what is fives?

Handball, basically you have two teams, two goals. Try to get the ball in the goal. You throw the ball and dunk it in the grond (I don't know the real phrase to use, ok?) as you walk.
 
Just an FYI, the 'hit off the wall' handball was invented in Ireland!

The game you're tlkaing about in Olympic handball...and yes Karky you dunk it against the ground when you shoot...although you don't have to, its just to make it harder for the goalkeeper
