A new start for Iwan

well, I'm finally getting better, a little bit. I got the freakin chicken pox! tell me how that freakin happens to somebody who's already had them twice! I'm a mess. the pnumonia is hanging on like the plague, I spent the better half of last week in Anchorage in the hospital. Now I'm back at work, but they have "moved" me to a back office where nobody can see me (just call me kwazi moto). now I'm stuck doing network crap and data entry for half days till my doc clears me to go back full time. anyways, thats my update.

Oh Iwan - I hope you make a full recovery soon!
You guys sure have been hit hard with illness this winter!

Almost two months! thats how long it has taken to me recover from being sick. It went like this, pneumonia, chicken pox, mono, pneumonia. I havn't been working for a while, havn't been dieting but I havn't been cheating either. I've held my weight steady, thank goodness. But I havn't been able to take long walks, do much excercising or anything too active. In the last two weeks I've managed to garden a lot though since we now officially have "spring-like" weather.
The good news though, is that I've been cleared by my doctor to do things like return to work, which I've decided to do on a part time basis, and she also said I'm healthy enought to begin excercising and even dieting again since she was so proud of my first 40 lbs weight loss. Oh goody *rubs hands together in a greedy fashion*.

Anyways, just wanted to pop by and say hi, I'm back in the right "mindframe" I havn't been missing entirely, I've been lurking, but just with nothing worthy to contribute. I missed you all.:hug2:

Nice to see you back posting.. :D

Spring like weather in Alaska - hmm - is that when the snow starts to melt? :D or the temps go above 0 :D

lol, something like that! its when the crocus pop through that white groundcover. and for the gardeners out there, yes, the crucus just wilted three days ago. And I just did my first lawn mowing of the season last night. My last lawn mowing will take place next week, right before our first snow...just kidding! I hope we don't get snow in July again...

I wanted to share some pics of me (oh my Goddess! She’s posting pics!!!). Now, I’m hoping this works because I hate nothing more on earth then a post promising pics and then never coming through (something I am very guilty of doing many times here).

A little history lesson, I started my weight loss journey on September 2, 2006. I was 234 lbs. At 5’1” that was the equivalent of being a beach ball. Here I am, at the opening of an art show standing in front of one of my paintings. I would cringe when I saw this picture but when I was that heavy every time I cringed I lost my neck.

Then I found a couple of resources while doing research on weight loss (because I’m not one to jump into anything blindly). First, I found herbalife (which in the end sucked but got me started with that first 10 lbs loss), then I found this site, and then, thanks to people here I found sparkpeople.

Here I am 50 lbs lighter, happier, more motivated then ever to finish what I started:

The second is a kinda crappy pic, I had to take it on my cell phone in my sons room (where the only full length mirror in the house resides because up until a few months ago I avoided full length everything except skirts).

So, now to see if this works….

k, I couldn't get the pics to work so I just posted links. I hate it when people just post links to follow, but I'm a techtard, so...there ya go.

Thanks Cannon, unfortunatly low light is not the best time for a photo shoot, but I had to get my arse to work this am so I had to hurry. Hopefully I'll be working for myself soon enough so I won't have to worry about someone else's schedule.

Lol! what are you talking about? that is me smiling! just kidding, I remember when the fat pic was taken I was thinking "I can't believe she is taking a picture of me, do I still have time to run?"

Yesterday was a good day, today is looking like it'll be good too. I got to babysit my new 7 week old neice last night and she is such a princess. She *almost* makes me want another baby, until she poops or needs to be fed or just decides a crying jag is a good idea. My son was so jealous of her it was cute.

Also, last night I discovered turkey medalions in my freezer section at the store, 50 cals per 2 oz serving (the sodium is a little high but I'm on a special high sodium diet...if you believe that). They were prefect on our salads last night for dinner. I somehow managed to stay within my calorie range, which lately has not been my forte.

Also, today or sometime tomorrow I should be able to look up my cholesterol screening labs and get an idea of how well I'm doing versus last year at this time before I started dieting. It wasn't high last year but it was getting there, I definatly needed to make some changes and I think I'll be happy with the results. My blood pressure has been great for the last few months as has my blood sugars (which I monitor regulary not because I'm diabetic but because a good percentage of my family is and I want to avoid that completely).

Today is going to be a high fiber day...I just feel a little...off...ya know. TMI!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention what makes my days so freaking wonderful. Theres a road construction crew out by my house everyday building a new bridge...lots of drool worthy man meat out there. Yum. Hey! a girl can look can't she? at least I'm not wolf whisteling at them...yet.

oh, yeah, and I think Troy would get jealous. I'm *supposed* to only have eyes for him. I've got two eyes! At least he gets one right?

WOW I wan I am speechless! What a long way you have come.
Your doing great and I swear 50 lbs lost looks way better on you.Lol when I lost 50 lbs you can tell that I lost weight but you look like a million bucks!
Way to go and thank you for stopping by,it is always good to see ya,Tammy

Thanks for stopping by Tammy, as you can see visitors are few and far between in here. I don't feel like I look like a million bucks yet...maybe 25,000...lol, but that perspective changes the more beer I consume, when I'm drunk I consider putting in for America's Top Model (hey, they have airbrushing!)
