AMPing It Up

So I've decided to make a log to record my new journey into weight lifting. But the background first.
Around this time last year I had some body image problems and during cross country season I went from around 135 to about 115 lbs. I hit 115 and just freaked out because thats a ridiculously low and unhealthy weight for someone my height (5'7). For the next few months I was in limbo as to what I should do. Without lifting I got up to about 122. Then I found this website, and realized I should start lifting around may. I have been doing fbw since then and am about 128, 129 right now. For the past few months I was trying to decide if I should go on a bulk.
So now you meet Amp now. 18 yrs old, 129lbs, 5 foot 7. A freshman at college looking to fit in, succeed academically, and transform physically. My bulk has officially begun.

Amp has removed the Clamp and now has provided the Fitness Amp Stamp and will shine brighter than a Street-Lamp!

GO AMP! Revamp the AMP!
+rep.....For starting it.

Best of LUCK!.......

Best Wishes,

Chillen

ROCK ON!:)

Here is some more information about my current life. My diet right now varies a lot everyday, as I can only really eat what the food court serves. I do have oatmeal, tunafish, whey, and beef jerky. These can make 1 meal a day, but I have to buy foods at the food courts. I tend to get grilled chicken sandwiches, sometimes grilled fish, and there is actually a stirfry station where I can get brown rice.

As I said I lift three times a week, but I am going to try out a tae kwon do at my school, which is mondays and wednesdays, so I will lift tu, th, sat/sun.
The only problem I see in my bulking process is that I unavoidably have to walk at least 3 miles a day to and from class, but I guess I will just have to eat more to compensate for it.

On a side note, I just got back from this place called skyzone, which is a complex with tons of trampolines put together. I played dodgeball for about an hour bouncing all around the for an hour, and it was incredible. :yelrotflmao: check it out

The walking is fine AMP. And, you are correct, do modify "correctly" your diet to add in the walking. The walking will do you good! Glad you liked the dodge ball!

Keep ROCKEN the AMP. Yup! Sup! Keep AMPing it UP! And, Amp will see his goal real closeUP!

ROCK IT!

I had my 2nd lesson of tae kwon do today. Learned some basic kicks, did some stretching and some core work, and learned a new form. I felt pretty good afterward. The only problem was I felt a lot of hip pain when I was doing side kicks, which is probably caused by the same thing that makes my hips click when I walk. Lifting tomorrow, so I will update then, hopefully I can see a trainer as well so he can evaluate my lower back/hips

So I just got back from the gym. I was plannign on going a few hours earlier but I didnt feel well so I waited a little while until I felt better, but I'm still not 100%. Here was my routine:

Stretching
Warm up Squats- 15 w/ bar, 15 w/25
3x8 135lbs- at the bottom sometimes I felt a strange click in my knee (in addition to a click ive had in my lower back)
2x15 RDL 100lbs
4x5 bb bench 125
3x7 pullups- felt tension on the right side of the middle of my back
3x10 cable seated row 130lbs
Then a superset where I alternated between:
10 db curl into overhead press 25lbs per db
10 cable pushdown

My back is still clicking but the sports trainer wouldnt look at me because I'm not a varsity athlete so I will get it checked out at the medical center tomorrow.

So I worked out today, first time since thursday, which is annoying because I havent worked out twice in three days for about two weeks, hopefully I will be able to tuesday. Anyway here's how it went:

Stretching
Warmup Squats with bar
1x15 105 lbs
3x12 120 lbs
5x5 db bench press 90lbs
3x10 rows on some machine 100lbs + base of machine
circuit of military press, lat pulldown, calf raises

Last night I went out and had a few shots as well as a few beers, and did a lot of munching. I know its bad, but im in college, its unavoidable. Im doing my best to eat in such a way that this won't negate my workouts, r add unnecessary amounts of fat (eating under maintenance when im going to eat) My diet has been pretty crappy lately, and Im not sure why. Being far from home, and not being able to cook or make what I want when I want it is really tough. I think I've been doing some emotional eating, and I've done a good job but bad foods are always present (think free cakes, cookies, brownies everywhere you go.) A better update will come soon, I just felt like I had to write something.

I would like to impart some thoughts, but I want to ask you if you are willing to accept a post that may have a.......slight Dr. Phil attitude about it and with good intentions and coming from a friend? I will wait for your response.

I will be posting in here pretty soon AMP. I have been busy in the Chill log. I havent forgotten the brotha.

Just letting you know, my friend.

Im gonna.......Dr. Phil ya ass......LOL........ROCK ON!...............

Irrespective of Chillen's pearls of wisdom - I do mean that - I, too, was a college freshman once back in the day and am empathetic to your lifestyle. I don't think you want or need to be a modern-day martyr like Todd Marinovich (who never had cake as a kid) nor do you want to be a modern-day John "Bluto" Blutarsky (Animal House). I think, with Chillen's advice, you will make wise decisions, young freshman.

Just got back from tae kwon do. Today my diet was pretty well, except for when I got a care package right after a meal of pb and whey protein, with some really good granola in it which put me a little over the top. Anyway I ran on the elliptical for 10 minutes before tkd to get warmed up, and then had class for an hour and a half. I'm getting better, and my body is getting much more adjusted to the movements.
A weird thing happened last night though. Being in college the average school night ends at 1 and I wake up around 830. Last night I attempted to go to bed at 11 (mind you I did lift yesterday), and I couldn't fall asleep until 130. I'm not exactly sure why, as I usually fall asleep easily, especially on days when I workout. I'm thinking of buying some nyquil so that doesn't happen again. Tomorrow I lift again, and I just got a fresh shipment of oatmeal from my momma so I'm excited for that.

word.

Im not quite ready to post in your log---not just yet.....but I did post something in the chill log for you on: Self-Image.........

ROCK on BROTHA..........Im with ya........hand is still here.......

Just got back from the gym:

Deadlift warm up with trap bar(not sure of the weight)
12 x 40kg added
10x 50kg
10x50kg

1x10 105lbs bench
(had to stop because there was no one to stop me)

Dips x bw
12
10
9

Bent Over Rows
10x95lbs
10x95
10x95

Military Press
10x 35lbs each
10x35
7x35 my left arm couldnt make it and was struggling through each set

Superset
the chest machine that you sit upright on and then have the two bars to your side that you squeeze to the middle 1 hand a at time at 120lbs

Lat pulldown 110lbs

If anyone knows about that chest machine I was talking about, I really feel it in my abs when I'm only doing one arm at a time, not sure if its working my abs though.

On a side note, I couldn't fall asleep again last night and it's really bugging me. Bough some nyquil today so hopefully I can get a solid nights sleep. Hope everyone else is well.

So I am in the process of really cleaning my diet up. I have a drawer in my desk right next to where I do all my work and where my computer is, that was filled with candies and junky food. I took all of that junky food and put it next to my door so other kids on my floor can come into my room and eat and and get fat off of them instead of me. Now in my drawer I have green tea, roasted almonds, beef jerky, granola, and a bar of dark chocolate (i know that granola is not perfect, buts its not bad, and the dark chocolate I haven't opened yet but when I do it will just be small amounts of nibbling).

In other news I am extremely busy for the next few days with school work, as exams are about to begin, but I will make it to the gym. I think its mostly mental, but since I started my bulk a just feel stronger. I haven't seen results in the gym, but that sense of over all improvement is there, hopefully that converts into real physical gains. I have to miss tae kwon do today because I have lots of work and a bunch of meetings to go to, which is upsetting, but I'll be hitting the gym tomorrow.

Todays Workout:
Stretching
Squat warmup with 95lbs
3x10x145 (went up 10 lbs from last time, and felt good)

Bench:
10x135
10x135
8x135 (I didn't rest long enough between sets so I couldn't finish)

Pullups:
10xbw
7xbw (blah)

seated rows:
3x10x130 lbs

Superset:
calves, triceps, biceps

Today was full of highs and lows. When doing the squats I increased the weight 10lbs from last time and felt great. In the first two sets of benching I felt much better than I have on the bench in a long time, but messed up in the last set. Doing the pullups I felt a strain on the right side of my lower back so I stopped. Rows felt great, and everything else felt kind of normal.
I was able to have the super breakfast that I created myself a while ago, for the first time since I got to college which consists of: raw oats, chocolate whey, mashed up banana, and milk. It's very tasty I recommend it to anyone if you don't have any problems with raw oats.
In other news I am a pledge in the business fraternity alpha kappa psi right now, which I'm very excited about. Have a "wine and cheese" party tonight, but I'm going to do my best to not have any of said wine and cheese. Diets looking good. I made realized that eating crappy food just because it tastes good at the moment isnt worth ruining your long term goals. Because in a few hours its not going to matter if you had brussel sprouts or a slice of pizza (just an example) because the mental effects of the food will be gone by then. Granted, I will still eat tasty foods when I feel like it, but it's given me a stronger resolve to stay away from unnecessary snack foods.

Special Post:

I am so mad right now. Last night I got in bed at 12:30, knowing that i had to wake up at 8:45. I planned on getting a nice 8 hours of sleep. However, I didn't fall asleep fully until about 4. I'm not sure whats wrong with me, I've never had a problem falling asleep before, and it's scaring me a little bit. Last night after 2 hours I even took nyquil and still could not fall asleep. I really hope this passes....
