A new lease on life - Xenon's Diary :)

Hey! It's my first time dropping by here. I love your journal title: a new lease on life! Love it! It's always good to get a fresh start.

So you juggle school, a husband, and a child?! You ARE Superwoman.

I'm with Jill, kudos to you for even taking cal. You seem very dedicated so I'm sure you'll do fine. Also good job for you for working to be the best and being "the creme of the crop". As a student that just finished applying to law schools, I learned how extremely competitive it is to get in. My friends who are applying to grad schools are also facing the same struggles so keep aiming for the very best!!! It will definitely pay off.

I hope you have a great day tomorrow! (=

Thanks so much for stopping by Jes :D I often feel like Stessedwoman instead of Superwoman :p This is my second to last calc class...I had calcI last semester and I came back for more :) Thanks for understanding the cream of the crop bit, I know that grad schools really look at your grades and everything you have to offer, especially if they have a good graduate program. Good luck with your law school applications and congrats on your educational success:hurray:!!! I'll check out your diary to see how things are going with your apps :)

:nopity:
^^I just felt like using that emoticon haha

Well I went grocery shopping today and bought some things for the 6wbmo eating plan. My body type changed from a C to a B, so I have to order the food plan for that type, but they told me they will give me a free menu card in the interim so I can get started. I lose weight at a good and steady pace with that program as I've tried it in the past, and of course it extends past six weeks, and then I think they have maintenance or something at the end. A few modifications I will make are
1) cutting out the salt gradually instead of abruptly (I've already been working on it)
2) taking supplements with essential fatty acids and vitamin E (last time I was on the program, my skin was as dry as a chip)
3) occasional milk as I feel it is important :)

I'm really excited to be back on track. I prefer to weigh in monthly, but I think I'll weigh in to see if the chicken of the sea on my weight loss ticker will move any :) I didn't get to Zumba today as my son had other plans of climbing me, screaming, and letting me chase him around the house lol. I get to kiss his little cheeks whenever I catch him :p

Have a good night and a great day tomorrow everyone!

Aww! He sounds adorable!!!!!!

And as everyone else has said here- you ARE superwoman! Good on you for taking on so much!!

I'm so excited that you're going to try zumba!! I love it so much! mostly because when i can't figure out what i'm suppose to do, I just bust a fierce move!

You sound so motivated and determined with your diet- I love it!! It's great that you know what works for you! And I love that you're slowly cutting things out- i find it WAY to hard to go cold turkey :)

Good luck! And I hope you have a fabulous day!

just dropped by your journal. you seem to have such a positive attitude :D and 50 lbs by summer, totally do-able! :)

curious: what did you mean in your last post about your body type going from a C to a B? are you doing a program?

good luck. and good on you for tackling school with a family!!

*waves* Thanks for stopping by Tob :)

Thanks Tik :) My family is completely gaga over the little one. I have an aunt who says he's the cutest baby in the world and she is always sending him clothes and toys. I appreciate it but I really think she is spending way too much money, and she will not stop no matter what I tell her lol. She left one of the receipts in the package by accident last time (even though she cut off all the tags LOL) and she spent $98.00 on just 7 pieces of clothing!

With things like salt it is too difficult to go cold turkey. Last time I was on the plan I did not enjoy food because it had no taste to me. I figure gradual is better.

Hope you're having a good day Tik!

Hi Katie *waves*
Thanks for saying I have such a positive attitude. I'm trying to be better about things. I used to have a really good attitude for most of my life, but for the past two years I have been a real sour puss :p I figure I cannot change people and circumstances, but I can change the way I react to them and the way I handle stress. It's an everyday thing, but I'm trying to be better.

I'm going to give Mark Thurmond's six week body makeover (6wbmo) a second try, and that is the program that has the A-F body types, with A being the slowest and F the fastest metabolism. I used to be a C, but am @ a B right now. I was wanting to start it today but they sent me the menu card a little late so I'll give it a shot tomorrow and prepare the meals tonight. The last time I was on it I lost no less than 2 lbs a week and averaged about 3 lbs a week in weight loss....just from diet alone! This time I will be doing exercise too. I would really like to get back running, but with my schedule it just is not possible, so I'll be doing aerobics and dance aerobics at home--might even get back into bellydancing! :D I love that :)
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having an AWESOME day!

Awww! That's nice that she's doing that though! I had an aunt like that! I come from a single parent/only child household, and my aunt was like a second mom to me! I swear, she spoiled me so much, that I don't know how I wasn't more of a brat as a child! LOL

Your son sounds like he has a great family and support system!! :) And I bet he's UBER cute!!! :)

Nothing wrong with a little spoiling :) Maybe that's why you're super sweet! I think spoiling only goes bad when there aren't enough values being instilled. I am often accused of spoiling my little one, but I really cannot understand how a 16 month old can be spoiled, they need all of your love and affection <3

So I got a head start on cooking today. I just made some ....get ready...super delicious and spicy honey mustard chicken :drool5: OMG it is so good. I used only a little honey..like a teaspoon so that's about 20 cals for three pieces of chicken, mustard (0 cals), hot red peppers, ginger, onion, paprika and the slightest amt of salt. It really came out good :)

hey Xenon, sounds like you are doing such a good job of juggling! I remember when my daughter was that age and that's when i PUT ON stone after stone, not took it off! So, keep your head down at school (I'm the same - always wanted to be the top grade, but it stands you in great stead when you finish and you are looking for grad school / jobs).

I love the chicken of the sea!!! Get him moving!

Thanks so much jjjay! *hugs* You really inspired me after I decided to go back to school, knowing you did it and were a success with a little one really took away the apprehensions I was having and motivated me! You are doing such an awesome job of losing, do you realise you've lost FOUR STONE?! Amazing!

This chicken of the sea better get moving or I'll curry him next :p

Thanks Tob and Trusylver :D

Today has sucked so far. My husband and I started off with our first serious argument, I ate a brownie, and I feel otherwise mental. We are fine now and the argument is resolved but Gah...bad way to start the day. I won't let it ruin the rest of the day though, my meals are already prepared and I am going to exercise, For now I will immerse myself in some trigonometric integrals or programming to clear the fog @_@

Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Thanks so much Soco you are so right! And thank you for stopping by :)

Good news today. When I am on the 6WBMO I like to weigh in weekly, so I decided to change my weigh in date to Saturday, and I weighed in today :D:D:D:D The chicken of the sea is moving!! I am down 2lbs :D My current weight is now 273 woooohoooo!

Well.....

Well I feel good that I lost 2.8lbs this week :) A few steps in the right direction really makes a difference. I went to the 6WBMO forum yesterday and I saw something there that really moved me and I wanted to share it with you guys :D I started that program back in 2007, and stayed on it for only a month or so. I lost weight, but I could not manage cooking my meals all of the time and eating so many times per day. At that time I ate maybe once or twice per day. ANYwho I stumbled across this thread that was started by someone at around the same time I started the program. She started the thread saying she was afraid of failing at the program, and someone just told her they were embarrassed to be seen with her in public. At the time she weighed about 545lbs. Well folks now in February of 2011 she has lost over 300 lbs and is 200 lbs exactly. I started to think about all of the other times I wanted to start losing weight but digressed and how many years passed and I said, "you know if I started then, I would have been thin by now." But here is concrete evidence of what could have been accomplished all of these years. So now is the time and there is no turning back. I am really hoping to lose at least 100lbs this year, but if I get out of the 200lb+ range, I will be happy.
Some major milestones for me will be:
198lbs~out of the 200lb range of course
169lbs~will be considered "overweight" and no longer obese
149lbs~Well this one is really important to me lol. The lowest weight I ever remember myself being was 150lbs, once I pass that mark I will be in new and unexplored territory:willy_nilly:
Beneath that I will see what it's like, but my goal weight is 124...and I will finally be within the healthy weight range :D

That's what I've been thinking about these past few days.:biggrinjester:

This is awesome. your milestones that you have laid out are probably SUCH good motivators for you. and the fact that you said that you have been thinking of them for a few days is probably a really good sign. keep up the good work! i look forward to hearing about you hitting these ;)
