Anyone in the army UK or US

I'm hoping to join the army this yr or early next yr as a combat medical tech.

I was wondering if there was anyone who knew how much time you get for weight training in the army, and if the exercise involved in the actual army training stopped you from from doing weight training compleatly.

In the US I think basic training has little or no weight training. When recruits fail their physical tests then they get sent back to conditioning, which has weights. It varies what kind of department you go into but for Marines I think there are mostly bwe's. I'm not entirely sure, just going off what I've learned and retained in the past.

Well I know for certain the Navy Boot Camp Fitness Test consest of:
Sit and Reach: Knees, feet together reaching out with both hands and touching your toes for 2+ seconds
Push-Ups: 50+ in 2 Minutes -Knees touch the deck your done rest up up position or hold the plank
Sit Ups: 36+ 2 Minutes -Arms crossed across chest touching shoulders, feet 6 or so inches from your ass, sit up till your elbows touch your knees or legs and shoulder blades must touch back down to the deck. If you rest in the down position your done, so rest in up position
Mile and 1/2: Under 14:00 -If you walk your done, run slower to catch breath

If you fail one, you fail them all.

Now they might have adjusted it since I last went.

None of the US branches incorporate weight training in their basic training regime. However once you graduate from bootcamp and go off to your specialist schooling, you're able to visit the gym and do whatever training you wish. Even in the Marine Corps while in bootcamp, we did no weight training, however the other training that is done, some could be considered an alternate to it.

Ok thanks. I may be able to let you know in Jan. I know you have to oppertunity to train i just wondered if weight training would impeed on the things you have to do over the next few days. i.e. if u just worked bi's and traps and the nxt day u hade to carry planks of wood for miles. that would suck
