Alligatorob's Diary

Well done on your loss and continued reappraisal of your calorie intake goals! I really empathize with your feelings that as you add calories or go up out of a range that you feel mentally comfortable with, you feel that urge to binge creeping up on you. Let us know how you get on with dry July! I myself will probably remain here in the "it's ok if it fits in your calorie allotment and its contributing to your overall happiness" camp :)

I love how you always have a history lesson with your posts. Pretty cool

You are doing amazing!!!! Congrats on the 25 pound loss - so great!

I try to eat healthy fats when I get bad cravings - even if I go over calories for the day I don't go overboard (my weakness is constant snacking when I get cravings) if I remember do that. I eat nuts, avocado, creamy sauces or dressings with veggies, half and half in my hot drinks, cheese, eggs, etc. It's way better sustained energy than simple carbs which quickly turn to sugar in your body and then make you crave more of them when you crash. Maybe try a nice creamy treat instead of the alcohol and see if you like that as a substitute?

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good. This is the most calories I have eaten without alcohol in a while, probably since I started the diet. Its still below my target, but I am working up slowly, in a way that's comfortable.

In 1400 the House of Medici becomes powerful in Florence. The Medici were a powerful Italian banking family who produced 4 popes. They remained powerful for over 300 years.

I am starting to fit into clothes that were too small a couple of months ago, it feels good. Not that I've gotten small or anything, dropping from a 5 XL to a 4 XL for a guy who should be a M or L is a start, but no where near the end. Kind of feel like a snake shedding the first skin, lots more to come.

I am not sure what to do with my big clothes, this isn't my first time at this rodeo. In the past I happily gave my old big clothes away, but then when I regained the weight I had to replace them. Not getting rid of them seems like planning to fail

EXCELLENT work Rob! I’m really pleased to see this. You’ve been working very hard and it’s great to see actual results!

I didn’t keep any of mine (except a hoodie which I use as a dressing gown now). In the past I’ve hoarded stuff that might come in handy one day only to find it never ever does.

1 vote for donate it all away. I volunteer in an op shop once a week and we are always in need of mens clothes; especially larger sizes. Men are the same world over. We wear stuff until it disintegrates so very little ever gets donated. You’d be riding your house of the negative AND helping someone in need.

A pair of shorts too far........

Well I was feeling good about going down in sizes, but this morning tried to put on an old favorite pair of shorts I outgrew long ago. Got a reminder that I am still just getting started, had to put them away for the time.

Thanks for your kind words TM. I was looking at all my 5 XL shirts this morning and I think you, and others, are right, they will soon become donations.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good. I am beginning to notice a little more mobility, not a lot but enough I can tell a difference. That feels good.

7 year old grandson seems to have deleted the rest of my spreadsheet before I could post. I had 2 cutie oranges and 1/2 a lite beer

I know that before deleting the total calories were 1415.

In 1415 Jan Hus of Prague was burnt at the stake by Catholic Church, as a result his followers revolted and for about 5 years were able to fight on the Pope and remain Protestants, but then were taken over by the Hapsburgs who forced all to convert to the Church. It is hard to understand such behavior today, for me either why the Church would kill people that way, or why he would not recant. I suppose faced with being burned at the state I would accept most any religion…… I guess we are luck to live in better times.

At the time many people really believed that getting religion wrong would mean an eternity in hell. What's half an hour of burning at the stake against that? We ARE very lucky to not have to deal with that.

It was a good day, I ate right and feel good. I did have to fight off a craving in the afternoon, I think it was set off by the small package of fritos I ate, guess I ought to give that up. Our high today was 68 F compared to a normal of 93 F, we even got a little rain. Global warming seems to be passing us by this "summer".

I am heading out of town for a couple of days tomorrow. I will do my best to keep track and stay on diet, but may be slow in posting. I will probably do my "official" weigh in tomorrow am, a day early.

Yum, first cherry tomatoes of the season - I am jealous. Our garden is in a fog bank in the summer and we can't grow tomatoes or peppers. Your dinner looks scrumptious, and looks like you had a really good eating day! I have trouble if I eat things like Fritos - they are like potato chips as far as high carb, high fat snacks, and that combo is addicting according to some keto books I have read.

It was a good day for a travel day, not a lot of great food options but I did the best I could. Some of the calories are a kind of guess, but probably not too far off. I'm happy.

Tomorrow will be similar, I will try my best.
