congratulations.. you've done very well :D

Thanks Mal! I'm feeling pretty encouraged right now! I'm scared though, because the hormones will be shifting next week, if you know what I mean, and if it all goes, uh, uphill, that'll be hard to deal with! (Takes deep breath, crosses fingers!)

Woohoo On the bodyfat decrease!!!
You're doing awesome!
Don't worry about next week. Just keep doing what you're doing :)

Thanks Amunet, OHD, Changeforlife!!

So I weigh myself everyday, and have to be prepared for the ups and downs that naturally come with that - but today the scale was TWO AND A HALF pounds lighter than yesterday!! Okay, now it's probably a lot water weight, but JEEZ!! PLEASE PLEASE stick around new weight!!

Okay, now I've got a totally terrible question, but please bear with me. My original goal was Halloween - because next weekend I have to see family I haven't seen in months. And I want them to be shocked, SHOCKED I TELL YOU! So, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about those 48 hour diets - I know it's not permanent, I know it's mostly water weight. But I only have to see my family for a weekend, and then I've got til Christmas to get more weight off for real. I know this is horrid, and I don't want something that's really unhealthy, but if anyone has ever tried anything that made them "lose" a few pounds for a few days, I'd REALLY like to know! I figure that, combined with the work I've actually accomplished, should make for a comment or two. (None of them know I'm doing this, and I don't want to tell them until they say "my, have you lost weight?")

Thanks guys!

Howdy Aeris - I have no suggestions on that one. lol.. sorry :D Anyway - just checking in on you. Have a great evening!! :D:D

I had heard of the 48 hr weightloss drinks so I tried one a couple yrs ago. It was the most nasty thing I had tasted since I accidently ate a bean in some chili. If it didnt taste so bad maybe I would have been able to see if it might actually work ..but eww..
You know what I think (if you even care)? I think you should go to this family thing and let them get a good look at you. Then when you lose all that weight by Christmas they will be even more shocked!! You do whats right for you. Thats all that matters. Good luck. :)
(You could get one of those slimming under garmets..those are like $20-30 might be cheaper then the 48hr diet drink or pill..)

:)

Thanks Pequin! *waves*

Thanks for the suggestion! Sigh, I know I probably shouldn't do the 48 hour thing, but I can't help wanting the added boost!! My bf thinks it's silly :p -- he also can't seem to remember not to mention to family members that I'm "dieting" :D My mother keeps asking what I'm up to when she calls - I keep making things up, because I don't want to tell her I just got back from the gym!!

I vote for the slimming garment or just let them see you as you are and be shocked at the next gathering. I don't advice the 48 hour diets period...because fad diets are unhealthy and unsafe. This is a lifestyle change, remember, no crazy stuff. We have to change how we live, eat, breath and move in order to make this work and stay off. I know you may be disappointed that you're not where you want to be but don't let that encourage you to do something drastic and unhealthy to your body. Ultimately, you're doing this for you and not them, so it'll be ok if they don't see the new you til Christmas.

But even if you do go ahead and try it, I'll just let you know that my cousin tried it once..I forget the name of it, she got it from WalMart. Yea, she lost about 10 lbs in a few days, but as soon as she put solid food back in her mouth it all came right back. All she did was "drink" for two solid days, she had headaches and dizziness b/c her body wasn't getting what it needed. I'd advice against it, b/c more than likely before the weekend is over you'll be right back to your pre -48 hour diet. And if you try to "drink" your food versus eating that whole weekend you're gonna pass out!

I think those fad diets are what help to create eating disorders in people. I know you don't want to do it long term, but doing it only once is will have an impact on your psyche. You can do this, you WILL do this, just keep up the great work you're doing now. We didn't gain it all over night, and we're not going to loose it all over night...or two. lol You've done such a great job already, don't sabatoge your metabolism for the sake of one weekend.

Sigh!! Thanks OHD, you're probably right. I'll just pick out the most super slimmig clothes I've got - my mother may be the only one who'll notice anyway. She's the only one of my extended family who noticed that I had put on weight (the future sister in law never knew me thinner). If my mother see me in shorts or a bathing suit she'll surely notice!! (She's also the only person who in the family who knows I wasn't happy about my weight).

Well, I just got back from one of the most emotionally exhausting weekends I've had in a really long time. The bf's family is having some trouble - well, one couple in particular - they are splittin up, at least temporarily, and I ended up trying to play therapist all weekend in another state. Saturday turned into a major cheat day! Okay, you remember how I said Pepsi tasted like crap? Well, Barq's root beer apparently still tastes FANTASTIC - much to my dismay. I brought food with me, but with all the emotional trauma going on, and then so many family members together, ordering delivery food in groups, etc -- I ended up eating a good breakfast, but then pizza, pizza, barq's, and like HALF of one of those nice big bags of Chex mix. And a bowl of ice cream. Sigh. Okay, so I just told myself, chalk it up as a cheat day, and forget about it!

Somehow, I still appear to be a pound and a half lighter than when I left - which could be a today fluke, but hey, I was terrified I'd gone UP! Not changing the ticker yet though -- I'll give it a few days to see if it's real!
