Away we go

Back from the weekend..... Had to cut it short, My oldest son informed us at the last minute that he had to work on Sunday.....( he was wishing that we were going to leave him home alone ) Dad saw through this and just cut the camping short by a day. Which put him in a grumpy mood!!!!

While were were out we did a lot of hiking, which was great! And the eating.... I did pretty good. I did snack a little Sat night.... But made up for it on Sunday by hitting the gym hard!

My goal is within sight....need to work harder to get to it!

I am going to try to write in here more often.... that's a new goal!!!!

Had a good workout last night. Lately I have been having troubles with my knees while on the elliptical. That's the reason I chose to use the elliptical for my cardio, my knees gave me trouble on the treadmill or running outside. So after work I ran out and bought a knee brace. It felt great!!!!! I did 50 minutes on the elliptical and didn't have a hint of pain in my right knee.... but at 55 minutes, my left knee felt like it had a knife sticking in it! So I guess I will pick up another brace for my other knee tonight after work!

Weighed in at 190 last night!!!!! I am really getting pumped the closer I get to my goal! My wife is still after me to go buy some more clothes ( ones that fit ) but I want to be a little closer to my 175 goal weight before I buy to many. Guess that's just a thing in my head.

Had a great meal of grilled walleye and fresh green beans last night. It is nice to have the fresh garden produce starting to fill our plates.

K.....Had some errands to do at lunch, so I grabbed my turkey sandwich and and apple. Off I go, happy as a clam...then stop at the bank. FRESH CHOCO CHIP COOKIES. The reason I don't eat them at home.... cuz they are not allowed! I was doing really good til I left the bank, I don't know how the cookie ended up in my hand, it just did. It must have some magical powers or something. Then from hand to mouth.....

I hate to admit it...but it was really really good!!!!!!

AHey there IQ, i had to laugh at all the times you were faced with pizza. Seems we have a common foe :) It's cool you have the great ability to resist the temptation. Pizza is just so devastating I had to give it up completely and I dont really crave it anymore, but wow I had a hell of a struggle with it. Anyway, you're doing great, keep it up!

Back to the Grind!

I was on vacation this last week. Went up to the lake cabin for a week.... just me and my dog! My wife has a new job so she has no vacation, and the kids were at school..... so it was just me....and my dog! IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!! For me it is all about the fishing when I go there...get up early with a big thermos of coffee and hit the lake. Had a great time.

For exercise while I was there I took out the old rowboat and rowed for 2 hours a day.....felt great to do some actual work rather than just going to the gym. Then at night I would split some wood for the campfire.

Food was not a problem being I was there alone. When I am there with the family, they like "camping food" In other words...brats at night... and bacon and eggs in the am. So with just me I was able to keep to my diet......and the good news... I lost 3 lbs while I was there last week!!!!!!!

So now I am in the 180's again. CAN'T QUIT! need to push it to the next level..... I am 11 lbs from my goal weight!

Been a very hectic week.

First... its never easy getting back into the swing of things after a week away...both at home and especially at work! Tuesday, I missed my workout to go to my sons football game...WELL WORTH IT!!!!! Family first! NO MATTER WHAT!

Second.... trying to get back into the exercise mode! I missed Tuesday...but did make it into the gym last night. I did my lifting and by the end I had no NRG what so ever! Then when I went to take a shower....they were having trouble with the water.....so drive home a big sweaty mess!

Tonight I AM GOING TO THE GYM....I have to keep telling myself that now. The nights here have been fantastic, but getting shorter, so it's hard to miss out on the nice weather to run on an elliptical machine for an hour.....but it needs to get done.

I had another blood draw for my TSH levels on Tuesday. The nurse who "tried" to take my blood missed my garden hose sized vein 3 times before someone else stepped in and took it. My arm is now all black and blue from that fun time. I should find out today if I need to change my Thyroid meds. Hopefully I am on the right dose now and I don't have to have the fun blood draws anymore!

I haven't put on my menu for a while, so here goes....

Morning Shake with protien powder....( have this every morning and love it) 494 cal

snack apple....72 cal

lunch 1/2 chicken breast, apple, orange....345 cal

snack orange, 1.2 chicken breast ....260 cal

supper turkey sandwich on a flat bun with 1 slice of cheddar cheese and a cup of broccoli... 371 calories

Total for the day 1542 calories

Ran on the elliptical for 45 min last night..... felt great and was a great stress reliever. My boys are well....boys and are driving me crazy!!!!! So it's good that I get out and relieve my stress level.

Being it was Thursday, we normally go out with our friends, but 1 was sick, 1 was out of town, and the others didn't show up last night. So my wife and I sat and talked for a while. I forget how important that is. We get so busy with our normal day to day stuff, running here and there with the kids, we forget to just have nights to ourselves. We used to plan a "Date night" once a month, but as we got busier with everything, that kinda got dropped. We still have movie night or game night with the boys.....but thats not the same as the one on one with my wife.

Tonight after work, I have a lot of running around town I need to do, so I don't know if I will get to the gym. I am also planning a bon fire tonight in the back yard, maybe splitting some wood will relieve a little stress also.

Anyone out there want a 17 yo boy??? He doesn't talk much, doesn't do much work around the house, but has a lot of attitude that will be included in the deal...... Oh and he eats everything in your fridge too!

*Gasp* We're giving away children on here now?!?! I have an almost 8 year old and 4 year old I'd like to offer up.. lmao! My eight year old daughter has all the attitude of a teenager in a smaller more convenient size! :D

Anyway.... Just wanted to congratulate you on your 3lb loss!! You're so close to your goal. That's great! :)

Thanks Kiraamon..... This has been a year in progress. It has taken a lot longer this time, but I think in the long run, it has been way better for me and my body!

Thanks Jen!!!! I just need to remember that I'm NOT THERE YET!!!!!!! Fur lunch today we went out for a birthday party to Olive Garden.... yup... salad and soup for me! and only a cup of soup. NO BREADSTICKS!!!!! Thats the part that sucked. I love their breadsticks!

And trust me..... I would love to go back to the 8yo and 4 yo stages in life with my boys! They listened to dad and thought he was a genius! :coolgleama:

ANo breadsticks at Olive Garden?!?!!! You are stronger than I am. They are are so good. *dreamy sigh* lol! Great job resisting!! :)

Thanks Jen.....one of the things I do before going out to eat is look up on the web the calorie count of the meals at the restaurant I am going to... Makes it much easier to "just say no!"

I had a pretty good weekend..... We had a bon fire in the back yard on Friday, I had a few adult beverages while I was out. Funny on how after losing weight and keeping my calorie count low I have become a lightweight in the drinking department. The good news is that I could only have a few.

All in all it was a good weekend for me. I didn't get to the gym the way I wanted to. I had a lot of work to do around the house. This is going to be a challenging week for me to get to the gym, I have football games and meetings most of the week.

I made it to the gym last night after my sons football game. It was lifting night, and I felt GREAT afterwards. More and more I enjoy lifting rather than trudging along on the elliptical machine.....but tonight is elliptical night.....and I will go!!!!

Last night after I got back from lifting, my Oldest son (17) and I were horsing around.... I got him into a big bear hug from the back and when he was trying to escape....I heard a pop, and my son said he felt it. Seems I popped something where my ribs meet my sternum and it hurt like hell! I slept ok last night, and this morning I can really feel that something happened there.... but it's not too bad. I guess that just part of being 44...lol I might have to lay off the weights for a week or so, but I will see on Thrursday how I feel.

Tonight will also be a great night...because it is our first snowmobile club meeting. Looking forward to another great season!

Ok.... doughnut day has come and gone.... and I was a good boy...only smelled the doughy goodness!

I was not in the mood to go "run" on the elliptical last night. Got home, got my gym bag ready.....read the paper.......checked my e-mail.......played with the dog......checked my e-mail again......Dang, might as well get it over with. So off I went, and had a great night. Even thought my heart wasn't into it at all, I did 50 minutes and was a big sweaty lump when I was done! So I was glad that I went.

Tonight is our "Bridge night" so go out with friends for Pizza and beer....Pizza...why must you smell sooooo good? As far as the beer...no worries, I drink my diet pepsi or water.

I end up drinking way too much diet pepsi..... then end up staying awake all night!!!! I would be better off ending the night with a Crown and Coke!

I will be going there tonight right after I go to the gym, so that will be my motivation to stay away from the pizza.... All that effort would be gone in 60 seconds of scarfing down a whole pizza!

To be honest, I think my stomach would go into shock if I had the pizza...not used to the grease.

Back from our weekly night out with friends...

As I sat and watched everyone eat (including my wife) thick greasy burgers with bacon and cheese and wonderful smelling french fries.... I had my water....and was happy about it...lol

Before that I went to the gym and did my 6.7K on the elliptical in 45 min..... so it was a good sweaty workout!!!!!! When I got home I had a Turkey sandwich on flatbread, with a serving of broccoli. So I had my meal prior to going out...but the burgers did look fantastic.

I did my weigh in before my workout, and am now at 186...... I am under 10 lbs now to my healthy BMI !!!!!!! Although, I think the whole BMI thing is way out of whack.... it's a goal and I intend to hit it. I have become so used to eating the foods I do and going to the gym 5-6 times a week... it may be a bit weird trying to maintain once I hit my goal. And if they ever get my thyroid meds figured out, I will really have issues...lol
