Ankle pain

I had an ankle arthroscopy operation a few years ago after having some bone damage from playing football. It was actually a silly decision and my ankle has been a lot worse. If I accidently stub my toes in the ground the pain in my ankle is agony when the foot jars. This sometimes happens when cycling too.

So I'm looking for some advice on exercise I can do to strengthen the ankle. I sometimes do the wobble board which helps and walking on tip toe along with step ups on the stairs.

Many thanks if you can help

You should definitely see a Physiotherapist for a complete post-surgical rehab routine for your ankle. There is a lot to consider in your case that would only be discovered after a thorough assessment from a qualified professional.

I wouldn't recommend checking the internet forums for ankle strengthening exercises that people suggest because you may actually worsen your condition. I myself wouldn't even make a suggestion without in-depth information about your case and a good assessment of my own. Even then, I would likely refer you to a Physiotherapist who specializes in this type of rehab.

You don't want to mess with injuries, you will regret it later. It's better to go through the pain and discipline of proper rehabilitation rather than the regret of having permanent discomfort.

Thanks very much for your reply. Most appreciated.

I have had two periods of physio concerning this injury but a long time ago now so there are some exercises I remember from back then. But I think you're right, it could be time to go back.

Cheers

The quick treatment is essential for such kind of pain. I would suggest you for having a good treatment of physiotherapist. Also to clear and improve your diet in means of adding good and nutritious food.

just like everybody is saying, i also do think that you should see a physiotherapist. they could give you better advice on which exercise you should be doing.
