Yum. That pizza sounds good! Wonder if I have all those ingredients hiding in the kitchen?

.. I have found it difficult to get ENOUGH calories in my day in a balanced way that is appropriate for my weight. I generally eat around 2,000 calories a day when I try to aim for about 2,500-2,800. I just can't seem to find the time to eat that much throughout my day ... so maybe seeing the way other people balance their diets will help me be able to squeeze those few hundred calories into my diet.
You got me thinking about whether I'm still in the proper range. I started at 171 and am now at 157 which isn't a huge change, but I suppose I should make adjustments along the way. I tried from about.com. I'm sure there are others...What source did you use to determine your ideal calorie intake? Maybe you consulted a physician or nutritionist, but if you're going the amateur route(like me) I'd love to hear what sites you're using.
What's funny is that I hadn't paid much attention to my caloric need changes (I guess I still don't see myself as having lost 20lbs. already) so I probably should keep reevaluating as I go.

I kept thinking that with time, as I lost the weight, the PCOS would start to calm down and my cycles wouldn't be so terrible. I pretty much feel like crap every other week, ... ovulation week and then PMS week. I hate it ... and I just want to feel normal.
Random thought - your user name "addiecakes" makes me want to eat cake! Ahhh!!!![]()
Addiecakes! I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. I had to google PCOS because I'm .... well, ignorant.
Webmd says:
How is it treated?
Regular exercise, healthy foods, and weight control are key treatments for PCOS. ...The first step in managing PCOS is to get regular exercise and eat heart-healthy foods.
Most women with PCOS can benefit from losing weight. Even losing 10lb may help get your hormones in balance and regulate your menstrual cycle. PCOS can make it hard to lose weight, so work with your doctor to make a plan that can help you succeed.
You are doing exactly the right things to reduce your symptoms (and this is in my professional opinion)! The syndrome is fighting you every step of the way, causing you pain, and causing your hormones and cravings to go haywire. The important thing is, you're fighting back! The 20+ lbs you've lost so far proves it. The fact that you eat well and responsibly even when you're stressed proves it. The fact that you're now stressing over 2500 calories on you're mom's 50th birthday proves it. I bet the old Addiecakes could binge on nearly twice as many calories with wings and pizza and pastries and not even notice; it was just habit.
Give yourself credit for how far you've come! Stay protective of all your hard work and don't let this syndrome take it away from you. It's okay to have bad days. We'll help you beat 'em back with a stick!
After reading BellyOff's post, I feel like I should go get some popmpoms and be cheering in the background! Go Addiecakes! Good job not losing sight of your goal!
Haha, thanks Veronica! They need a pom-pom wielding smiley on here!
