Abuse of Powers

I'm not a chillen "cult member" as you would so call it. but I do like him, he does occasionally check in on my journal and offer an encouraging word (that I recieve from so few in real life) and I appreciate that.

that being said. Some similarities I've noticed in his first post on this thread and his "wife's" on his chillout log are... very disturbing.

I have absolutely got to agree with this.
 
Similar usage of boldening and italicizing, similar way of writing (kind of... it's kind of underlying when he makes happy encouraging posts), similar statements even (not getting paid).

I dunno... i'm pretty dissapointed right now. I hope I'm wrong and it's something I have to apologize for later because I'd rather feel bad about it than know that I'm correct in my assumptions. Otherwise, that's pretty messed up.

Heres the dish from me,

I first joined here a long time back when I was just starting out training. This forum with members that had (sorry for using this word) "integrity" helped me meet my goals. Now dont get me wrong I am in no way a nerd or someone to take anything on the net seriously but this forum means something to me. I come on here everyday and try to give out good advice the best I can. It makes me feel good to give out advice to someone who may be in the same position as I was when I joined the forum.

In regards to Chillen and all the saga that has been going on.

I think that The whole thing has been being fueled by lack of understanding and strong opinions. I tried not to get involved in the whole thing but it is hard not too.

Lets all get back to doing what we do best and support eachother and have a few laughs along the way.

look at his log... that's all I can say. If what I pointed out is false or misinterpreted by me, then I'm a ****ing asshole, but if I'm right, that is messed up
 
chillen seems pretty cool to me? i think allot of you are jealous of him. If you don't like him don't post or respond to him. and people are allowed to post however they want as long as they don't brake the rules...i am pretty sure hes not. soooooo simple

The double posting in the beginning was the content of my off the cuff comments. From what I can tell that had since stopped for awhile.

Favorite posters because you talked about the power of the mind from what I saw. The mind is a powerful tool. Doesnt mean everything you said was gold either.

But I didnt monitor the chill log so I have no idea what actually happened in there.

Wheres CCR?

He doesnt post on weekends, only during the week. At least this has been his pattern. He should be on Monday morning sometime.

(Just wanted to answer the question on CCR).

I will break my silence on this subject to accept responsibility:

As I mentioned before I accept full responsibility for my wifes action. I will own the responsibilities associated with my forum account. I should not have allowed her to use my account. With this in mind, I will put an offer on the table and accept a infraction for mismanagement of my forum account (if there isnt a name for it, just use one of the current options). This is in no way undermining the importance of the integrity of the COL. However, if you remove the fact of allowing another person to use my account, the outcome of the differences in the COL would have been different if it were ME handling the first set of circumstances (I think my charactor proves this to be true). I therefore, would advise giving me an infraction of discplinary action. I beleve this is a mature reply and would ask it be treated as such.

edit: (I will NOT change the way I post--there is no debate on this. In over 4,000 posts I have broken no forum rules, you will have to ban me. Read my lengthy prior post in this thread for a synopsis on how I feel on this subject matter)

Wow, I totally missed this whole thing!

Can I just say this first of all, I have over 2,000 posts and I didn't know I had powers to abuse; please don't take my powers away until I've at least had the chance to abuse them and terrorise you all! ;)

Seriously though, if the right to give infractions hasn't been taken away already then it should be. I can't see any good reason why I should have the right to say what's acceptable behaviour on here

This **** is just going to happen again, you all realize that, don't you? After all this is said and done, nothing has changed. Chillen is still here because his "wife" in his place did something that he can't really take any responsibility for. His posts are still the same format (Leigh I agree with your 'idjit posting' angle)...we are going to dance this same dance in a few months.

The last time I saw as civil a post as Chillen's were the last time we threw bombs at eachother and he had to explain himself to the mods.

Chillen I appreciate that you don't believe in what I say but will defend to the death my right to say it...

But my opinion of you grows smaller in leaps in bounds. I know what you did. But most importantly, YOU know what you did...have you no shame? You prove all the naysayers right everytime you post. You reveal more to us than you attempt to hide.
 
But I do have a solution. Chillen, your tenacity is commendable...but making your own conditions? That's BS. If you're going to take responsibility do so by cleaning up your posts. I'm sure Leigh will support this-- that means typing and forming your thoughts in a coherent manner...not just typing whatever loud and obnoxious thought and setence fragment that pops into your head. Obviously you've shown you can do this so take responsibility and do it. Your responsibility is beyond your thread. You have a responsibility to this board to maintain a level of class. It's a responsibility levied on you due to your volume of posts. Infractions and neg reps are useless. You know this. But now you know what you're really responsible for, and it's up to you to be responsible and do so.

Good to hear.

As Leip pointed out in an earlier post, in her opinion, your wife not only improperly accessed your account, but your wife also inappropriately issued negative reps and infractions when she had no right to do so.

Since you " accept full responsibility for my wifes action " perhaps you should do the mature thing and you could ask the mods to ensure that those members' who received inappropriate negative reps and infractions by your wife - will have them removed.

Here are my thoughts on this subject...

I don't post, I don't read log threads, fitness threads (unless I get an email for a reported post) I read some of the sports threads and members lounge threads though. Between getting ready for my last few Shotokan tests, playing in my band, working longer hours, taking kids to cheerleading and wrestling, my time is pretty much chewed up.

I will say this however...

Mods have recieved very specific guidelines on which behavior to suspend/infract/ban and we are held to those standards. If we abuse that power, we are held responsible for our actions. For the mods who haven't seen that thread, I'm assuming its still in the mod forum.

Regular members should have NO right to give infractions to anybody, regardless on how many posts they have. There are mods here, and there is a report post function. I understand this was done by someones wife on her husbands account, but the feature should be dissallowed for members, however thats not my call, that would be up to Sean.

Well said.

I suspect the vast majority of forum members - as I do - agree with you 100%.

The capacity to enforce forum rules by means of altering member accounts and / or issuing some form of sanction for violation of forum rules should rest with mods - and with mods only - and not anyone ( i.e. simply a member with a high post count ) else.

Let's hope this ability for ' non-mods ' to enforce forum rules gets corrected asap.:)

After reading this thread......I why do I feel like I am in High school and we have "sections" of friends...people taking sides?

Not defending anyone, not asking anyone to be banned or restricted, nor my place to do so.

I never had any issues with anyone, if I did i would repply directly and then simply move on......sometimes that is the best method....:jump1:

Normally that's the sensible option but when someone comes on and starts handing out infractions which could ultimately see someone banned from the site it gets a little more serious

It's funny looking at peoples rep scores today though, on the whole they're a lot higher than on Friday
