Ab area (Not a general how do I ? though)

I was thinking, wouldn't it make sense to start getting my diet in order and my cardio going and work into the ab exercises instead of jumping right into a bunch of crunches, etc.? I am just under the understanding that as long as I have that layer of fat on my stomach and midsection, I'm not going to see any results until I get my eating habits right and my cardio going well. But instead of waiting, I know I should at least start working on the crunches and other exercises also, that way when the layer DOES start going down, I will already have started beginning the growth and firming process of those particular muscles, right?

ur sort of half right...bodybuilders don't train their abs until 8 or so weeks out from a show but still u want some muscle there so u can c if definition is coming through or not...i'd go with weighted movements for 8 - 10 reps to actually make the muscles bigger..high reps only builds endurance in the muscle and doesn't change it's size or shape

There is nothing wrong with doing ab work. Just remember it is like any other muscle, it needs time to "recover". Working them twice a week is plenty in my opinion. However, as you mentioned, you will not see the full benefits until your diet is in check.

eating right and cardio alone wont do much if you don't emphasize on reducing your body fat % to a certain amount. around 9% - 14% , thast when u will see your hard earned abs **POP OUT**

in addition, u need to workout your whole body, to achieve your 6 pack abs goal. u cna do crunches all day, but theres no such thing as spot reducing.

so my recommendations are:

1. start a workout plan for ur upperbody, as well ur as lowerbody
2. Figuring out what to eat, no more junk food!!!!!
3. best luck to yah!

its a pretty long way, but i'm sure u will get there ;]
