they go over their calorie limit.

I was drinking last night and I felt so bad about all the calories I was taking in!

Is that normal?

I think it's very normal to feel guilty, at least I do.

I feel like I cheat myself if I go over my limit. I work everyday to keep it to a limit and then going over it just kinda ticks me off lol.

It is totally normal.

I think for most of us, the natural reaction when overdoing it is to feel bad about it.

The important thing, though, is not to dwell on it but to simply resolve to do better tomorrow. Every day is a new day.

when over doing my calories i feel horrible and very depressed when i drink :D thats a different story....i feel great relaxed let loose and even like a cigar :D i dont even count it as calories i know thats not reality but there it is

well like it or not, thats the only thing i make exceptions for and until the day i day drinking once a month aint gunna hurt my weight loss, i have been doing it for the last 2 years and dont plan on quiting.......

Yes, I believe so. It is a choice we make, no one can do it for us, no one is forcing us. Remember ****To Own Your Choice****

so what are you going to do about it then?

feeling guilty is useless unless you're willing to make a change for the next time...

If you're continually repeating the behavior and just embracing the guilt -you've got a problem.

I feel guilty too but hey I am just human I commit mistakes. Right after that mistake I go back to my ordinary routine of exercising and eating healthy watching over my calories ofcourse.

I think one of the biggest things you can do to make healthy choices about eating, drinking, and your weight is to stop letting food control you emotionally.

(And believe me, I say this as someone who has linked food with emotion for a long time.)

I think it's normal to feel guilty when you go over your calories at first, but at some point you have to own the choice. When you drink, you are CHOOSING to consume those calories, just as you CHOOSE to eat a chocolate bar, or a piece of cake, or a cookie.

Now, mind you, I drink. I had a couple of beers last week with dinner, and I had vodka last night. But ... I CHOSE to drink. And last night's vodka I figured into my calories for the day and didn't go over.

I don't feel guilty about it, any more than I feel guilty about eating burgers and drinking beer on Thursday. I was a little annoyed with myself Friday morning when I weighed in, but I knew I would be.

If you're eating or drinking something and you feel guilty about it, maybe it's a sign you shouldn't be eating or drinking it ... right? :) And if you choose to continue doing so, then make that choice and own it and move on.

IMO, that's the healthiest way to deal with it.

@KaraCooks totally agree.

I've recently got back from vacation in Spain and had gained 2.5lbs over 2 weeks. Now I know that's not a huge amount but I did expect to gain some.

Why? Because I was well aware that I was eating at irregular times and snacking on things I probably shouldn't have been eating.

The thing is I haven't beat myself up over it... I fell off the 'Weight Loss Horse' but I brushed myself off and got back on again.

I know I only too well if I had tried to resist the cravings they would eventually have just grown into one massive binge out.

You will feel guilty but you shouldn't let it bother you unless it's happening on a much more regular basis.
