Ashys Diary

well i eat fast food, but not the greasy stuff :) just the salads and fat free dressings. you know... stuff most people dont want. lol

Food update:
Turkey 6inch sub (345)

subtotal for today: 689 calories. God i gotta go eat something!!! LOL!!!!

ill be back in a bit. helping hubby with his project. Its a pain. posting more in a bit.

Soft taco, bean burrito (580)
28 oz mtn dew (247.5) <- bad.

1516.5 calories for the day

OK the drink was a bad idea. it wont happen again.
I overshot my goal because i drank a soda. this sucks. Well, I know better now. I guess thinking htat i had so many calories left for the day it would be ok. Next time go with water. Its always the safer bet.
Lesson learned.

oooh, are you a supply teacher?? I'm just finishing up teachers college and will probably be supplying next year. Grade 5 music sounds interesting ;)

It is very rewarding to have many good days in a row! I had a good day today as well. I'm thinking of setting more exercise focused goals for myself.

But great job with sticking to it!! Sounds like you're well on your way to success :D

I don't have a teaching certificate. Georgia is so hard up for teachers they don't require it of substitutes. :) It works great for me and my schedule. And when i just don't feel like working I can turn them down. It's almost like a volunteer thing.
They don't promise you work, and you don't promise them you can work either. Just when both parties are in need.
Teachers are awesome. They do a lot for the world. So much people aren't aware of.
Yeah, thanks for the kudos. I feel kinda crappy about that last soda I drank. It put me over what I wanted to take in. But good news is I didn't go over my weight maintenance caloric needs either.
I think that was the bomb that I needed. To realize just how many calories are in those damn drinks. Enough to push you 200+ calories over your goal!

Deepgreen:
Damn, I haven't eaten any fast foods in like 3 months (unless chinise foods counts :/)
Chinese food can be good for you. Like sizzling rice soup. Omg. yum :p

ok one thing i have noticed after just reading my posts is that i keep saying the same freaking thing over and over about sodas.

so.... I just can't drink them!!!!!!!!!
I trade off so much food just to sneak one in.

drinking soda is the same as eating junk food except in a way its less filling! you could eat about 4/5 apples or even another meal for the same amount of calories and it would provide you with a better form of energy.
hope you manage to kick the soda :) have a lovely day

Picture this: an average can of soda has about 10 teaspoons of sugar.

Imagine, instead of drinking a can of soda, you drink a 12 oz glass of water and eat 10 teaspoons of sugar. Does that sound healthy?

I'm not much for pop (soda) us WA people call it pop lol. I drink it every now and then. I just don't like the caffeine headaches I get from it..

I think Its great your trying to kick the pop habit.. Good Luck! :)

Day 10

wow. i come back and I have all these messages.
They were all great suggestions, and comments.
Tamnix: Its a deal. I'm drinking diet from now on. No sugary drinks for me. Because.....
Deepgreen made a very valid point. (....hmmm the water + sugar idea.... /goes into kitchen, JK!)
and......
Jsforever: I have been drinking soda-pop (ill just hybrid the two for us, hehe) since before I can remember. My family didn't really give diet much thought. Their goals were to see that I was well fed, and satisfied. Not saying that my mom didn't care about my nutrition, because she did give me nutritious meals, but she was very slack on the treats/cola. You do raise a good point about the headaches. Caffeine is evil. And the sugar part I am sure has a lot to do with the headaches as well. Your body is craving it and when it doesn't get what its expecting its going to react. So, the sooner I stop doing this the sooner I'll get over that nasty withdrawal.
1st Goal: Stop drinking sugary drinks
2nd Goal: Stop drinking diet drinks all together.

Sophie335: You're aboslutely right. I think thats what hit me like a truck last night. I'm getting there mentally in acceptance. Its really so sad to see myself being so clingy to a liquid.

Food stuffs:
Late morning:
Turkey club (577) - Looking for a quit something before class. slept in. tasted pretty good.
diet mtn dew (0)
mid-day:
diet vault (0)
would like a snack, but everything around here is too bad or too far away.
maybe i should carry something with me.
Anywho time for class again. Updates coming later. :)

Hey! Yeah, it's definitely hard to kick something that is such a daily part of your life...when I quit coffee I exchanged it for tea...just for the satisfaction of quitting coffeee, then I switched to herbal tea (no caffiene) and now I sometimes don't have anything...or just the herbal tea...it's definitely not easy. Try Orange juice, or a healthy beverage that you can replace it with that maybe has some flavour? (Apple juice etc)?

Sounds like you're still doing well with the food though! Keep it up :)
~Nic~

Ewwww... Deepgreen, thanks! Now I don't want to drink soda... any other options? Other then water of course. And besides, for me, another thought is "do I really want to get my son addicted to caffiene?"... no not really!

Haha, I must be Tamnix! ;). I find that fruit juice is helpful because it's sweet (but not the sugarry punches..actual fruit juice). ALSO if you can buy frozen berries and make smoothies, it's always a nice healthy treat :)

~Nicole~

A good thing to try is Crystal light I love that stuff I carry the Little Packets you put in water where ever I go.. I like it cause Its sweet..And Only 5 cal.. and I love the propel fitness water also.. again Good luck :)

Good stuff gals.
I love crystal light.
But if you're trying to stay away from fake sugar Tamnix you could try propel.
Its flavored water with only 30 calories a bottle. No fake sugar, but a lot of sodium.
The taste is pretty good. And now you can get it in the little packets like the ones that Jsforever was talking about for crystal light that you add to bottled water. (cheaper)

I'm glad people bring this stuff up, because when I'm feeling like I got to have a certain something I have tunnel vision and can't think of anything else sometimes.

Food stuffs update:
Turkey 6inch sub (345)
1 cup of water (0)
Subtotal for day 10: 922
I have the other half of my sub waiting for me for a little bit later to make:
1267 the total for my day

High point for today: I made an A on an exam! Woooo And if I put effort into my finals I can make an A in several of my classes for the semester.
Low Point: Um... Don't really have one for today. Woot.

I picked up a copy of WW's magazine. Boy.. for a magazine that is based on losing weight it sure did have a lot of food pictures in it :p. It did have some good recipes like orange beef with rice noodles. I think I might try making that this weekend.
And I read about Jenny McCarthy's weight gain. How she got up to a size 14-15 after her pregnancy. Now shes a size 4 again. It was kind of refreshing to read about this glamorous icon getting heavy. Especially one who is famous for her body. More human, and less perfect as most of the media would like us to see them as.

Good stuff, good stuff. I like your goals ;)

tamnix: that was the goal ;)

I've stopped drinking soda and "kool aids" for quite some time now. The last time I drunk a soda, I had no choice, i was doing a job at some ladies house, and she offered me a coke; i politely asked if i could get a glass of water instead, and she said she didnt' have any ( >( ).

I only drink water and 100% juices now (and I hardly drink juice now, I prefer to eat the actual fruit - more filling and much more nutrious)

Its a hard habit to break, but when you think of all that sugar you consume...and then you research about the harmful stuff about artifical sweetners, you realize that, the one, the only, the one that has always been there, H2O, is the best choice.
