A Means to the End

OK, In the introduction someone suggested I start a weight loss diary. So here goes.

My starting weight was 369 around the middle of last year. I didnt do much but change what I ate alittle. I weighed at the Doctor. I didn't have a scale at home that would weigh me.

In January I decided with the new year im going to make a new me, and start this Decade off the right way! I started reasearching balanced diets, How to lose weight, How to lose execess Skin after losing weight without surgery, How to exercize, and all kinds of things about health and getting healthy. I started to eat healthier, and starting counting calories, aiming to break the 1800 mark each day. some days i went up to so much as almost 2200, but almost never over that. there were a few occasions where i cheated but not many.

On Tueseday Febuary 2nd I got a scale that weighes people up to 400 lbs. Since I started weighing in on a tuesday I figure thats as good a day as any for my weekly weigh in. Here are my weigh-ins since getting my scale:

Date Weight Lost
02/02/2010 346 lbs 23 lbs (from my last known weight)
02/09/2010 343 lbs 3 lbs
02/16/2010 340 lbs 3 lbs
02/23/2010 338.5 lbs 1.5 lbs (slipped last weekend)

I also got a little ticker signature so it will tell you how much I lost total. I Know I slipped up last weekend, I was out all weekend, and make poor meal choices while I was out. I also Joined a gym yesterday. I started off only walking for an hour, but i didnt feel like I even had much of a work out. I was only walking at 3mph. But even tho I didnt feel it then i wanted to be careful and see how i felt today. But im still good, so i know i can work harder later today when I go back to the gym.

I'll try to keep this thread up to date, at least every tuesday. Thanks for reading this and for your support.

HI! i am pretty new here too... It is really helping to keep me on track! Welcome! and looking forward to seeing your progress! :)

Good to hear that you are putting your money where your mouth is. Now after losing that weight, list the new habits that have caused you to lose weight. Keep those in front of you all of the time and know that these are habits you will keep forever. You will never have the luxury of changing them.

Know what I mean?

OK I know this is 2 days late. I was tired after work. I just got a job, and I have been working 8am to 5pm since I started. well mon-friday. But working seems to have helped my weight loss, altho I havent been going to the gym durring the week. Im usually too exausted after walking around work all day. They are opening a new walmart near where i live, and right now we are setting up getting ready to open on the 17th of this month. Once we open i will only be working part time, and not as many hours at a time, so i will be able to go to the gym. but right now i have been getting enough workout stocking shelves and doing all kinds of other stuff. But here is my progress as off last tuesday:

03/02/2010 335.4lbs down 3.1lbs from last tuesday!

Im starting to feel like my stomache is smaller, it might be wishful thinking. I measured my stomach when i first started really trying to lose back in jan, and then on tuesday i measured again, and it was down over 3 inches, altho i dont know if im measuring it right, im just measuring all the way around about 2 inches above my naval.

Since starting work my days seem to fly by. altho im not eating as well as i had been, its alot harder not being home being able to cook for myself every time i want food. When I go back to part time i dont think i will be working enough hours at a time for a meal break. so I could cook for myself befor work, and after i get home.

Thanks for the responces Invino and Dobner. Thanks for the Advice too Dobner. I've still got alot of weight to lose, but its getting there. I know its not going to happen at the snap of a finger but I will get there. I am determined! The weight I lost is lost for good :) There is no turning back for me. Im so sick and tired of being so big, and how much it limits me.

Well I guess thats about it. See you again next week. I'll try to post on tuesday, but I make no promises lol. And even if i dont make it on tuesday I weigh myself and write it down, so i will be able to keep you updated here :)

Hi im quite new on this website as well. It looks like you are definately on the right track. It sucks that it is a slow process to lose weight but we also want to lose it in a healthy way so that the results are more likely to be permanent. Working alot and trying to eat healthy is a problem for me too. I seem to make bad food choices when I don't cook for myself :S You said in your first post that you researched How to lose execess Skin after losing weight without surgery. I'm interested to hear what kind of things you found out about that. I havent really had time to research that but I am concerned about having alot of excess skin around my belly and under my arms.
Anyways I look forward to reading more about your progress. Good Luck ! :)

OK i think i should move my wiegh in day to wednesday, it seems like i've only been updating on wednesdays lol. well here is my update

Weight 332.8 Down 2.6lbs from last tuesday

I know its not my best but its still better than gaining wieght for this week lol. well Im sorry this one is so short this week, but i got up at 3 am this morning to go work out for 1.5 hours after driving to the gym then driving back home to shower and get ready for work, then worked from 8am till 5pm. and that was on about 6.4 hours sleep, so im pretty tired, but i'll check in soon to see if there are any coments or responces.

And again, thanks to all who read thru my comments! I really apreciate it, even if you dont leave a resonce, its nice to know there is a comutity out there supporting me and my goal.

A loss of 2.6lbs is still better than gaining weight and you should be proud. I remember when I first started, my goal wasn't to lose weight, it was not to gain more than 2 pounds a week. Looking forward to reading your next entry.

I agree with others, a loss is always a great thing. There are so many things that can make that number be big or small, but moving in the right direction is great.

Getting up early to exercise is a great idea. I do that too, although not as early as you! Just be sure to go to bed earlier to make up for it. Sleep is an important part of weight loss.

Way to go on the progress so far!
