Alligatorob's Diary

Yesterday was a good day, ate well, did my PT exercise and felt good.
Your a great granddad
Thanks Petal, but hopefully it will be a few more years before I become a great-grandfather, LOL! Don't feel old enough to be grandfather right now.
You are a really thoughtful grandpa, Rob. How did they go with their shopping?
Thanks Cate, the shopping went fine, my role is a kind of cat herding thing, and then paying of course! Keeping the kids on track can be a challenge, but we got it done.

Today was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and feel good tonight. I did struggle with urges, but managed not to binge.

Yesterday was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and felt good. One bit of good news I am now sure my shoulder is getting better, its not without pain but the pain is less and I can do more with it. The PT exercises have really helped.

Winter started for real yesterday, first snow deep enough for me to get the tractor out to plow, always a learning experience the first time, snow plowing isn't easy for a Florida/Louisiana boy, and the front end loader on my tractor is not the best snow plow, but it worked.
Good work Rob; some days are real tough.
Thanks LaMa, and I guess yesterday was better than the day before, but still a struggle.

Great to hear your shoulder is getting better! "Not the best snow plow" is probably better than no snow plow at all...

Thanks Rob, the staying away from "all-consuming obsessive thinking" is something I have been struggling with a bit lately. I find myself obsessing over what I am eating more so than I did when losing weight, and don't like the way it feels. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Great to see you doing so well!

Maybe you need something else to occupy your mind? Learn a new dance style, language, engineering gimmick, or whatever interests you. Being inside a lot due to the weather, working out less intensely due to shoulder issues, and being "done" with weightloss... Maybe you're bored, or at least understimulated.

Yesterday was not a bad day, however I did go 10 calories over my 1,700 cap. Late, after posting my food I had a cup of low cal (20) hot chocolate and about 35 calories of frozen fruit, not terrible, but it is the first time and you won't see it on the diary. Oh well, not a terrible thing I guess, so long as it doesn't get worse. My exercise was limited to PT, but I got some and I feel pretty good.

Absolutely! I have about 200 meters of drive to plow and none is flat, part is pretty steep, so a shovel is out of the question.

You are probably right about that, and I believe I am probably a compulsive overeater with my food addition currently in remission, but not cured. I don't think it ever will be "cured", I think it is just a part of who I am and something I need to find a way to live with. I still like your Big Black Dog analogy, mine has been wakening and barking a little lately. And I know you are right I need something new to do, have been thinking about doing some ice fishing, not something I have really done before but I love to fish. And for me on the dancing it would have to be learning a first style, any dancing would be pretty new to me, LOL.

I´m a terrible dancer but learning new styles or new routines is one of the best things you can do to keep your brain flexible. Plus it´s a no-calorie way of feeding that dog :)

Learning to dance might be great fun, Rob. Ice fishing sounds like it might be right down your alley, but a solitary thing. Is there a local men's shed?

Today was a good day, but did nothing I can call exercise. I did eat well, and I feel good now. It was a very busy day, did a lot of errands, spent a couple of hours plowing snow, and then finished the Christmas shopping and wrapped a bunch of presents. I did have an unpleasant surprise, discovered the cookie things I have been calling aussie bites have a lot more calories than I thought. So I may have underestimated calories the past few days, probably by no more than 100 on any day, but not a good thing. Guess I will be giving them up. Not a tragedy, I am sure I've misestimated calories before, without discovering it... Back on track now.

Did not know that, I may consider it, but starting to dance at my age seems intimidating, but at one point so did dieting and exercising.

It will be fun, don't know anyone locally who does it, but I have seen people out on the lakes, maybe I can meet a few.

Nothing wrong with trying something new and abandoning it after the third time to try something else. Shame about the cookies but at least you found out why they´re so more-ish :p

It was a good day, ate well, exercised (PT only) and I feel good tonight. Made some progress on the ice fishing front, I was trying to find a guide who would take me out for a few hours and show me how it was done. Called a guy recommended to me and he said he was no guide but was looking for someone to go ice fishing with him, even better for me, now I have the chance to meet someone who knows what they are doing and won't have to pay a guide! Hope it works out.

Well y'all have me thinking about dancing, but I'm not ready quite yet. I assume it is something that could be done using a video or online somehow, don't see in person dance lessons happening now. Yeah, kind of disappointed in the cookies, but I've moved on.

Yay for ice fishing company! Learning to dance from a video is fine if your motivation is the same either way. Could be a fun thing to do together with your wife.

That's fantastic Rob. Ask and you shall receive.

The winter solstice was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good tonight! And for those of us in the north our days will start getting a little longer!
Thanks Cate, LaMa, and Emily we'll see how the fishing buddy works out, I am optimistic. Less optimistic about the dance thing, but I am still thinking about it.

Rob sorry I have not been catching up quick enough on your diary . Glad you seem a bit better . I do a lot of fun videos on you tube . Not so much dance ones but there are lots there . I recently did the steel city walks ( Leslie sansone ) they are only about 18 mins but they do cheer me up if I can't get out .
Salsa is a good dance to start with too and can be done alone .

It was a good day, ate well, exercised and feel good tonight! Now if the weather would just improve...
The mornings are still getting shorter here but it's almost done...
Looked it up, today had 4 seconds more daylight than yesterday, in Vienna. Its a start!

Hey Petal, yes I doing a bit better. Salsa sounds interesting, never imagined myself doing it, but maybe I will look into it.

Afternoons are getting longer, mornings shorter right now. But you're right: I should focus on the positive :)
Want to do a salsa challenge until year's end? 10 minutes a day, regardless of skill or intensity?
