Hi Everyone

In order to assist my weight loss program I intend to try and keep a journal of my goings on !

I welcome ALL comments good, bad, or anthing else.

I am dreadful at eating disipline and find being at work the with food easily available and staying in hotels with room service too easy.

I intend to try and use the fitness facilities at the hotels I stay at and keep away from first class meals and the dreaded Hagen Daz!!

Hi, Ginnser, and welcome to WLF.

You'll find lots of great knowledge and support here.

You've got a real challenge ahead of you, but with some support, you can do it.

How many days a week do you fly?

Hello TomO

Thanks for your encouragement.

I tend to go to work and am away for 3 nights. I start in Hong Kong tomorrow and have one flight to Shanghai, then off to hotel, then next day back down to Hong Kong and then up to Chengdu, then off to hotel and then either back home or another night up to Beijing.

I find the days away more difficult with food.

Sometimes I might just have a Hong Kong to Phuket and back home to Hong Kong, they are not too back because you are coming home.

I really lack control and I eat for the sake of eating, not because I am hungry. I know when I am eating that I dont need to eat because I am not actually hungry, but I eat anyway.

I intend to really try and eat tomorrow at some sort of structure meal times despite being on the aircraft and try not to eat after 8pm in the hotel.

Problem is I just dont have any form of plan, I am just winging it day by day, hence I always say.. I will start tomorrow!

With my job my weight worries me and I dread my annual medical checks, especially frightened of developing diabetes which would mean the end of my career. I also hate when I sit in a seat and realise how fat I am.

Welcome to the forum. You definitely will be able to find some good info here.

Have you thought about the times that you reach for food when you are not hungry? Is it out of boredom? When do they occur? Could you replace your food with something else. a squishy ball or chewing gum if on the plane?

Thanks for reply folks.

Photocrazed, I just tend to eat not stop, I could quite easily drink more water instead of eating. We are supplied with a neverending supply of bottled water, but I always land and sometimes the botte has not even been opened.

Had porriage for breakfast with some honey, sultanas and pumpkin seeds.

now trying hard not to snack until lunchtime.

I go to work at 4pm, flying to Shanghai, a 3 hours flight. so intend to have a meal around 5pm and then nothing until next morning.

What eating plan would anyone suggest

A plan that works, is always the best option. Maybe instead of 3 meals, is it possible to split your calories up into 3 meals and 2 snacks this way you get breakfast and you get a small snack before lunch and you won't feel deprived?

I am ignorant in the options an Airline pilot has available while performing his job, so if this isn't an option--sorry! :D

Definitely add some fruits and veggies to your meals, and get some good filling fiber and protein in each meal.

As someone who can attest to the fact that airline food is not the healthiest food you're gonna find, nor is food found in the airports - the hotels you stay at probably offer the contintental breakfast in the moring - stick an apple or two in your pocket for a snack later in the day.. Keep portion control snacks in your bag - like almonds, or whole grain crackers, or evens string cheese (there are kinds that dont need refridgeration) for quick energy snacks.

When the flight attendent asks - coffee, tea or me? don't respond with whatever is easiest - cuz we know it's the flight attendent :) but go for water rather than the caffeinated beverages :)

welcome to your diary -
