Andreaslim Diary

You are doing so awesome! You are helping to motivate me to keep it up! :) Thank you!!

It sure is hard when you are a mom - I am wishing that I took more time to be healthier before I had kids! Well, I am going to start now becuase my future self will probably say - I wish I took more time to be healthier before I had school age kids/teenagers/etc!!

I like the idea of a special plate to help with portion sizes - I think I will steal that one from you!

I think I will also steal your motivational picture idea too! That should help me get ready for my sister in law's wedding in Hawaii in December. I too - don't want to be the biggest mom in the kiddy pool!! I also would like to buy a swim suit that doens't come from the maternity store

Keep up the good work! Remember slow and steady wins this race!!!

Thanks very much! Yes, when I print out my diet checklist, I always change the picture on the corner. This week it's the resort where I am going on hol this summer. one was scales, another was a before and after girl, another was a girl in a really big pair of trousers (after weight loss). I dont know what I'm gonna do for next week. You motivate me too coz you are the only one who respond LOL:)

About swim suits, I always use a full top (not bra top) and a skirted bottoms, how sad is that? I am usually the only one to be so covered. I hate the tops of my legs and being a mum, having to bend down to play with n help the kids every five seconds, It's not very flattering LOL. This year I may go for a bikini top (if I get rid of my gut by then) but have a shorter skirted bottoms, a bit sexier but still covering my bits hahaha. My hubby has promsed me a new dress if I lose weight, I asked him.

I need to choose a smaller plate, just dont want to.

So last night I did 6 km/ 40 mins with exercises after.

Week 4 day 3: Today:

wholewheat bread, light philly, 4 olives

2 mini cucumbers

carrot salad with vinegar,
ravioli with yoghurt, small bowl lentil soup
apple, small banana muffin (oops but it was great!)

tonight try to be good and do exercise again!

report back later!

HI AS!! Thought I'd stop by your diary and see how your doing. Looks like your doing FANTASTIC!! keep up the good work!!! I'm curious, how many cals are you consuming each day??

I hear ya on the bathing suites. I personally like to wear a Takini. I like the shorts style on the bottom. Don't know that I'll ever wear somethign different, even if I do lose all my weight, lol

Thanks for stopping by Korrie, nice motivation from you! I may go for a tankini, shorts bottoms this time, since it still hides the tops of my legs, but it's just my dimply bum LOL. If that goes, it's a deal.

About calories, hmmmm,I'm supposed to eat 1800, if I do exercise 3- 5 times per week, but I find myself consuming more most days, I'm guessing:

Around
250 breakfast
800- 1000 lunch
750 dinner

(200) coffee, water and small snacks too, at least 2000. I dont see how people do a vlcd!!!! I know I should cut something at lunch but I'm soo hungry AND I love the food at work! But I never eat the bread or dessert any more and I've started leaving things, which is NOT me! I'm being good a lot more than I ever was and water and exercise have entered my life, I will find a balance soon enough I hope.

Last night I did 6km/ 40 mins + tummy n leg exercises.
Dinner was a spinach dish and half a chicken breast and salad. I was pretty good yesterday, except for the mini muffin!

This morning I'm ready to have another good day! :driving:

Its nice to read about the nice healthy food you are eating and you are doing good with the exercise.

Can you share your lentil soup recipe please? I am always looking for good ones. Cheers
Andrea

Thanks 44, I will share two good Turkish lentil recipes with you. Just need to type them up later.

I really really feel that this forum and my daily diet checklist is helping me to do this!

Forums help me quit smoking and persevere with problematic breastfeeding. Thanks to forums:)

Wow! I think i just noticed that you are living in Turkey. Fantastic. I love turkey. I spent 9 months there back in 1988/89 over winter. We were living in Fettiye on a boat. I made it up to Istanbul and then went to cappadocia in winter. Fabulous. We also went to Ankara, Antalya, Konya and other coastal places like marmaris and bodrum.

I bet things have changed a lot since then.

The food there is excellent. And at the time, really cheap.

Do you have a recipe for the way they make their bread too. There's is one of the best breads i have ever eaten. Yes i know its white bread but it was so good. I am supposing that the bread i used to eat in Fettiye is eaten throughout the country. it was a fat white loaf with a golden crust. It had a nice chewy quality to it but not as chewy as italian bread. I know its from the oil. I'd love some today. If that's too hard don't worry. It might also be reliant on the type of flour too.

You are lucky to be there. Are you teaching in Istanbul?

Wow - 6km in 40 mins!!! That is amazing! Good for you! Keep it up!
Your meals sound so yummy. I think I need to work on making our meals healthier - I will be scoping out what you're eating for inspiration!

Week 5 day 2

Just deleted the ticker because I couldn't edit it and I have better things to do with my time.

Started using a really good site for calorie counting. Very very useful for me.

So weigh in

96.3 start
94.3 wk1
93.7 wk2
92.9 wk3
92.5 wk4

Not very good I know. hmmmm I so wanna get in the 80s. Anyway, just done 6km + tummy n leg reps.

I dont like having my weigh in on Sundays after I have been cheating on Friday n Saturday. Maybe I should have weigh in on another day.

lol - I know what you mean about having your weigh in day after a cheat weekend! That is too funny! Why don't you weigh in Friday mornings? That might also give you extra incentive to not have too many cheats on your cheat days becuase of all the good progress you have made (rather than seeing the damage that you did when weighing in after cheat days!) Just speaking from personal experience - not intended to offend, and just becuase it worked for me in the past - doesn't mean it will for you (or even for me now - yikes, how things have changed!) :)

So weigh in

96.3 start
94.3 wk1
93.7 wk2
92.9 wk3
92.5 wk4
91.2 wk5

I decided to start weighing in on Fridays and have Friday evening at cheat night. It makes more sense to me and I wont lose motivation. So this morning I weigh 91.2kg! I guess I am doing something right!!! I keep a better tab of my calories with a calorie counter now and I am really really happy with it. So I have lost 5 kg now and I know I need to lose a lot but noone seems to be noticing:( well except for my hubby but maybe he is just motivating me? Anyway, whatever, the scales keep going down and I am slowly slowly getting there:) So YEAH for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are doing well. Keep it up.

One question. Are you trying to drink 4 litres of water a day. Its a lot! I can't drink that much.

Thanks 44 for the encouragement. Yeah I walk around all day with a 1/2 litre bottle in my hand. it's 10 am here now and I have already had 2, so 1 litre. I usually have 3 before lunch, 3 after lunch and 2 or 3 in the evening during and after exercise. Some days it's 3 litres, but most days it's 4 or more. I think it really helps me! But I also like coffee and wine.

I want to answer your previous qs. I am in Ankara teaching primary level. Did you enjoy it when you were over here? I'm from the UK. I must get those Turkish lentil soup recipes for you but I'm afraid I dont know how to make the bread but I can ask a Turkish friend. It's nice having you around, you have a lot to contribute, knowledge and motivation, thanks:)

Thanks Andrea. My name is also Andrea.

Yes we loved Turkey. We had a fun time in Ankara too. It was winter and i had to do some stuff at hte embassy. We had our cat with us. We took him to the museum. He came inside with us and the people didn't mind. We had been trying to keep him secured in a woven basket but he kept escaping and tried to run outside. The receptionist just watched us with out shenanigans for ages before we asked if we could put him somewhere and that was when he said we could take him in. He followed us all around as we went on our guided tour with an old historian guy. At one point when we were standing in front of a lifesize display of a stone age campsite, we saw out cat climbing all around the set.

There's no way you could get away with anything like that here.

I have so many fond memories, especially those travels with our cat (who was greek by the way!)

Never mind about the recipes. I thought it would be easy. Ditto the bread.

And thanks for the compliment.

I should say, did you read the discussion we had on my diary thread about water. To cut to the chase, Amy gave us a link to water intoxication on wikipedia. I think you should at least read it and note that a guy got this condition (and survived) from drinking only 8 litres a day ie not much more than you.

The normal recommendation is about 2 litres per day. But you obviously haven't had a problem with it to date. Its worth understanding anyway. We wouldn't want you to die of drinking too much water.

Yes, some days I think I drink too much! I'm going to slow it down. having said that, I have had hardly any today. It's childrens day today and I have been entertaining both kiddies all day,fun but tiring. Having a nice glass of white.

I did the worst thing today and finsihed the kids food that they didnt eat, and it was naughty stuff. BIG mummy mistake Oh, need to get back to being good tomorrow but for tonight, I'm happy it's been a happy fun day for the kids and I. When they go to bed I can ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh relax!

It sounds like you enjoyed yourself. I'm glad for you. And yeah it is hard to resist that stuff. I would struggle too if i had to clean it up. Wine is daily indulgence. But funnily enough in recent months, this one glass a day represents more than i usually drink. I never used to drink anything on a day by day basis.

I responded to you on my post.

Well I passed the 100km mark on my cross trainer tally the other night which was quite nice, even though I havent been very diligent recently.

Keeping my weigh in to Fridays and still using mfp for writing all my diet and exercise.

A few people at work have commented saying I look thinner. That's nice. Was going through my old clothes bag today and looking forward to being able to wear some of it this summer I hope.

Other than that,.... same ole......
