A new start for MommyOf2!!

Christina!!!! It's always good to 'hear' from you!! Yep - the heat's bad. We had this weird break yesterday afternoon. It was comfy for the first time in a looooong time. Today it's back to hot, hot, hot. It never used to be hot like this here. That's oneof the reasons I live here - I don't like it too hot OR too cold - lol! Pretty much 65-75 range is all I can handle.

Anyhow, I'm going off to Step and Sculpt today. I hope it's ok. I did weights yesterday as well. Maybe our teacher will alternate different muscles since several of us are in her group personal training class.

I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hi Laurel, I don't know if I ever heard where in Southern CA you are - I'm in South OC and yes, this heat has been MISERABLE! Especially with the humidity!

URGH - I like it around 70 too.

Have a good day :D

Hi M2M! I'm in Fullerton, actually. Where are you in South County? This heat is awful! We try to get to the beach as much as possible. Have you been to the Fair? We haven't had the nerve with all this heat.

Well, today has been good! I did 1 hour of Step and Sculpt. It was pretty good! It's funny b/c a bunch of people I know have been asking me, "How'd you lose weight?" cuz they want to lose some, too. So I have no fewer than 5 friends who've joined and have started taking my classes and doing the treadmill. The first Step-Sculpt one of them said, "No wonder Laurel lost so much weight doing this!" And the rest of the people in my class have asked that I tell people I go to another gym when they ask b/c the classes are getting too full and there are too few treadmills available. I just thought that was pretty funny! It's so weird thinking that people want to do what I've done - I just can't get used to it. I felt so bad abt. myself a year ago.

OK - enough rambling! Oh - food's been good today as well.

B: Kashi and coffee
L: Ham sandwich; 10 quakes; grapes and cherries; diet minutemaid

For dinner, my sweet husband requested steak. I figured I'd accommodate that request since he took such good care of my house and children while I was away with my gal pals all weekend. LOL! I thought I'd do salad w/ the steak and either corn or baked potato.

What an awesome feeling it must be to have people asking... :) you've worked hard... you deserve the positive attention... especially if you felt bad before... As the old commercial goes... you've come a long way, baby.. :D Enjoy it :D

Laurel, suck up all the attention they wanna give ya! :D You certainly do deserve it!

You're doing a great job, Laurel! Enjoy dinner with hubby and don't let the blasted heat get the best of you (thank goodness it cooled down here for the week!!!).

Hey Laurel! Just stopping by to check on you. Seems like I've been reading about you in everyone else's diaries for awhile! Lol! The workouts are looking awesome! You have always done a great job on the exercise thing. Want to do some for me? Lol! ;) Hmmm... not to hot or too cold down there, huh? Maybe I need to move! ROFL!

Thanks Tams!! Reading about me in other people's diaries???? Should I be scared??

OK - I'm off to Group Personal Training! Sending vibes to our teacher that she do things that won't leave me too sore!!!

Thankfully, I don't think I'llbe as sore as I was dreading I'd be after Group Personal Training. Let's see, we started wtih sprints on the bike, then we had the exercise ball between our ankles and made circles (ouch!), then we did jumps where we touched the ground while squatting, and jumped in the air reaching up. Killer! It hurt. Then we did some more abs w/ the ball followed by more sprints on the bike. Then we did weights. 8 lbs in each arm, thank you very much!!! I never thought I could do it. We did hammer curls, bic ep curls, triceps, and I can't remember what else. We did more jumps and more sprints on the bike and more abs and were finally done. What an hour!!

OK - I think I'll be taking a break tomorrow unless I run or walk in the afternoon since my kids have story time in the a.m.

I hope everyone had a great day!

Man, Laurel, I'm tired just reading!! LOL You deserve that break tomorrow :D Enjoy it! You're doing great! :D

I am definitely taking a break today. My child is sick on top of it all. So I think we're going to just stay home and take it easy. Maybe I'll muster up the energy to do a kickboxing dvd. Just nothing with weights after 3 straight days of weights. I could not handle it.

OK - off to check on my pals!

No! You shouldn't be scared! I meant reading your posts in others diaries! Lol! :p

Sorry your kid is sick! Hope she is better soon. You do need a break. You have been kicking butt! :D

Well that's a testament to your success and a place all of us wish to reach....in one year you've gone from feeling bad about yourself to being such a success story. And not only that but you're encouraging others to do the same just by your shining example. Well done!!!

Thank you, Scarlett! That was so kind of you! I can't believe I can inspire others, but if my experience helps, I'm always happy to share and, of course, encourage. I just keep thinking about how life can just never be the same if this weight is to stay off. It's not like, "Oh. I've lost the weight. now I go back to my prior life." Nope! Doesn't work that way. I don't think I ever did actually think that, but now as I have 10-12 lbs. left, I'm a bit scared about the whole maintenance thing. Know what I mean?

Yep, sure do. I've been thinking about it alot lately. But I think if we just continue with the same kind of mindset and determination after a while it will just become second nature. And hopefully we will live the rest of our lives with our new set of ideals regarding food instead of our old ones. But you're gonna get there first. So you'll have to tell us all how to do it!!!

I met someone last night at a gathering who'd lost 35 lbs earlier in the year so I asked how it was going and she said she regained 5 and was feeling pretty rotten. She said it was due to ice cream! She thought she could resume eating it and it quickly amounted to 5 lbs. Ugh! I'm dreading having to maintain. It might end up as difficult as losing it. Bummer.

Anyhow, I'm on Day 2 of house arrest with a sick child and I'm going nuts! My 2 y.o. is begging me to take her to the gym - I'm thinking, "You don't want to go half as much as I want to!!!!" But alas - not with sicky big sister. Hopefully, she'll get better soon and we'll be back to normal. I am hoping to do a Kickboxing dvd when they are napping this afternoon. Wish me luck accomplishing that!!!

Hi! I'm a little behind on catching up- but I really wanted to commend you for inspiring other poeple. I can't imagine how great it must feel to have people compliment you and ask you for advise. I think I'm going to have to lose at least another 60 pounds before anyone is crazy enough to ask me what I did!
As far as maintaining goes- I'm sure you won't have as much of a problem as that lady did. You are already aware of the importance of portion control- and since you are getting into such a good groove with working out, it will soon become a habit and you will keep it up even after you reach your goal weight. I doubt you'll have any problem maintaining as long as you keep these lifestyle changes on your mind :)

Hi all! My daughter is again healthy and we are off to the beach with our friends. Yay! Everyone went yesterday and they had so much fun, they decided to go again today. Luckily, we are able to go.

I will burn oh so many calories walking, swimming, hunting for seashells, catching crabs, building sand castles, etc. The group we are going with is very health conscious, also. So we are going to eat fruit and various salads. Gotta love it when the peoplee around you directly support your efforts, huh?

Hi all! We DID have a great day at the beach. We BBQ'd dinner, watched the sunset, and then enjoyed a major lightning storm out on the horizon. Very cool! My friend and I swam around in the waves for nearly an hour. A good work-out and lots of fun. I did eat one too many cookies (that is to say I ate 2 and meant to only eat one!) I contributed a nice, heatlhy broccoli salad to the cause.

Anyhow, I can't believe tomorrow's the last day of the challenge. It's been a lot of fun and very motivating!
