Any doctors specializing in weight loss in Orange County, CA?

Hi,

I have gained 70 lbs after my 2 pregnancies within the last few years and I have not been able to lose and keep the weight down. I have tried Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig without success and so have most of the people I know that joined either program. Some of them would lose weight but not keep the weight. One of my friends tried to lose so much weight so quickly that her doctor told her that would be dangerous for her and she needs to be followed by some physicians that specialize in weight loss and those programs do well in helping people lose the weight and keep them off. She is at a program in the East Coast now and doing really well with this particular doctor-monitored program, and I was hopeful and going to join but I had to move out to Orange County in California for family obligations. With all the stresses of everything, I am eating more...I am lost and discouraged that I will never be able to look the way I did before I had kids. Happen to know any good doctors like this in this area? I really don't know what to do. HELP!!!

why weren't those programs successful for you?

your family physician, even your children's pediatrician should be able to suggest a doctor for you - barring any physical issues for not losing weight such as thyroid issues, which is a pretty simple blood test a doctor can run, as long as you are taking in less calories than you burn off - you should be able to lose weight.

A bariatric doctor specializes in obesity and if you felt you needed one, a doctor who already knows your history would be your best bet for a reccommendation rather than an internet forum.

You do not need a doctor, personal trainer and so forth to lose weight. Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers are both bad programs as they promote unhealthy caloric deficits and don't focus on the proper exercise needs for fat loss. If you list your stats, goals, daily diet in detail and any routine you are following right now we could better assist you.

Ck out this doc in Irvine....

Hi,

I've tried weight watches and Jenny C.(Lost the wt but gained it bk) I finally went to this doctor in Irvine. I really like his approach... I like the fact that they have both Registered Dietitian and a physician on board. It's a 12 weeks program... I've lost 15lbs after the program and still losing. They encourage 1-2.5lbs per week, which is very reasonable. Not only weight loss - they also helped me with my cholestrol and blood sugar. At the end of the program, my primary doc. was able to take me off those medications and he is very satisfied with the result. Well, all I'm trying to say is... with my personal experience and what I've learned from them was it is a "life-style" changes and there is no quick fix. For me being 20-30lbs overweight, I have done some damage to my health and at risk of a lot of chronic illnesses. Also, by randomly losing weight, it can do my body more harms.
I'm all about seeking for professional!! I hope this message has helped you in some way. I really understand your frustrations... I've been there before.
