Alligatorob's Diary

If you notice you're getting more tired you either need more rest or more calories. I'm sure you know what I'd vote for :p

I ate well today, but did not exercise. I am still feeling a bit worn down so I took a day off.

I do, but right now resting is more comfortable for me than adding many calories. Though I did almost get 1,400 today. I am probably eating more than the calorie difference shows, for a long time I was careful to not under count calories and in the process I know I often over counted. I started doing more weighing and measuring and discovered that I was eating fewer calories than I had been estimating. I don't think I am doing that anymore.
Me too, but I felt it would “land on deaf ears”
No, not deaf ears, I always listen to you, and LaMa, and others. That is part of why my calorie count is up a bit, and eating probably a bit more than that. But to be honest I do fear getting out of the calorie defic

I think it's normal to be nervous about changing something that's been working so well. Especially when it's the first strategy that's ever really worked. But you're stronger than you think and you will adapt. 1400 kcal/day counting properly is already a lot better than 1200 while overestimating.

Glad you took a day to rest. I'm surprised when people do the gym every day--I always thought one was suppose to have a rest day after a workout day, but I know little about it. I'm glad for the days off from running and notice the recovery time really helps.

It depends on what you're doing. If you exercise different muscle groups on different days some can rest while you work on others.

Down 2 lbs, I am surprised. Monday and Tuesday I was just down about 1, but this morning I am down 3, so I'll call it 2. That puts me at 170, an even 150 lbs to date. I am pretty happy about it.

You have very good reason to be chuffed about losing 150 lbs. I understand your fear of increasing your calories and/or reducing your deficit. I’m sorry I sounded rude. It’s not like me. You will be fine. You’re smart enough to be able to find a healthy balance. Trust yourself.

I’m sorry I sounded rude.
You did not, not at all. One thing I like about you and this place is the honest advice and opinions, please don't stop! Nothing rude about honesty, nothing helpful about sugar coated.

By the way "chuffed" is a word y'all have added to my lexicon, it is a good one, however when I first looked up it's etymology I found "from dialectal (northern England) chuff, originally meaning “puffed with fat”." But that isn't the way folks here mean it. Maybe similar to our "fat and happy" expression. Anyway yes, I am chuffed about it, chuffed in the sense folks here seem to mean anyway.

I’m glad you didn’t think I was rude, but I must admit when I re-read it later I felt bad. I try to be polite & helpful, but sometimes I feel that It does not appear that way.
I think the word chuffed is usually just meant as really pleased.

Well, Rob, you have 1 or 2 lbs to go before you surpass - bypass? my weight which is currently at 168 or 169. Btw, I have a friend who has gone from 215 lbs to under 160 just this year. I haven't seen him in a while, I'm interested to see how he looks.

Btw, you look absolutely buff in that gym photo.

It was a good day, ate well, exercised and I feel good tonight. Did an hour and 45 minutes in the gym, but did not go to exhaustion, probably for the best. Ate the first eggplant from the garden today, it was good. Already had some squash and we have been getting tomatoes for a while. Lettuce did well, but its past, and we got some broccoli, but it did not do so well this year.

Thanks LaMa, you are right the uncertainty of change is worrying me a bit. I appreciate your confidence.

Cate, I have never seen you say anything I thought rude. That should not be one of your worries.

Thanks Jack, hard for me to imagine catching up with you, I would have never thought it possible. And thanks for the kind words, but I can assure you I am not now, and never will be "buff", maybe a little buffer than I used to be, but the Chippendales will not likely be calling.
Closer and closer to a healthy bmi
Yes, and that feels good, even though we all seem to agree that BMI doesn't mean a lot, LOL!
You look great in the gym photo Rob!
Thanks Emily, that feels good coming from a young woman, I particularly appreciate you not adding "for and old guy", which I am sure you were thinking. The hobo dinners are fun and can be very healthy.

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and am feeling good tonight. It was too hot to walk so I did my makeshift workout, an hour and 45 minutes. It is actually more work than the weight lifting, no rests, I just rotate exercises.
:D And how would you react if they would?
I'd help them find the person they were really looking for!
Your garden sounds great Rob! What a pleasure always to get good fresh food :)
It really is, something very satisfying about eating your own home grown. Second best is getting things from the neighbors, we bought some plums from an neighbor today, and have found a couple of feral apricot trees growing along the irrigation canal we are picking from.

Good man. Alhough I´ve been to one of their shows once (in my late teens, free tickets), and it was immensely cringy so I personally wouldn´t be upset if they disappeared.
