Amount of weights lifted has gone down? Help

Hello,

im currently on a cut diet and i am down to 2000 calories. I dont feel dead the whole day but im tired little.
When i lift for example the squat, before i used to do 5x5 working up to say 220 lbs. Now when i load the bar up to 205 its so hard for me to do 5 reps, i do it but it feels like its 220 lbs.

I have been thinking its because im on a calorie deficit and before on my bulk i was eating 3500 calories and i had more energy.

Is this supposed to happen during a cut? is it Energy loss?
I do 5x5 for the cut trying to keep as much muscle as possible but what will happen if i do less weight but i feel like it was a good workout but it isnt anywhere close to the weights i used on my bulk. Will i lose muscle?

Please help me out.
Thanks

Cutting will make you lose at least some lean body mass. Your numbers will suffer as a result. Not a big deal at this point unless you want to become a powerlifter or something similar.

how much below you're maintence are you?
im cutting now, been for 2-3 week and none of my lifts has suffered. but im only loosing like 1 pound a week.

if your finding it heavy drop to 3 sets of 5,you will not build any muscle anyway because your on a defecit so just do enouigh to maintane what you already have.

Thanks for the help.
So using the calculators here my maintenance is 2554 but on online calculators i am 2900(which I dont believe because i dont have that much muscle, i am 158 lbs 5ft 10 16 yrs old.)

Just want to lose a couple pounds, this morning i weight my self I was 154 to 155 some other mornings.
So if my maintenance is 2500 ish, I have a diet of 2000 calories ish. And if its 2900 then im dropping 900 a day and i should see like 2 lbs a week which I havent. So i think im dropping 500 a day.
Im using the mirror to see diferences and Now i can feel my top 6 pack, right under my chest. So i think im getting there, just a couple more pounds and then back to bulking.

About dropping sets to 3x5, that sounds good because I dont have much time to lift, only like 20 minutes and i pull off 5x5 of like 3-4 compound excercieses. 3x5 would be better. But: Wouldnt I lose more lean muscle if i did less sets?

Also if I have a medium carb diet, can i still lose fat?
Thanks

Your diet is the most important part, but honestly, I don't see why you're cutting if you're just going to go right back to bulking right away. Doesn't make sense to me...

Medium carb diet is ambiguous. Your carbs should be pretty low, and the carbs you do have should be good carbs obviously.

Cutting will not definitely make you lose lean body mass either, the point is supposed to be fat loss (and maintain the muscle, if not it would just be losing weight), and your "numbers" won't definitely suffer either, but it is likely that they will go down a little bit because of the deficit/difference in calories. I've been cutting for 3.5 weeks, have lost 15 pounds, and my lifts have gotten better...I don't think I've lost lean body mass either.

I am with AJP, I have been cutting for 7 weeks, lost 17 pounds, and not one single lift has suffered. Deadlift even went up 10 pounds. Pullups, dips, pushups have gotten easier with the shed weight.

I get plenty of protein in my diet, I eat a crapload of veggies, a little fruit, and keep complex carbs to a minimum. Oats for breakfast, and thats it. No rice, bread, potatoes, pasta...
