ABBAgirl's Diary

This morning I was at bootcamp at 7:00 !!! I can't go tonight as I have rehearsal with my band, and I didn't want to miss. Today's workout was ALL abs with some cardio thrown in; lots of ball work. :svengo: And I am STILL sore from Tuesday's workout! I think she is trying to kill me...

Our summer weather seems to be here, with
temps in the mid 20s. Before I know it we will be up near 40, and then that dreaded heat wave week of 40-45 degree weather :nopity: So I need to make sure I am hitting the park every morning after dropping off my girls to get in my walking/running before the real heat of the day hits.

I haven't weighed myself yet, and won't until next week. I am working so hard, but I don't feel any difference in my clothes, and I don't want to be discouraged. I am trying not to be down on myself for the gain, and just deal with it by looking ahead.

Cheers

Sounds like things are going well.

I completely agree on the whole not weighing yourself. I have a friend who weighs herself twice every day and i think she beats herself up over it. Bodies fluctuate so much. I weigh myself every monday morning, no earlier because i don't want to be disappointed.

okay, let's try this again. Just posted and then lost it!

Today I did another 10K. This time I was able to run 4K and then speed walk the other 6K. That is an improvement from last time! My knees didn't hurt at all this time. I think the trick is to intersperse the running with the walking. Next time I am going to try alternating 1:1.

I can't wait until the scale starts reflecting my efforts!

Cheers

:waving:Yesterday did another 5K. Today just a 45 min easy walk with eldest daughter. Good in more ways than physical!

Tomorrow morning I take our youngest for more blood work. Results from the last one show no thyroid trouble to explain her temp fluctuations, but her cortisol is too low. So for the last 24 hours we have collected her urine:ack2: so they can test it for pheochromocytoma, a problem with the adrenals. We shall see. We must get to the bottom of whatever is causing her terrible discomfort.

Hello ABBA I wish you the best of luck with you and your youngest daughter, I hope things are figured out so she can start to feel better. :)

With Bootcamp, Running, Walking, Eating well, it's a comin!! I think you will start to notice a difference pretty soon. I give it a good two weeks. :coolgleamA: You'll just breeze on through ( with all of your hard work, of course)

:waving:Thanks, sweetie! This a.m. I did 6K, walking/running intervals. Then tonight was cardio/core workout. Tomorrow I will do at least 5k in the morning after dropping the littles off; then another boot camp in the evening that is interval type stuff. On the days when I don't have bootcamp, I will go for the 10K.

I really hope that my efforts pay off. I am working harder than I have in a looong time! :ack2:

Cheers

No kidding. If I worked as hard as half the ppl on here, and with a POSITIVE attitude, I'd be melting off these last few blubberz....haha :gnorsi:

:biggrinjester:Today I did my early morning 5k, then one hour bootcamp, THEN my BFF popped by to go for an hour walk!!! I think I'll sleep well tonight...

:party:Very pleased to step gingerly onto the scale this a.m. and find that I am down a good few pounds. Still at least 5 from where I was, but things are looking (and fitting) better! Tomorrow I am going to do my 10k if all goes well.

It's tricky having a kid with diabetes; never know how her numbers will be and whether school will happen or not. :nopity: How selfish am I to hope she goes to school so I can actually do my exercise and then get in a few hours of work, too?:toetap05:

Anyway, I know I am on the right track.

:driving:Started the day with another 10K, half and half walking/running. I did it with a friend, and it was much more enjoyable! That is a rare luxury, though. I think I will buy myself an MP3 player so I can have something to listen to while I exercise.

This afternoon/evening I took my girls to a favorite beach in town. They were swimming and having a grand time! It was pretty relaxing, and so good for my daughter to see that she can still have a terrific, "normal" time even with her diabetes. Yes, she did have to come out of the water and get checked a couple of times to see if her blood sugar dropped, but otherwise it was no big deal! We even had a picnic by the water. :Angel_anim: It was luverly!

Since I won't get to do bootcamp tomorrow, I'll try to do another 10k first thing. Then I'll spend time working with my stability ball - my core has turned to mush! :cuss: Time to reclaim it! :smash:

Cheers

I have been using my stability ball getting my abs back to their *awesome* shape. i just need to be doing it regularly, and PRESTO! it will be great abs again. I also picked up a mini stair-stepper machine at a garage sale and is it ever great! I am totally in a sweat after just a few minutes in front of telly! Nice change from treadmill in the dungeon, as this is small enough for me to keep in the living room.:hurray:

Today instead of my usual at the park I went for a walk/jog/hike with a friend for an hour. It was a grand change of scenery! Then when I came home I did the stairstepper for about 1/2 hour, plus time on The Ball. I am consciously eating better, too. Amazing how it helps not to actually keep junk in the house!!! :iamwithstupid:

I haven't weighed myself lately as I think I am starting to retain water due to my TOM coming up. However, I'm sure to be losing with all my efforts!

All for now

This morning I went kayaking with a friend. I haven't done it before, and it was great! So much fun. It wasn't even really hot, and the lake was fairly calm. I look forward to going again.:Angel_anim:

I haven't done any "real" exercise yet today, but will go on the stair stepper later tonight while watching telly. :driving:

We are heading back to BC Children's Hospital soon for more testing on our youngest daughter. I feel like there is much to do in preparation for this trip, as this time it will be ALL of us going instead of just my daughter and me. :nopity:

Got in my 10K today, but now knee is sore. I think I ran 6 and speed-walked 4. Listening to music sure did help me keep my speed up! I'll have to save up my allowance and buy an MP3 thingy. They still seem pretty high-tech to me!

I am trying not to get frustrated over my seeming lack of progress; obviously I am healthier than if I just sat around on my arse and did nothing! And right now I am still under a rather large load of stress, to boot. So I will hang in there, make wise choices on our trip to the Coast tomorrow, and just roll with it, baby!

Cheers

You're kicking ass!!

I feel the same was with not seeing progress.

Stay Strong!! Have a great trip!

I just saw your pics ABBAgirl and you look amazing! Congrats on your weight lose thus far and I look forward to seeing more updates!

:Angel_anim:Thanks, all! Trip to Children's Hospital went well, now we just wait for the biopsy results.

Today was very overcast and threatening, so I used my old treadmill. Boy, does it make me sweat - way more than just running. It's because it is on such a ridiculous incline. During commercials I did pushups and crunches, just like I used to do. Felt good, and I will keep it up.

I took my 12 yr old shopping this afternoon. She is my height and weight, but is carrying more "extras" than I am. I suspect she will grow even taller, as her hands and feet are quite a bit bigger than my own. At any rate, she asked me to buy her a corset to go under her dress (corset for lack of a better word - sucks in the gut and waist, anyway). As I want her to feel good about herself, of course I bought it for her. But the best part is that the clerk (who could use some lessons in tactfulness) held up the corset and loudly asked, "Wow! Is this for YOU? You TOTALLY don't need it - you're so skinny!"

So that made my day! Now I am ready to go on a power walk with my daughter.

Cheers

:auto:Going camping tomorrow for 2 nights!! Although it makes our life even more crazy and I haven't even totally recovered from our trip to Children's Hospital, I am really looking forward to it. We are going with 2 other families we've been friends with forever. We are pretty much novices when it comes to camping, but we do have a tent!

My bootcamp experience has helped to spur me back into my old workout routine. I sweat much more working out this way than just plain running without an incline. Today I used my stairstepper for an hour, alternating with crunches and pushups. It was GREAT! nothing like working up a good sweat. :smash:

It feels great to be back into the 150s after my scary gain up to 164 after our daughter was diagnosed. Now I just need to lose 4 more to get back to 154, where I was for the longest time. Once I am there, I will aim to get down to 150. I'm hopeful it will happen! When I did get down to 147 last summer, I was only able to stay there for a few days. It really makes me wonder about our bodies having a "set point" for our weight? Either way, I think I look pretty good and feel great.

Cheers

Your weight loss so far is amazing. I bet that twenty pounds has made a huge difference...getting the 'edge' off and everything. I think its great that you are also concerned about your health as well. When your losing weight, you look and feel much much better. Good luck!

Thanks for stopping by, Mirriam!

As for camping - I drank too much wine and ate a few too many smores, :angelsad2:but tried to offset it by doing a good amount of walking and hiking. Tomorrow I will be back to my workouts in earnest. :smash:

I am so tired now after shopping, packing, setting up, tearing down, unpacking, laundry, and cleaning up. But we had a good time, and that's why we went!:sifone:

What a crazy week! The day we came home from camping was Father's Day, which meant rushing around for my own Dad and my husband. Since then I have attended 2 award nights, tomorrow is my band rehearsal, shopped for 2 b-day parties for my daughter's classmates, have one more end-of-school party plus a going away party to supervise!!! :nopity: GOOD GRIEF!

But I am happy to say that, amidst all of the unpacking, camping laundry, party shopping, event attending, and trying to squeeze in 4 hours of work time per day, I HAVE STILL BEEN WORKING OUT EVERY DAY!!! :Angel_anim: Yay me! My body is already responding to the greater intensity of the workouts and things are fitting better. :smash:

Hi again, long time no write!
My summer has been busy but fun so far. Yesterday I got back from taking my girls camping again. We got home at 11 am, then unpacked food and all had showers so we could get to the restaurant for my mom's b-day party. After that I came home and worked, then we went over to mom's for dessert. then I came back home and worked some more! It was a very tiring day.

so today was much easier. All I did was work, work out, work some more, go to the diabetes support group, and then take a walk with my daughter. :sifone:

I continue working out hard on my treadmill and with my ball and weights 5x per week. I expect that my weight remains in the 150s, though haven't weighed myself recently. Maybe tomorrow I will!:smash:
