Ankle Injury

During Football practice, while I was recovering a fumble my ankle twisted really bad. I couldn't have any pressure on my foot and my teammates had to carry me to the bleachers and the coach had Ice on the injury. The swelling was huge! Like there was a tennis ball in the side of my foot.

I wen't to the doctor and he said it doesn't look like there is a broken bone but he's gonna check the smaller bones, ligaments, and stuff like that.

I really think theres torn ligaments. I'm in pain on the right, left, and top of my ankle. I woke up this morning and it hurts worse then it did yesterday.

Sad thing is, I was having the best practice I had ever had and they were talking about me starting :(

that sucks dude, best of luck!
I'm sure you diden't break a ligament, those suckers are pretty strong! Things like this can look worse than they are, just remember that ;)

Its been a week and I wen't to the doctor again. I didn't get an MRI scan because the doctor said either way I would be treating it the same way so it was unneccessary. She determined it was just a bad ass ankle sprain and I have to see the doctor again in 2 weeks.

2 more weeks with these damn crutches

I know exactly how you feel man. When I was 18 I made nationals for soccer and broke my ankle about a week before I was leaving for the soloman islands messing round on a mates dirtbike. Its ended my soccer career and I will never get those years back.

Just make sure you get it better before you train on it again.

I was a trainer all four years in high school and witnessed many severe ankle sprains. I have also experienced several really bad sprains myself. It is very important to give your ankle time to heal and do exercises to strengthen the muscles that were stretched during the sprain. Once you sprain/strain those ligaments and muscles, they will be more prone to injury in the future. Some of the exercises that you can to strengthen the muscles are dosi-flexion with a theraband (point toes up towards the ceiling) and plantar flexion (hold the theraband under your toes and point toes toward the floor). It's important to get a full range of motion, so that includes inversion and eversion (pointing soles of feet inward and outward). Another good rehab move is to write the alphabet with your toes using the theraband. If the swelling doesn't decrease within two weeks, you may need to use some compression and massage to get the excess fluid out of that joint (it's usually a little painful, but it is important to get the fluid out of there). Before you practice again, it's probably a good idea to tape your ankle.

Just gonna update the injury.

I didn't wanna sit out the last week of my season. So I decided to go ahead and play the last week. I limped around a little bit but I did alright. Though the last practice I kinda reinjured it..But its not as bad. The game, last night, I had it taped up. The game was close so I didn't get to go in. We have practice Monday. I'm just doing whatever I can to keep it healing right now. The doctors are not gonna be pleased Tuesday because it was suppose to be fully healed by now.

They arnt that strong karky.
Considering the lateral ligaments are often torn.
You may have done that or maybe even worse, an avulsed fracture
which is where the ligaments tear off and bring so bone fragments with it.

Why didnt they take x rays thats a joke...seriously

Football Season Ended and we made the playoffs. I didn't play in any of the games. I played 3 games this year and thats it.

I still have a month left on my ankle. Wen't to the doctor yesterday and found, specifcally, that I partially tore the Calcaneofibular Ligament which does take a while to heal.

I decided not to start Wrestling. Theres a rule that all injured players must attend the practices. So I'm not staying 2 hours after school everyday and watch a wrestling practice where I can't participated. I just that during most of the football season and its a big waste of time. I decided to look for a part-time job and plan on buying some sparq training equipment that would be very useful.

I started back lifting. I can't do any squats but I can Deadlift.
