*AIM's Progress Pics*

OK, I'll admit I've been slacking...I made a little progress, but not enough since I've started. I decided I have to commit more to get this flat stomach I'm aiming for. Anyway, I hope to post my progress pics in about a month from now. Thanx for all the advice.

Did you get my PM?

Look forward to them. By the way, what program and diet did you decide to do?

Aiming,

I'm gonna have my 17yo son (6'1, 205#) start reading your thread. I hope he gets motivation from your motivation. Then, if he does, hopefully that will re-motivate you. Positive reinforcement for all!

Yea Chillen, I got your PM, how can I not look forward to them? :)
Well, My diet and program, its not too strict. Basically the diet is:
Nothing fried, no obvious junk food, eat every 2-3 hours, eat healthy(I spotted LV's grocery list, so basically a lot of the things I eat will be from that), other than that with the diet, there's nothing more to it. Exercise is like this:
30 minutes of biking in the morning before breakfast(not leisure biking), whole body weight training every other day(will have 2 consecutive days off about every 2 weeks), and 30 more minutes of any cardio later(bike, running, etc.)

Thanx g8r80, its nice to know I can motivate someone else :)

Question: I read that when trying to lose weight, protein supplements are not necessary. So basically, get all the protein you can from food sources, no shakes or anything. It makes sense to me. I understand you need protein to preserve muscle while losing weight. So, what is your opinion on this? Thanx

There is nothing wrong with a whey protein supplement. Personally, I prefer getting my protein from solid good wholesome foods (but that is my preference). You didnt mention your caloric intake per day. I recommend either taking a whey supplement and/or just eating sound solid protein items.
You can do both or one or the other. Protein you do want to keep up--along with the supporting cast of nutrients. What did one recommend on protein intake for your body weight? What were the suggestions? But to answer your question on protein.......YES do keep this at a good ratio.

+rep for a motivational push............ROCK ON!

According to my body weight, height, age, sex, etc., It was recommended I have at least 100g of protein a day, all from solid foods. Yea, I will stick to solid foods, I might end up taking that Whey when I start lifting more after I lose weight(get my body fat % down). Thanx for the rep! I'm at 6 :)

EDIT:
Forgot to say my caloric intake recommendation, according to many calculations its about 2400(for maintenance).

With all your advice, what did you settle on with calories then? On full body work out days does this include any other activities? And, on these days, your caloric maintenance is calculated at 2400? Is this what I am understanding? Or is this a blanket 2400c MT line for each day.

No, 2400 is about what my maintenance is(no workout, just like walking, basically to function and light activity). So, on my days of just cardio(no full body workout) is 2000 calories. On my full body workout days, I will add 200 calories, so 2200 calories on the full body workout + cardio days. I don't know what you mean by that 2400c MT? I'll look it up :)

2400c means 2400 calories.

MT= Maintenance.

Im not disagreeing with the caloric figures. Im just trying to find out how you came about these numbers---to get an idea if they may be correct. To get them exposed to other eyes as well. To ensure your on the right path.

.

:11doh:

I double checked my calculations, and it seems fine. My stats once again:
16yo, 222 lbs, 5'11 height, male.

According to that site, my BMR is 2240, and thats just for my body to function, then another calculator has this thing that includes activity(walking up stairs, walking, etc.) And it is about 2400 calories. Do you think my calorie intake during my workout days(2200)/non-workout days(2000) is OK? Thanx for the help :)
EDIT: Do you think I should lower my calories?

Hey!

Long time no post! I've been busy with school and work lately, but not too busy to diet/exercise! :) I am happy to say i lost 10 lbs. and my size 38 jeans are falling off my waist! I do cardio 5 times a week with just 2 weight training sessions a week. the cardio sessions last at least 30 minutes each time and the weight training days I try to get full body. My diet is much cleaner, no more hot dogs after 10 PM or leftover pizza for breakfast :) I've been having a craving for fruits (unfortunately I still do not find veggies tasteful) Anyway, I hope to post up progress pics soon, and an FYI for everone, I will not post pics until I lose my gut (man boobs I will probably end with chest muscle rather than flat chest, which is good, better actually), which will not be soon (that finally got through my head. I hope to post progress pics soon!

Aiming..........DUDE!............

How in the hell are ya.......Missed ya man!

You've been ROCKEN!

Good to hear from ya............!!!!

Best wishes to you my friend,

Progress!

Well Chillen you did it, even though I said I would post progress pics in 2 weeks, I got anxious to post them now! :) The first picture is the original and the second one is today. I am now a 6'0 male, 212 lbs. Now, there is not much difference which is why I was hesitant to post progress pics, but I honestly do FEEL a difference. Soon to come: Six Pack Abs!

EDIT: OMG! I just noticed how uneven my first pic looks, eww...
