Alligatorob's Diary

Really only scooting in as I had a longer sleep than normal but was dying to see what your loss was , 4 lb is amazing . And 65lb over all is massive. Congratulations Rob . You really must need some new clothes now. For a woman that would be 6 dress sizes approximately.

You are so inspirational Rob .

yes. :iagree: You’ve no idea how inspirational you are Rob.

Thanks all, I have a hard time imaging myself as inspirational to anyone. With your help I have done well so far, but I have so far to go, my ride today reminded me of that.

I did the 40 laps, but they were not easy. I had to tough out the last 5 or 6, they were particularly hard. No lagniappe today. This is the first time I have done the 40 on two consecutive day, maybe that was the problem. I felt pretty good up to about 25, then it started getting hard. My right leg, probably the one I use most on the uphill parts, was starting to feel cramped towards the end. I walked around for a bit afterwards and I think the leg is fine.

Before that leg event I was thinking about how the riding is making my legs feel. I am beginning to see (or feel anyway) a bit of muscle development. It feels good to know that somewhere deep down I do still have a few of my youthful muscles left.

It was below freezing, but not quite so cold as yesterday. The 10 day forecast looks better, a return to more normal Utah fall weather I hope. A new record low at Peter Sinks, -46.1 F (-43.4 C). That will probably have to stand as the new US record low for October, tomorrow is November and even the sinks should warm up a little. Glad I don't live there!

Late, but adding my "likes" for how inspirational you are! Also - great that you're seeing/feeling the muscles emerge again!

...tomorrow is November and even the sinks should warm up a little.
Why will the sinks warm up in November? Shouldn't they be getting colder as you head into winter?

Amy, we just went through a really cold record breaking few days. Temperatures were more like December or January than October, so getting back to normal will be warming up.

It was a good day. I ate well and got to exercise. My leg seems fine.

I think I have had 1,065 come up a couple of times before, could not find anything interesting historical that I haven't done before, so resorting to Angel Number:

1065 is an angel that signifies that a change is about to take place, but something is holding it back (hindrance). The hindrance is the fear of change. If you are the type that fears a lot, it will be hindering some things that are going to make a good impact in your life.

or on another website:

The feeling Olga gets from Angel Number 1065 is giddy, yearning, and resignation... The purpose of Angel Number 1065 is summarized in these words: Encourage, Hide, and Select.

Not a lot of consistency. Maybe I'll work on the giddy thing.

Great day Rob . I myself did not enjoy the seaweed .
Do a few leg stretches maybe after your bike ride might help.

Hey Rob,

if your legs are cramping it might be worthwhile Checking your bike fit. Your saddle height might be too low.

if you sit on your saddle your leg should be just about straight at the bottom of the pedal stroke; most people have the seat too low so that they can sit on the saddle while touching the ground. This causes a huge loss in efficiency.

I did my 40 laps, it was hard, but better than yesterday, no leg craps. I think 40 will be my target workout for a while now. TM, I did check my seat height, and you were right it probably was a little low, that may have been the difference. Petal, you are probably right about the stretches, but today I was tired, just wanted to sit down.

Warming up a little, it was a bit above freezing, sunny and not too much wind. A pretty good day for it.

Hope the seat adjustment helps with your legs, Rob. Isn't it great having resident experts? I mean that, by the way. We are a diverse & rich group.

Nice you're keeping it up while you can, Rob! I think I would have difficulty adjusting to the cold temperature. That's a big adjustment for the body especially while you're in a calorie deficit and if you're keeping the distance the same. I suspect it'll feel like usual again soon if the temp stays the same.

I think when you start training consistently, you always have those days where you feel off. And sometimes there is no real reason for it. Keep going though, you are making serious progress.
:iagree: You’ll have off days and great days.
It’s during recovery time that we actually get stronger not work outs so give yourself plenty of time to recover.

Thanks all, I appreciate the input. I have been thinking about off days but kind of assumed it would solve itself in bad weather days. I did take Tuesday off for weather. However right now our 10 day forecast is pretty nice, so I may have to choose some rest days. Next week I have a business trip to California for a couple of days, forced days off.

Æthelred II the Unready became King of England for the second time in 1014. Apparently Æthelred in old English meant noble (æðele) counsel (ræd), The Unready part is translated from the old English word Unræd, but there is some question, the Anglo-Saxon noun unræd means evil counsel, and there are other possible interpretations. But apparently Æthelred didn't pickup the nickname until about 150 years after he died, so it probably doesn't mean much, maybe just a play on words.

Noble Counsel the evil counsel would be a pretty great name and exactly what people would call someone powerful out of earshot/after death if they didn't like him.
There's always the possibility of doing less some days, like you did the day before your lake ride. Or go for a walk instead if your legs are up to it.

Really happy to see you are eating more protein Rob .
