Ahhh Pushups

Alright is it normal for everyone how come when i'm tryin to do that very last push up i will feel it more in my arms than in my chest. Do pushups help arms and pecs or i dont know someone explain

Pushups work multiple muscles danny. The are a compound movement, the same as bench press, but you only use your body weight. When doing a pushup, you use your chest, shoulders, tris, and lats (a little) as part of the main movement. Then you also have all the supporting muscle groups used to keep your body in good form such as abs, lower back, hip flexors, quads...etc.

Notice that if you do a good ab workout before you try pushups, you will feel your abs burning too since they are used to keep your body straight and in proper form for pushups.

But, to answer your main question, the 3 main muscle groups used in pushups are chest, shoulders and tris. Generally when your chest is getting fatigued, you will pull your elbows closer to your body and use more of your tris for the last few reps.

my ab workouts consist of...

weighted cable crunches supersetted with incline leg lifts 3x15 each
weighted side bends on a roman chair supersetted with leg lifts in the captains chair 3x15

Then burn out with some incline situps 2xfailure

I don't have very good abs though. I am still at a higher body fat % (like 13 or so)...but there are lots of guys on here with terrific abs. They can help you out a bunch

have either of you guys tried push-ups with elastic bands or, using chains? this is a great way to add resistance to a good upper body classic. i sometimes put a 45lb plate in a bookbag and do some push-ups to change things up. just a thought
