhhH! They were also expensive! $19.00 Can for 120 horsepills. But they are a brand name.

So we shall see if they help. So far, I don't think there is any change.

One more nite shift after tonite. Soooo looking forward to the weekend. Charity Golf Tournament on Friday...Italian Club Picnic on Saturday....Day at the cottage on Sunday.

Hopefully being away from the computer and WLF will not affect my diet. Its so motivating coming here to check in!

Still 211 so it wasn't just a dream.

Food yesterday at work:

6 oz ground moose meat with 1/4 cup peas and 1/4 cup asparagus. <yup leftovers>

1 apple

1/2 cup of fresh cherries

1 oz of cheese

Food today

1 cup steel cut oats with berries and 6 oz milk

three chicken fingers - ugh! but gawd they were good

1 handful - <yes really>...bout 10 shoestring french fries

6 oz of steamed sweet potato

1/2 cup of steamed cauliflower

I could have ate easily 6-7 of the chicken fingers....but I actually resisted.

And I took my second multivitamin. Who knows...maybe I was missin something cause I feel pretty good.

I don't know how my calories were cause the chicken fingers and fries arent with 'the program".

So I have to be extra careful tonite at work and eat low cal.

Tuna, some cucumber and some fruit is the plan.

hey Flumeboy, how's it coming along?

I had no idea there was actually something in existence called ground moose...let alone served in a work canteen. It does sound very much something that "manly men working in a power station or maybe a moose ranch" would eat!!!

Thanks for the note Jjjay. We have a full kitchen here at work so we can prepare pretty elaborate meals while working. Roasts, spaghetti sauce, fish fry's etc....and we also have a b-b-q to use outside. As for the ground moose, its really similar to beef but so much leaner. Meat isnt as marbled with fat, and steaks are surprisingly still tender. Unfortunately you always get some scraps of meat and not just steaks....so it gets ground into burger...hence the ground moose. Its very good.

I've had a busy week...

Last weekend was not the the most appropriate selection for a dieters menu. It consisted of a golf tournament with free food and alcohol. Saturday was our cultural Italian picnic with a dinner consisting of polenta and veal stew (or fish stew which was also good), Sunday was father's day here and my wife made my favourite....chicken wings. Its my own recipe and I hope to open up a little bar one day and have my wings as the only item on the menu...other than beer. lol

Monday was a stressful day....Long story short, I have a lot of work to redo in the garage due to not getting the proper building inspections done.

So the rest of the week was spent ripping out drywall and insulation in order to redo it all properly. (Still not done but 90 % complete.)

The good thing was my vitamins are definitely giving me gumption. I cant believe the hours of physical work I did and didnt get tired. But I am physically sore.

Monday to Fridays meals were pretty closely adjusted to my calorie intake. Most mornings it was oatmeal with berries and milk. Lunches were light with some fruit. And dinners were carb reduced and portions were an actual sane size.

Weight wise, I'm 212. One lb up but Im not too stressed over it. I feel alot more vibrant and energetic...and thats a good thing.

My vitamins appear to be working!!!

Now I'm going to get some motivation by perusing others diaries.

Take care :)

Flumes - sounds like a lot of hard work! I wouldn't get too hung up over the +1lb because if you are feeling more energetic and healthier with more "get up and go", probably getting towards a better balance of food/vitamins/getting your metabolism moving again - all that stuff. I am a great believer in: if you are feeling different then the long term stuff is probably comign soon....

Def coming to the Flumes bar...beer and chicken wings...what more could you want?!

AI agree with jjjay 1lb fit into the realm of fluctuations, if it becomes a regular gain without any losses it then becomes a problem.

Thanks Jjjay and Trusylver.

I have loads of energy. I cant believe it. So I dont mind the lil gain. Im just thrilled to be doing something other than sitting in front of the computer and wondering whats for supper lol

Im on nite shifts this weekend. I tried bringing in just veggies and fruits but I was just too hungry when I packed my food for work. I also had a craving for some Cheetos cheese snacks which I stopped to get along the way.

So far, I had a pretty good day for food....

Oatmeal and berries for brekkie.

1/2 a cucumber in a vinegar and oil salad

2 small pieces of chicken

1 small baked potatoe

tonite...

A 6 oz burger patty with some steamed veggies

1 cup of Cheetos. <cheat ohs>

1 apple

I still have two plums to snack on....and a can of tuna I have squirreled away somewhere.

It was another hot busy day....but I am almost finished gutting the interior of the garage. Less than a week for something I thought would take me a month.

There is a god!!

Asounds like your making super quick progress on the garage, just one of the benefits of more energy :)

Yeah... I am wandering. Both mentally and hungrily lol. I've been checking in but just browsing journals trying to get a lift with others losses.

I am still 212 but just not as excited bout it for some reason. Had a couple of bad homefront days that are just draining me emotionally.

(Chit...forgot my vitamin today and yesterday.) brb

Ok....back.

Food wise for the week has been meahhhh. Not bad but not great. I gotta curb my evenin snacks. Cheese and crackers is a killer for me lol

Now Im just waiting for the electrician to show up to give me a quote go thru the electrical in the garage. (The jerk has kept me waiting for three days...always a no show cause hes busy on other jobs. I should just drop him and look for someone else.)

Grrrr.

Anyways, before the day is done, I hope to be heading to the cottage. Looks like sunshine for the weekend forecast. Evenings should be around the bonfire with some fireworks for the kids. Hopefully I can keep my fire roasted hotdogs and s'mores to a minimum.

Take care

Hullo my sweet--I've missed you! Hope to see you posting again soon, I've just started my diary again. Back up to my starting weight (siiiiigh). Now have 6 weeks off work so no excuses. Come on, buddy! We can dooooo it!

August 31st.

I dont know where the summer went but it is pretty much gone in this neck of the woods.

So I didnt get down under 200 like I had hoped for. In fact, my scale said 216 this morning. I didnt think I was doing that bad. UGH!

Oh well....time to try again.

Breakfast this morning was oatmeal with banana berries and milk. - about 400 calories (good size portion but healthy right :)

Lunch is going to be tuna and fresh garden tomatoes. (We planted a garden this year and have a bumper crop of the best tomatoes in the world...Unfortunately, there is a small window of opportunity to enjoy them as they all ripen at about the same time.)

Snacks - I have a container of prunes (sweet treat), a plum and an apple

Supper - green beans and bbq chicken breast. (I will have two portions of chicken....sorry calorie count)

I got to put an effort into this. And getting my ass on here to talk about a good or bad day is at least somewhat of a start.

So this is a start to a good day :)

Flumes!!!

So nice to see you posting here again! 216 isn't bad...it could be worse! You can turn it around! I bet if you put your mind to it, the lbs will fall off and you'll be nearing 200 again in no time. You just need to do some manly exercise too like running and lifting things and DIY!

Big hugs and lots of cheering to spur you on!

Thanks Jjjay.

Always a pleasure reading your posts...and thanks for the encouragement. I'm gonna need it.

So this morning wasn't bad...but I cheated and snacked on two slices of toasted raisin bread. No butter, but still probably 100 calories apiece.

Lunch was tomatoes and tuna salad....(which offset the raisin bread by a few calories I hope.

But then I got hungry around 3:30 in the afternoon....and I had a container macaroni salad. With chunks of homecooked ham in it. Oh it was sooo good. I couldnt stop till it was all gone. (Oh well....I should be able to eat lightly for supper and call it a day)

Gotta start drinking more water again too....sheesh, how soon we forget.

Back tomorrow...promise :)
