A new chapter begins

No change in weight this week. How's that possible? I have been working extra hard with running and all the walking, and calories have been pretty low too. It has been a week of eating out though- there was Monday lunch, then tuesday dinner, and wednesday lunch and last night's buffet dinner. I ate small portions, but when someone else cooks you don't know what kind of stuff they use, how much oil, butter, etc they used. Maybe that's the reason why the weight has remained constant. Next seven days are going to be extra hard work. Haven't taken my measurements in a while, I think I may do that tomorrow.

Did run for 35 mins today- it was really really hot though. Heat I don't mind so much, but the sun was just really getting to me. But I feel great after the run. I got out at around 8am today, so may have to stick to 7.30am like I planned a few days ago.

Gonna walk lots today too.

My nieces are here soon. Gosh, I am sooooo looking forward to seeing the little cuties.

Next week- no eating out (and I don't have to- coz no business meetings or lunches or brekkies, and have socialized a lot this week already). Bring on the next week!!

Hey Juni

It sucks that the scale didn't go down but at least it didn't move up! You ate out a lot so that is hard to figure out the calories, Next week you nieces will keep you busy you will see the scale go down!

OMG, Im so excited that they'll be here soon. They are SUCH good kids. I don't have my own, but I keep telling my sister, if I even have my own kids, they will have to be exactly like my nieces otherwise I am giving them away to her and taking her daughters as my own. :)

So I ran for 35 mins in the heat yesterday. Quite proud of myself. I need to go a little early - even half hour makes a lot of difference with the sun and all.

FRIDAY

Pre workout: 11 almonds
B: one hard boiled egg, two whole wheat toasts with PB and marmalade
L: 1/2 cup boiled bulgar, chicken made with onions and tomatoes
S: 1 mango, 2 chocolate cookies
D: two small chappatis, 2 small potatoes, zucchini

I was starving all day yesterday. I upped my calories a little bit.

Today, I have lots of cleaning up to do before the nieces get here. Can you tell how excited I am to see them????

Hope you are enjoying your time with your nieces. How do you like the pedometer? That is so cool that your friend noticed you lost the weight. And it's nice to see another hard-boiled egg fan. It's my favorite thing for a quick shot of energy.

Happy 4th of July

They get here in a few hours with my friend. :) So excited. The pedometer I use is the ipod nano one, which keeps screwing with my music and not reading the right number of steps. It was doing fine until last week, now the music sounds weird when I have the pedometer on. I was getting a bit frustrated with it this morning. I think I will get a real pedometer (not ipod stuff) when I get home in a few months. I really really like looking at the number of steps taken and I miss it. OMG, I love hard-boiled eggs. I could have as many as four, although it is full of cholesterol (never had four, but I could:p). You are right, it is really good for a quick shot of energy.

SO I may have spoken too soon. My nieces get here in a few hours with a friend of mine who is bringing them with her. My friend only stays here til Tuesday, but she looooves going out and eating out. And since this is her first time in the city, I feel like I owe it to her to take her out and show her a good time. When she's gone I can make more home-made meals for my little ones. But they love going out to eat too. Sooo....my plan to not eat out too much this week goes down the drains. But I will try my very best to make the most healthy choice.

Saturday

B: 1 mung bean bread (yum) with homemade marmalade
L: 2.3 slices of pizza and one scoop of ice-cream
S: small bowl of noodles and 1 mango
D: 1 chappati and spinach

Not the best day calorie wise. Will try harder today. We are having American celebrations today at the club. Yay!

Happy 4th of July everyone. I wish I was back home.

Hey Juni - you sound so excited about your neices arriving!!! I hope you have a fantastic time with them.

I always have the "eating out" problem as well....my "big" boss is coming over to our region tomorrow to take my and my immediate boss out for a long lunch to celebrate my promotion and he's told me that I can chose any restaurant that I want (he's usually very cost conscious so for him to do this is a real gesture!)...heheh I don't want to go to the poshest place in town for french cuisine...I quite just fancy Nandos where I can get a healthy bit of grilled chicken breast and pitta and salad!!!!! Guess I'm just not an executive gal!!

Anyhows, its always a dilemma about what to chose when eating out - but you just got to pick what you think is the healthiest thing on the menu, swop fries or potatos for salad and leave off the dressing...that usually makes any choice instantly better!!! So difficult to do though!

Hi Juni

I'm Lys and am new to this, I was reading through different comments and I came across yours and I found it very interesting about what you were saying about eating out and other people cooking for you and I have to completely agree that even when I am sticking to a diet, doing regular exercise etc I still either put weight on or stay the same if I eat out, I think it is an accumalation of what you have said about not knowing what people use to cook with, and the portion sizes they give, in certain things there are hidden calories such as we all think salads are low in fat but it is the hidden things that are in the dressing that can make it quite high in calories (i read this on the weight watchers web site) also I think it is what you drink as well I always struggle to know what drink to order as I do like a glass of wine.....so if anyone has any suggestions!!!

Good luck this week with sticking to eating at home

Lys x

Hey Juni

I hope you enjoy the kids for the stay!!!! Don't worry about having your own all kids have their special little something, that makes you fall for them over and over again!!!!! Have fun this week!

Hey Juni! Hope you have a blast this weekend! I got up and did the treadmill this morning thanks to you!! I remembered saying Monday was the day and I'm sticking to it!! I think it's just all the salt from eating out that does it to you so just be sure to get plenty of water with each meal and the scale should go down again next week!! Keep it up and enjoy your time with your nieces!

Hi Juni! Just popped in to see how you were doing!

Hope all is well with your visitors and your 4th of July celebrations were great!

Take care!

That's what I did for the last two days, jjjay. It is the alcohol that kills me every time (and I love wine). Two glasses of wine is already more than 300 cals. Yikes. Its a struggle, every time. But we'll get there. Baby steps.

Enjoy your week!!

OMG, I'm sooo with you about the wine. I love wine, and I struggle, everytime. But I don't have wine everyday, so that's ok. I think because this is a lifestyle change, it takes time, but we'll get there. Welcome to the forum, Lys. Will check out your journal in a bit.

Hey Juni

I hope you enjoy the kids for the stay!!!! Don't worry about having your own all kids have their special little something, that makes you fall for them over and over again!!!!! Have fun this week!

My nieces are so cute. And they are good kids, which makes my life easier (hahah). They are here till later in July, so will get to do plenty of fun things with them. Yay!

And I woke up early today morning because I had to take my friend to the airport. After I dropped her off, I went for a longish walk. Its grey outside and much cooler, so if it stays that way I may take the kiddos to the park later in the day. I love that I am already thinking about coming home early from work because the two cuties will be waiting for me. :)

All good here, Flumes. There wasn't much of 4 of July celebrations here, but we did what we could. :) Hope you are well. Will check up on ya in a bit now.

I am gonna forget the last two days. There was a lot of drinking and eating of salty food. I'm taking a day off and eating right. I still have a few days before the weigh-in. So gonna be really really good. Will jounal my food from today.

Went for a longish walk (1 hour) and then will do another one in the evening. It is too damn hot to run. I really wanna continue doing it, so will do it whenever the weather permits. I really need to join a gym as soon as I get home and move to the city.

Hope all are having a good week.

Hi Juni, I just read all 17 pages of your diary:). The first time you posted in mine I was going to read yours but didn't have time and then I forgot.
I am sooooo impressed with your running. I've only tried it a couple of times but love the feeling that it gives you. I think that I might try and do the couch to 5k that you talked about. I would be so proud if I ever managed to run so far as I didn't even run when I was a kid.
How on earth do you mangage to drink so much water??? I have problems forcing 2 litres down however hot it gets. I find that drinking enough water is more of a problem to me than eating right or exercising. I just rarely feel thirsty.
Have fun with your neices :)
Val

Hey Juni! I started a new journal - needed a fresh start! You should be able to find it on the first page today.
It's a good thing you only have two days to put past you - I have two weeks!!! You can do it - start fresh tomorrow morning if you didn't today!! You have time before the weigh in to do some damage control. I couldn't imagine running outside in the humidity we have been having lately - the fan on the treadmill and the powerful air conditioning at the gym are what are going to get me through the next month.

Juni, I'm with you on the wine thing...but...I tend to have half a glass of white wine, half a glass of sparkling water - to make a spritzer - the taste of wine but half the cals!!!

Hi Val, thanks for your note. You should totally do the couch to 5k program. A lot of the runners here in the forum first started with that also. It is a wonderful program, and by the end of 9 weeks you are running 30 mins. It really helps build endurance.

Drinking water has never been a problem for me. I have the 1 litre nalgene bottles at home and one at the office. Before work I have 1 bottle, which is 1 litre, at work I have at least 2 litres throughout the day and then when I get home another litre or so. It is easier to measure with the bottle as opposed to with glasses because I always forget how many glasses I had throughout the day.

Just dropped by your journal. Yay for starting a new one. I will do that also when I reach my goal and start maintaining. That time I will need a fresh start. Thanks for the encouragement, Lisa. I hope to do some damage control today. Hope you have a good day today.
You are doing great Juni!!!! Stau awau from Salty foods and everything will fall in to place

Juni, I'm with you on the wine thing...but...I tend to have half a glass of white wine, half a glass of sparkling water - to make a spritzer - the taste of wine but half the cals!!!

I stuck to only one glass of wine yesterday, so that's good. Never tried wine with sparkling water. Will do that next time.

---

So yesterday turned out to be ok. I think I went a little over my calories but I am still happy that I got some walking done etc. Plus when I got home I was running around with the kiddos. I was invited to a colleague's place for dinner because they wanted to meet my nieces so dinner was a little heavy, but other than that, food was ok. Im gonna do MUCH better today coz I'll be eating home-made food all day.

TUES

B: rice puffs, a couple of potatoes
L: spinach, 1/2 cup chicken, bulgar
S: 2 macaroons (i made them for the kiddos), 1 cracker, 1 cup of tea
D: 1 cup biryani, kidney beans, 2 pieces of chicken, 1 glass of wine

HAPPY HUMP DAY!

Oh yea, and TOM started yesterday. Wonder what the scales are gonna say this week. I really wanna be 60kgs already. Next two days, Im gonna be really really good.

Funny you should say that about the bottles as I started doing that yesterday. I had a 1 1/2 litre bottle with me at all times and drunk so much more than usual.

You're always good hun!

Hope you smash that 60 soon!

Good luck!

It's so much easier when you are making your meals and have the time to put some thought into them! I'm sure you will do great the next two days! Don't worry to much about weigh in this week with TOM - it won't be accurate and will probably just make you discouraged - you have to anticipate to stay the same or gain so you won't be let down. Next week will be much better and more accurate. Hope it cools down some for you so you can get out for a run! Take care!
