Aim low!

Okay! I am new and I am just starting a diary since that is supposed to help out big time.

Let's see...

My basic stats:
ht- 5'2"
wt- 158
weight I wish I was- 124
next actual weight goal- 140
Amount of time- I dunno. That's 18 pounds... I really need to get rid of it, though!

I guess you could say my biggest weight loss crimes have been overeating and procrastination. Just about everyday for the last couple of years, I have told myself "Oh I can _______ today as long as I __________"

Well, you know about how far THAT gets you.

(I am using the questions from a sticky about diaries so if it sounds like I am leaping from topic to topic, that's where I'm getting them from)

I want to lose weight to make myself feel better and because I am joining the US Air Force. I haven't always been so overweight, and I remember how much better it was to be thin!!!

I've noticed that another big pitfall for me is the speed of my eating. I go out to eat all the time, and I can't help but notice that I can clear away 2 plates of food and see whoever I'm with still munching away on plate #1!!!

3 things to do differently about food:
1. eat slower
2. eat less
3. watch those darn calories!!!

I binge eat majorly, especially when it comes to white meat.

I exercise at home, though I need to start going to the track and running a lot!

Well, that's a start, I guess!

Best of luck Syl!

Biking, swimming, rowing, and especially weight lifting are all other ways of burning calories. Running will feel as if a chore soon enough if that be your only annual form of exercise. ;)

Hi sylvan

maybe when i lose a pound or two

:-D

btw i put in your other post that i just made a big pot of veggie soup to try to combat some of my "munchies"...cuz i cant shake that hunger sometimes even after i have eaten.

Hi Sylvan,
I have an idea for you when trying to eat slower. Try putting your fork or spoon down between bites, I actually bought chop sticks to eat with. When I use them it takes me a lot longer to eat. Hope this helps!

Okay, I am back!!!

Due to recent personal events, I may not be joining the Air Force as planned.

But I have decided to lose weight anyway!

So... I have also moved to New York City, which is good because the job I got here requires me to walk several blocks to the train, and then several blocks from the train to work. Excellent, because that's just that much more exercise (especially considering the steps up and down on the train.)

Plus, there's a gym down the street that has monthly memberships for only $24.00 (it's a special they're running now, anyway).

I haven't really lost much weight yet, but I'm sure that now that I will actually be active almost everyday it won't be so hard!

Oh, and I can actually put up before and after pics now!

eevee, that sounds like a really good idea... Putting my fork down between bites... Especially since I usually eat with other people. I could take the time to strike up a little conversation between bites!

Welcome to the site and congrats on starting your diary. One other thing I would suggest is drinking a glass of water before eating a meal or before snacking. It puts something in ya and can actually make you feel fuller faster!

Weeeeeeeeeee!!!

Okay, so for the last week or so, I haven't been doing so good on the whole eating right thing.

So I was like "I need to get bck to the forums before I start gaining weight!"

It seems that being able to read about and communicate about health and weight loss often is crucial to my success...

In other words, I'm glad to "see" you all again!

Urk! Having major appetie problems these last two weeks!

Here lately, I have been CONSTANTLY hungry. Even after eating a huge amount of food, I still want to eat.

The weirdest thing was that the other night, I wasn't apying attention to how much I was eating, and suddenly I had some intense stomach pains. Thinking back, I realize that I had eaten a vegetarian sushi, three or four bagels, two muffins, a roll, a quart of chinese food, some curried tofu, and a couple pints of veggie jambalaya... all in the space of something like two hours.

You know how they say that a horse has no hunger-control mechanism, that if they can, theyb will just eat until their stomachs burst? I think that's why it started to hurt so much... Because that was way more than my stomach should have been able to hold.

And I was still hungry.

That's so weird. Maybe it'll go away. I was doing pretty good, for a while there.
