Abbie's diary

Hi,

OK, well I am determined to lose weight and keep it off, so I thought that an online diary would be a way to make myself accountable to all of you. So what I'm basically saying, is that if I seem to be slipping, feel free to give me a prod (but in a nice way! :p )

I think I weigh about 11 st 11, but will start properly tomorrow morning with a weigh-in.

My plan is to set a number of small, hopefully realistic goals, with my main aim being to weight 10 st by the 1st of January 2010. That's 25 lb in 3 months, which should be possible. This is what I hope to do:

1. Weigh myself 1st thing every morning, and record it here
2. Measure my waist, chest, thighs and upper arms every Sunday and record it here
3. Eat breakfast every morning
4. Do not snack between meals
5. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day

I'm going back to university on Thursday, which means I'll become much more active as I'm a keen rower. However, I also generally put on weight at university, as rowing makes me hungry. Eating breakfast before rowing will be a challenge, but I think worth it.

My goals will be in my signature.

Abbie

Well, my goals were too long to go in my signature, so they can go here instead:

1. Weigh below 162 lb (BMI=27)
2. Weigh below 160 lb (BMI=26.7)
3. Weigh below 156 lb (BMI=26)
4. Weigh below 150 lb (BMI=25)
5. Weigh below 144 lb (BMI=24)
6. Weigh below 140 lb (BMI=23.4)

Day 1
SW: 165 lb
CW: 165 lb
GW: 140 lb

Well, today was the first day, and I started by weighing myself. I am 165 lb, which is exactly what I thought.

For breakfast I ate a large bowl of high-fibre cereal with semi-skimmed milk. Lunch was a Slim-fast and dinner was lasagne with vegetable stir-fry and 1 small scoop of ice cream. I don't want to use slim-fasts normally, but ran out of time to make a packed lunch this morning.

I felt slightly hungry before lunch, but fine the rest of the day, and was proud of myself!

Day 2
SW: 165 lb
CW: 164 lb
GW: 140 lb

Apparently I lost a pound in one day. I'm sure it's mostly water weight, but it's still a great encouragement for the start of my diet!

Hey Abbie,
we have similar starting points and similar goals, only I have been at this for a while (I lost most of the weight in the first 6-8 months, then spent a year in Africa which initially triggered more weight loss but then a little gain).
I am hoping to get rid of my last 18 pounds til x-mas but I am a very slow loser (ok that sounds in now way cool!).

One little thing, weighing in daily may be great but it may also be crummy. I get really desperate when I weigh in every day because weight fluctuates a lot every week so you may have a "fat wednesday" and be up to 167 and then on your real weigh in date (sunday for instance) be 163. Makes no sense but has to do with salt and water in our bodies. You will see what works for you, I for myself am going to weigh on twice a week I think, sunday and wednesday maybe.

What are you studying? I am starting specialization training in genetic counselling next week. I am so excited to start getting my brain in shape again too ;)! Just a good body is not enough for a great lady :D!
Have a lovely weekend, Camy
