I'm all about support groups, so here are some details. I'm a 27 year old male. I've always been chubby. Got worse at the beginning of college and then just full on blew up on me, literally. I've already lost some but am still a ways from my overall goal. The heaviest weight that I know of was 278lbs a few years ago. I've lost to the weight below through "diet" and exercise. I'm beginning my next phase tomorrow. Anyway, without further ado, my questionnaire...
- What is your current height and weight? 5'7 214lbs
- If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 175lbs
- At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 185lbs (this is a semantics question, as I'd LIKE to be at 175lbs)
- Why do you want to lose weight? Be healthier, look better
- Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? 28th birthday
- What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? I like to eat unhealthy things
- Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Because I'm fat
- What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Eat less, exercise
- Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Yes, ate less, exercised
- Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I did lose, and I haven't gained any back
- What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Too hard, too fast
- Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? I tried this, but didn't help me personally
- Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Yes, a lot of southern food (meats, potatoes, corn etc.)
- How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Rarely. Depends
- What are your three favorite foods? Pizza, Fried Catfish, Biscuits
- What are your three favorite restaurants? Colton's, Ron's, Ta Molly's
- What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Eat less, eat higher quality, drink less soda
- If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? I think the increase in mood and self image would be the biggest difference.
- Do you eat when you are not hungry? Yes
- Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? Yes
- Do you hide your food or eat in secret? No
- Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? No, strangely I'm the opposite of an emotional eater. If I'm upset it takes away my appetite.
- Do you eat as a reward? No
- Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yes
- What do you normally eat for a meal? Hmm, well, for lunch was a pork chop, baked potatoes with green peppers/onions, maccaroni/cheese, a biscuit and water to drink.
- What type of snacks do you eat? I don't really snack. That's a part of my issue, it's all or nothing.
- In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? I've been slacking for the last month or so. To achieve my initial weight loss I did mostly cardio with a tiny bit of weight training and situps. In this upcoming phase, I will resume cardio, 5 days a week/40 minutes a day. Weight training (mostly upper body) 3 days a week, alternating 3 sets 70% orm/12 reps and 85% orm/8 reps every two weeks. And then ab training 3 days a week.
- Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? I have all the equipment at home. Park your excuses at the door, ey?
- What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Not sure if this is meant to mean specific exercises or what as there aren't that many types really. My favorite exercises are all weight training related - chest press, bicep curl and lat pulldown.
- What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? Simply knowing that I am not yet the best version of myself, but with a little work I can get there.
- Do you have rewards for certain goals? Getting there will be reward enough.
Sounds horrid! But then again, I don't eat fish. So I probably have no idea what I'm talking about! You obviously know what you're doing as you've already lost a butt-ton of weight so just stopping by to say congrats and good luck for the rest of your journey!
