Almost there

Hi, I'm a 20 year old student who has always been overweight, and have been dieting on and off for 2 years, started seriously about a year ago, with a couple months along the way. I hope to lose another 20-30lbs or so but have ran into a bit of a lull motivation wise so hoping to get enthusiastic again about getting rid of the remaining weight.

This is me when I was about 18, not exactly the prettiest site. I was around 270lbs here.

This is me as of 2 weeks ago, about 216lbs

Thanks for reading.

<---has also been overweight his entire life

You look great man. Keep it up. I know how hard it is to find the motivation some days. I have them about 2-3 times a week. I have been on my journey now for 9 months or so and I still have to force myself not to fall back into my old habits. Sometimes, I have to fight myself kicking and screaming all the way but then I look back at my start pictures. Suddenly I am reminded of where I don't want to be ever again.

That is my biggest motivator. I found a quote somewhere in off-topic and it's in my sig. No idea who the originator is but I use it as my mantra when things get hard.

If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.

When I hit my 100lb loss mark I am getting that inked across my shoulders. A reward for me.

I have found overall, the most rewarding things happen when I step outside my comfort zone.

Again, keep up the great work man.

Thanks guys!

Ryan, I basically just kept to 1800 calories a day, and ate more protein, there's also this stuff called royal gelatin which is just jello mix, 70cals per mix bag and you can get a massive bowl of jelly which although isn't the healthiest thing, it's great as a desert.

Theyellowpony, we're part of the same club, I have also told myself if I get to my goal weight I will get my first tattoo (nervous but so excited), I'm thinking a catfish on my back as it's my lucky animal. Great work on the weight loss as well btw, you look so much better now, great quote too.

Pro-tip: The first tat opens up a whole new addiction ;)

Mine won't be my first BUT will be my first with real meaning. A love of food + lack of motivation have been the bane of my existence for a long time. Also, I have always gone ALMOST there, and then just let it fizzle out. Never really reached my goals because mediocre was what I was used to. Now though.... now. Long term, I want to run a tough mudder. 9 months ago I could barely tie my shoes without feeling lightheaded, winded, dizzy, etc. Now, ESPECIALLY since I reached a big milestone this past weekend(running a 5k AND killing my goal time), my sights are set quite a bit higher!

Also, thanks. I feel so much better. Anyone who has taken, or is on this journey knows just what I mean when I say I feel better. Mentally, physically....just better.

Stick to it man. From one who struggled all my life to another, it's the best thing I have done...the most meaningful...the most fulfilling... in a VERY long time.
