All or nothing.

So I once was fit, well fitter than I am currently. I could play field hockey for eintire days and feel slightly tired. Now I can barely get up the three flights of stairs to my dorm with out being winded. This depressing fact has lead my gf to give me an ultimatum, lose weight or she won't come to my graduation or see me until I have lost at least 20lbs. Nothing has motivated me thus far and I hope that with her support and the insight of this forum I can lose the weight.

Today is the first day of my weight loss journey and it seemed appropriate to have this date be my first journal entry. So today I have begun to take note of what I put into my body and change my diet accordingly so that I can begin to lose without having to drastically change my diet. I my have an underlying food addiction as well, so small steps are important.

Today I had
1 muffin
Salad and half a turkey sandwich
fruit

So far this has been the healthiest I have ever eaten in one day. I have still eaten things I like but watched my portions.

For exercise I have done a small workout
jumping jacks
sit ups
push ups
light weight work
and a few burpees which have kicked my ass

For those who came here with weight issues, what exercises did you start with? Should I continue a simple beginning or add some larger challenges?

I know how to work out when I am fit, but I have no clue where to start when I am overweight.

I would also like to ask if anyone had a food addiction before coming here and what is a good way to battle it?

I am hoping this is a good start and if it's not, then it will be. Because its time to give me all or I will be left with nothing.

Thanks for reading.

Began a small "Prison workout" which is good for the day I can't really get to the gym. Which leaves me out of the "I can't get to the gym, looks like no workout" excuse. I also joined a daily diary thing and I hope to keep following it for at least one year, hopefully more.

Welcome to the diary section :)

It looks like you didn't eat enough yesterday, eating too little will cause the body to hold on to as much fat as it can.

well done doing a small workout :)

start of with small changes, by changing to much to quickly it is easy cause more stress than is needed leading to throwing it all in as too hard.

Slow steady diet changes and moderate exercise will get you to your goal :)

Today I workout in the morning which felt pretty good. took me a while to get it in gear but it went smoothly. Then in the afternoon I longboarded for a bit, however, I need to find a safer place as my lack of skill can be quite dangerous around campus. Eating well has become easier since I created and online food journal. I'm thinking friday is going to be a day of indulgence. maybe go up to 2000 ish calories instead of my 1500or so a day. :D

To anyone who reads this,
What are your indulgence days like?
Do you have your rest day on the same day?

it's been a busy past couple of days. Trying to get my friend's charity all set for the local icefest. I am the Public relations gal so i had a lot to do. Last night we walked around town for four hours getting donations for the homeless shelter and tonight will be the same. Tomorrow I'll be wlking more like 6 to 8 hours so I am getting some good exercise at least. But other than that I have been eating well and doing my best to exercise as much as possible.

Welcome!

you seem to be very motivated- good on ya!! :)

It's hard starting out...sometimes if feels like you just don't know where to begin! But you're doing great!

Remember that you do want to eat! I find it hard to eat, and so I have to make an effort to get several small meals in throughout the day - of course being conscious of what I eat too!

Also, if you're looking to lose weight by exercising, perhaps try to get both cardio and strengthening exercises done 3 times a week! that should help!

Good luck and congrats on making this step :) :)

I have been horribly sick these past few days causing me to eat nothing then over eat unhealthy foods when I feel better to feel full. I have barely managed to get up and out of bed and for lack of a better descriptor, I feel like shit. From the sickness and my lack of control during this horrid affliction. My question to the forum:

What do you do wen you are sick and trying to lose weight?

I need some positive ideas to get me back on track. I'm hoping to hit the gym tonight regardless of this sickness.
