Alligatorob's Diary

Hope the surgery went well Rob...I was thinking of you today :)

You're probably not feeling very chipper, but soon you will. Be kind & gentle with yourself, Rob & let yourself heal :grouphug:

Just got home, and the doctor says I ain't dead yet, and he doesn't expect I will be in the near future. Guess the outcome was as good as possible, so far...

Did not keep close track of what I ate but it was hospital food so I did not eat a whole lot. Pretty sure I am ok on calories. No exercise though, LOL!

Tired now, will try to catch up tomorrow.

good to hear things turned out ok. up until i had my hip surgery 4-5 years ago, i still had all my original parts (tonsils, appendix) so i had never been in the hospital either aside from ER visits. so far all my experiences went well, though i've not been near a medical office yet this year.

Glad it went well Rob! Must be nice to have that done with. Hope you can enjoy the recovery time just taking things really easy.

Today went as well as it could have, no exercise but I did eat ok and am feeling a bit better tonight. Tomorrow I may try a short walk.
Welcome back Rob!
Thanks Err, it is good to be back.

This is my first real medical experience, and my first part removal, other than a toe in the lawnmower when I was a teen. Surgery is no fun, but I know many people have it worse than I do. My great grandfather saw a doctor for the first time at the age of 102, just before he died. He fell out of a tree, family story is he'd been drinking. Guess I had imagined I might go that way too, but fate was not to have it.
Hopefully you get a good rest tonight.
Thanks Lingwo, I plan to try. Sleeping is still not as easy as I'd like.
Welcome home Rob hope you are ok today . Take time to recover
Thanks Petal, I am going to give it some time. I don't want to undo anything that got done.

It is good, every day afterwards should get better.
Delighted it all went great.
Thanks Emily, not sure I'd use the word "great", but it sure could have been worse.

:p I see you're matching your protein powder to the end of the peach season. Looks like a solid food day, although you may not have to go quite that low.

Wow, your great-grandfather certainly chose an interesting way to go, haha!

Well, even if it was only 'good', you're here and posting, and that's certainly something to be happy about.

It was a better day, I ate well and got in a little (very little) exercise. I am feeling better. Went for a very slow walk around the house, posted some pictures on the What I saw on my walk thread. I walked about a mile (1.7 km) in 45 minutes, probably about right for my first outing.

Just coincidence. Not exercising I don't feel the need to eat so much protein, but I kind of like some of it, so have not stopped. Still have a few peaches in the refrigerator, I am eating them slowly, it will be a sad day when they are gone. For now I think I will target something around 1,500 calories/day.
Glad you are continuing to feel better
Thanks Liza, and I am. I am more worried that I will feel too good and try to exercise more than I should. Will keep an eye on that.

Thanks Emily, yeah my great grandfather makes a good story. The only part I sure is true is that he did live to 102, the rest might be... So far as I know it is.

As long as you keep listening to your body's signals and build up slowly (going back to the previous level if an increase does make you feel weird) I think you'll be fine.
