I am starting (again) to work towards my weight loss goal today. I would like to lose 25 lbs. I am currently at my heaviest being 150lbs. I am going to try to lose it by doing the P90X workouts, (has anyone had any luck with this?). I keep starting them and getting 2 or 3 days in and I am so sore I give up. I am supposed to be leaving on vacation to the Dominican Republic in 25 days and I really don't want to go looking like I do. I know I won't lose all the weight before then, but even 10lbs would make me happier. I feel so uncomfortable in my own body. I look foward to giving an update each day on how I did.

Can you give us a few details about yourself? Height, age?

What are your plans? How do you intend to achieve your goal?
I see you plan on using the P90X, but what about your diet?
 
Hi, Ashley, you're going to LOVE the Dominican Republic! It has the most beautiful beaches of all the islands I've visited so far! You can make a significant difference in the next 25 days. First of all your exercise sounds good--anything you do that makes you sweat, huff, and puff, will be great. If you're sore afterwards, you may be doing too much at once or working out too intensely at first. Try breaking your exercise sessions in half and doing one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Your metabolism will like that too. To lose weight quickly, without sacrificing your health, you may want to look into the 5-4-3-2-1 diet. (You can google it.) You choose the foods you eat, but they need to be highly nutritious to keep you satisfied and to keep your metabolism strong. The diet helps you limit your portions. I had good luck with it! Good luck to you and have a blast in the DR!
 
I am almost 24. I am 5'5. I really just plan on trying to eat healthier (grilled chicken, salads, veggies, friuit) and start exercising. Trying to stop eating when I start to get full. I am a person that will eat until I am so uncomfortable because I like what I am eating, rather than stopping half way through when I am full and thinking-"I will just eat the leftovers tomorow" I really just need to change my mindset on food. I eat it because it is comforting. I am looking up some new recipes on allrecipes.com to try. I am bad at eating the same "healthy" options over and over again thinking I can't eat anything else and I tend to burn out easily. I also think a big change for me will be to change my eating habits at work. I work in a busy hospital clinic where we don't usually get to take a lunch, so most days I find myself in the cafeteria grabbing something quick and not good for me and throwing it down my throat on the way back up to the clinic so we can stay caught up. I think maybe bringing food from home and taking a bite or two in between rooming patients and charting would help me determine that I actually get full a lot faster than I think I would.

I know I can't change everything at once or I will never stick to it. But I figure if I can start preparing healthier meals and starting to exercise at least 3-4 days a week right now it is a start!!

Ok well my workouts still offically haven't started. The last couple of days have been so incredibly busy (I know, I know, excuses). I am getting ready to look for some healthier recipes online and I am going to the store as soon as I leave work. I am also planning on grilling a bunch of chicken tonight so I have some to eat while at work the next couple of days and for salads. I think taking a lunch to work with me every day may help out as well, since I am eating really unhealthy in the cafeteria in the hospital. I also am trying to keep track of my calorie's on mydailyplate.com. I have never been a calorie counter so this is proving to be difficult for me!!

Well I was initially wanting to lose weight before vacation which is now 22 days away (its amazing how fast time sneaks up on you) now I would say by new years, or somewhere around there.

What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
my love for food :) and bad foods at that!!

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I hate working out and I love bad foods. For some reason this doesn't work in my benefit ;)

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Portion control. Stop eating when I am full-not when I'm ready to explode. Drinking a lot of water!! Healthier options for meals

Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
I've never had a weight issue until now. I want to stop it before I spiral out of control

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I continue to eat unhealthy and not take care of myself. I am no longer a 102lbs cheerleader with an amazing metabolism....though I wish that metabolism would return!!

What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
Eating only three meals a day. I always feel starved when I limit myself instead of having several small meals throughout the day. When I know I can have food whenever I want, I tend to not think about it as much!

Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
I am trying to do this.

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
I am trying to be better about this and not let the "im too busy to cook" back into my life.

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
I eat out quite a bit. Jimmy johns. Taco Johns. Chinese.

What are your three favorite foods?
chicken enchiladas. chinese (seseme chicken and fried rice) and pizza

What are your three favorite restaurants?
Taco Johns, Pj's deli, and Jimmy Johns

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
smaller portions, drinking plenty of water, stopping when I am full

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I would have more confidence in myself

I havent been. I am just starting. I am going to try to do P90X and walking.

i am still working on trying to like exercise. I enjoy walking

daily-to stick with eating how I am supposed to and get my workout in/weekly-to at least lose one pound/monthly- to lose about 4-5lbs and yearly to lose the 25lbs

Do you have rewards for certain goals?
I want to enjoy shopping again!! I stopped buying clothes because mine are currently starting to feel snug and I need to deal with it, not buy the next size up!!

Today has started out good so far!! I woke up feeling energized and got to work and had a glass of orange juice and an omelet (2 eggs, green peppers, onion, tomato, and a little cheese, with salsa on top) I couldn't even finish it all. :) I grabbed a special k bar (90 cal) that i plan to eat when I get hungry later!
 
Awesome! Its always nice to get up to a good start.
Your omelet sounds delicious.
 
Continuing to do well as the day has gone on. I ate my omelet this morning. For lunch I actually got a lunch break at work and had time to sit and enjoy my meal and eat slowly so I could tell when I was full (this hasn't happened in probably 6 months!!) I ate:

3oz of cajan pecan chicken (175cal)
1/4 cup cottage cheese (70cal)
1/2 hard boiled egg (not sure cal)
1 bottle propel water (20cal)
I made sure to set my fork down inbetween bites and I tried to sit for about a minute in between bites. It was amazing how little food it took me to be full!!!

for an afternoon snack I had a special k bar which was 90cal.

Everytime I have to run labs downstairs for lab I take the stairs and am making myself actually run up and down them (approx 20 stairs.)

I am currently still at work and starving so I got an 8oz bowl of cream of broccoli soup (149cal).

Currently I have only taken in about 615 cals today (supposed to be at 1500) while leaves me about 900 cals for dinner when I get off tonight at 8-8:30 if I want!!

My goal is drinking more water and starting to work out more than the walking I am already used to at work!! Tomorrow I am planning on getting up early (my day off!) and going for at least a 2 mile walk! More if I can!! Thanks for all your support!

Today has been alright so far. I did get up and go for a walk with my dog. Needless to say he burned out before I was ready to stop. We walked once around this big pond by our house which is 1.22 miles. I don't think he was going to make it around again so we went home. I was starving at lunch from my walk and because I woke up late and didn't eat breakfast. For lunch I had 2 Oscar Mayer Jalapeno Cheese hot dogs (160cal a piece) I had each of them on a bun (110 cal a piece) and a little ketchup on top (1 tbsp total 15cal) for a total of 555 cal. I also ate a little debbie brownie with walnuts in the afternoon (i know real healthy right?) 330cal. So I am at a grand total of 885cals at 5:30. To stay at or under my 1500cal goal I can only eat 615 cals for the rest of tonight. I think dinner is going to unfortunatly be fast food tonight since we are busy-but I plan on trying a salad somewhere with no fat dressing. Hopefully I can keep under my calorie count. I am wanting to try to wake up early in the morning before work and see if I can't make it 2 laps around the pond (without the dog this time) to get close to 2 1/2 miles.

So this weekend was not a good one. So I am trying to pick up the pieces again today and start over. It's amazing how two days can have such an impact on your weight. I gained one pound. Which I am a little down about. So far this morning I have ate an omelete with 2 eggs, green peppers, onion,tomato and cheese with some salsa. I decided to cut out the orange juice though I really wanted some and have water instead. I am hoping to maybe even get a lunch at work today so I can go for a walk.

I understand being busy one of the things I did was I bought a bike and started riding it everyday right after work you can do that even when you get off late put a headlight and a flashing tail light on it and go start out with a 10 min ride for a week then go up 10% every week.

Thats how I got started now I go to the gym at least 4 days a week and ride my bike the other 3 sometimes I take Sundays off.

If you really want to get the 25lbs off you have to make time to work-out you are worth it!!!
