Atkins diet

Yes it works but as soon as you start eating carbs again you will gain weight. At least as much as you lost if not more. It also makes you feel weak so it's difficult to do your workouts. I wouldn't recommend it.

Hi,

I have personally lost 60 lbs on the atkins diet. I was on it for about a year or so and then carefully watch what I ate. I kept it off for about 10 months after and lately am starting to gain some weight back. I am trying to do it the right, healty way. To answer you question, yes it does work, but you will get bored with the selection of food and start to cheat and slowly gain it back, and it is not very healthy....Its very high in fat...Your best bet is to try the right way for a while and see what happens, you can always do atkins later if that doesnt work. You will at least get a larger variety of food this way...

Whatever you decide I wish you luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

This should be a poster for the Atkins diet.

Everyone I consult with who have tried this diet end up gaining alot of weight back.

There's a reason the Atkins corporation went out of business =D

You're right though, it is short term. There are arguably long-term effects (ketone storage, as one example) but as a lifestyle it's not sustainable. At last check, fewer than 2% of Americans believed this diet worked - and this is why you see all these "low carb" restaurants closing their doors like mad.

I have a supplement website, but I also run a design and development company in the Silicon Valley. I had the pleasure of working with these two women who recently had to completely rebrand their business because the low-carb market was doing so badly.

Hmm, wish I could find that study about this...

Anyway, it said something about those on Atkins do lose weight. But some high number (like 75%+) gain it all back PLUS more. Atkins is ridiculous :D

I have tried atkins a few years ago but it is not a good diet you will take the weight off until you eat carbs again if you are looking for a good diet i would try a low fat diet.

The trick to getting a low body fat is cardio training (using fat as fuel), quality food/low calories (body does not store as much) and nutrient timing(providing your body with certain thing when it needs them.
Eating low fat will not necessarily make you lose fat.

Agreed 100%.

I went on a low carb diet where I ate lots of veggies and lean meat. I didn't eat sugary foods or refined carbs like that. I'd have dairy products though, and often one serving of (whole grain) carbs a day. It was easier to stay on a diet where there was so many things I specifically couldn't have (almost all unhealthy overprocessed foods are loaded with carbs). It's a better alternative to Atkins I think- I got great results.
