Amy's weight loss diary

Amazing on the .5KG loss. And your lunch looked delicious.
Also, you're eating around the number of calories I eat daily. I wonder how that will work for you. On work out days, maybe you'll need to eat more.

Water totally helps fill you up.
How many large bottles of water, like the litre ones did you drink? I drink about 8 500ml bottles a day.

I'll see how it goes. I think yesterday I took things to extremes because I was really worried about how well I could stick to the ~150 calorie cut and because I was a bit disappointed that I lost less than a kilo. (Although 5kg is a milestone, I think) I've always had a really large appetite- for a little while before I joined this site I toyed with the idea of trying a raw food diet because I'm a pig and I figured that was the only way I could lose weight without being miserable. I figured out it'd be too much work, quite risky, and I have enough problems with iron intake as it is without cutting meat (I take a supplement, and I'm still wondering if I should go to the doctor and get my iron tested, as I'm feeling some symptoms that might be explained by iron deficiency. I've been tested a few times but not for several years, and every test I've had has got me coming back as borderline anaemic). I actually continually surprise myself with the fact that I'm able to eat in a way that causes me to lose weight, but I think most of this is pretty sustainable long term (I suspect I'll ease up when I've lost the weight, mostly stick to the habits I've learned, watch my weight, and if it goes up a couple of kilos, get back to calorie counting properly, and not let it get out of control).

I drank tap water- well, I don't drink directly from the tap because the water around here is disgustingly overchlorinated (I have some old bottles which I fill up with water and leave to sit, the chlorine seems to evaporate from them). Yesterday I drank about 2.5litres, so 5 500ml bottles (including the water in my tea at 80% as it's got caffeine in it). It's a habit I've got to get myself into, and that was actually the hard thing about yesterday, drinking all that water. Just not used to it.

This is what cauliflower looks like when it gets shoved through the food processor (I'm attempting to make cauliflower rice, although this came out more the consistency of couscous). That's a whole head, or about 600g worth. I'll see what I can do with it and hope it isn't too :puke: . Might end up being a little too expensive for me to maintain (2 quid for a head of cauliflower, rice is much cheaper), but it's worth the experiment.

mm, chicken would be nice on top of that. With some sort of cream sauce--Would be higher cals but creamy sauce would go nice with it!

haha, that sort of defeats the purpose :)

I just had some (I'm a bit hungry this evening) with my lemon chicken on top of it. 69g (I want 80g serves, but this was the leftovers, I've bagged the rest up). 17 calories! (as compared to 50g of rice being 177.5)

On the bad side, this leaves me having eaten dinner and still being under 1000 calories for the day.

It's actually not too bad. Not as substantial as rice (but I have a feeling I overprocessed it, the bits aren't as big as rice), but nowhere near as digusting as I expected it to be. Maybe cauliflower isn't something to be avoided as it used to be in my diet. I'm pleased about this.

Whether I'll keep it up? Don't know. It's very expensive compared to rice, and I suspect I can probably afford the calories of rice. It's also not as filling as rice. I've always regarded rice as a bit of a waste because it's just a filler- it's tasteless to me.

Maybe you could have a bit of rice as well.. just to stodge it out a bit.
But yum, looks really good.
I'd never have thought to do that.

I made cauliflower rice before! I used it as rice for my stir fry. It was a good lower calorie substitute.
(I've made "mashed potato" cauliflower too)

I was really surprised at how good it was. I thought I hated cauliflower (but figured it was worth a shot). I think I'll take Carrie's suggestion and mix it up with some rice- it's very low calorie (although there were recipes combining it with butter! Nooooooo *sound of someone falling off tall building* :eek2: - I just chucked it through the food processor and stuck it in the microwave) but not filling enough, I don't think. Would also make it cheaper.

Made a hell of a mess making it though. I didn't realise (I've never cooked it for myself before) just how crumbly cauliflower is.

Yehhh it's SO CRUMBLEY.
You'll waste away on us if you just eat cauliflower rice for dinner. <3

Carrie, the idea was to have stuff like cauliflower rice so I could "spend" the calories on other things that I enjoy more. :biggrinjester: Like fruit, or carrots, or my ice cream, or... chocolate :D

Just saw this and am blown away by it. Pictures of people at your height and weight. I just looked up mine and... they look so gorgeous! And my height at goal weight... wow. There's motivation for you.

I found it on the forum- reckon it's still worth starting another thread over?

Also, this is why I bother with things like cauliflower rice. Epic dessert.

115g apple, 98g plum, 101g strawberries, 80g blueberries, 165g Greek yoghurt, a sprinkling (under a gram) of cinnamon. 293 calories :D

mmm, that looks lovely! What thread was it in? Maybe just leave it then--Didn't realise it was already on here. Bloody awesome site though. Maybe just quote it in the original thread to get some more interest in the link.

Thanks :)

Urgh, PMS. Really bad PMS like I usually get when I'm unfit/ quite overweight. Don't understand it, hate it, want to crawl up under a blanket and eat shit food. Have work to do, not happy.

Oh, by the way, I did go to the gym yesterday, and did my upper body workout. Did 3x12 of everything and used 4kg weights where applicable, pushed quite hard. Managed to do pushups with minimal wrist pain, hanging on to dumbells and in the "girl" pushup pose (with my knees on the ground. Figure doing that is better than not being able to do the full set, will work up to proper pushups.

And I have upper body DOMS today. Yay! :D (I think... also ow, along with my PMS)
