Alternate to Regular Squats...

Hello,
Couple weeks ago I kind of hurt my knees doing squats and every time I try to do it w/ heavy weights it hurts So i really dont want to do it until I can.

In the meantime I have been doing lunges but I think im getting used to them. I have bulg. squats in my mind which I will do but I need an excercise with a barbell so I can load it with Heavy weight.

I do DL's so no wories there. What else can I do?
 
no its not anything serious it happened to me before when I started doing squats. I beleive it happens when I do my squats kind of with bad form. I can run and all full speed becausei I have been doing that so no problem with my knees. I believe I have Jumpers knee or runners knee. My patella hurst when it gets tapped hard.
